The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

NO, we are expected to "compete" every year. The ultimate goal is to win the world series yes, of course. But if they lose in the ALCS or lose in the ALDS, it's hardly "STRUGGLING" as you say.

And if we go 5 or 6 years without a world series, yet still make the playoffs.......it isn't a "sky is falling' situation.

This wins the award for the biggest pile of bull dung on the boards today... Please don't insinuate that winning a championship isn't the only acceptable goal as a Yankee fan... That is why they buy every mercenary they can, that is why they outbid all rivals... Not to have a "good season", but to win it all... To sit here and minimize the great baseball corporation's failings the past 5 (6) years is laughable...

That's why it's ultimately so joyless being a Yankee fan, because deep down inside, second place is the same as last place to them, and first place is only placated justification... Injuries have FINALLY caught up and this team is treading water... One might say, "struggling" to stay afloat... And a long drought looms on the horizon.... Baseball's grim reaper is soon knocking...

For the money spent, they're struggling, alright... And there'll be no title this year either

struggling? I just don't get it. Seriously. You guys just hate the yankees so much you take the stance........."I HATE THE YANKEES...(fill in reasons why)."

Instead of looking at things objectivly and being level headed about things.

And what mercenery's do we buy? Please tell me? Im very curious.

i don't hate the yankees and then make up reasons... i hate the yankees BECAUSE of the reasons

Phillies and Yankees tonight!!!!! wahooo. The Big Unit always does well against the Phils...but not tonight.

Yankees leave the bases loaded and don't score in the first.

thats true steinbrenner looks at every year not winning the title as a failure and so do most yankee fans

Damn Yankees is right...

Lost 3 in a row to our NL rivals. Oh well, win the next two and suddenly lose it again this weekend.

Now the bats have gone cold and we are pitching well, we are finding many creative ways to lose games.

David Bell, 3B for the Phils, losses another game for the Phils with an error. I can't stand Bell.....just cut him.

Ryan Howard gets 2 homers and a Triple and 7 RBI's, and piece-of-**** Bell has to ruin it. :tantrum:

I swear as a Sox fan I have seen this more than anything.. Its the 1st sign of doom..

We salvaged game 2 after Moose was hit hard again though the first 3 runs never should have scored as Burrell should have been called out on strikes but he wasn't and Moose had another rough outing thanks to a grat night from Ryan Howard- a great night UNTIL he faced Mariano w/ the game on the line and Mo got him to ground weakly to 2nd and the Yanks held on to end a 3 game skid. We need this series so a win tonight is important especially w/ Boston beating up the team we couldn't beat over the weekend.

wow howard 7 rbis? It was a miracle yanks pulled that win off

It wasn't a miracle....David Bell, the Phillies so-called 3rd Baseman, regular helps other teams win by his blunders at 3rd base (his error led to 4 runs late in game 2).....ohhh I miss Mike Schmidt. :boohoo:
