Even when we are winning, I will be critical of deficiencies he is responsible for. Overcoming a deficiency and winning in spite of it, especially in a league of parity, is not a reason to simply overlook those deficiencies.

Let's see, here are the players at non-OL positions that Jeff Ireland asked this coaching staff to work with, you tell me which one of these players you think was a great addition to this football team:

RB: Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas
LB: Koa Misi, Dannell Ellerbe, Phil Wheeler
Safety: Chris Clemons, Reshad Jones

Both of those RBs, he traded up to get. They both stink.

All three of those LBs, he gave big money contracts to. They all stink.

One of those safeties is a marginal player who is an impending free agent. The other one is a marginal player we just handed top 3 money out to.

How can you defend this crap? Seriously. Because the team has won 8 games and had a nice win against the Patriots last week you're just going to overlook this and/or pretend that because it's 'working' to the tune of an 8-7 record that these moves aren't bad?

I sincerely hope you aren't in a management or analysis position at your place of employment.

I see your opinion and i see where you would be disappointed in the 8-7 mark but i don't know what you really expected to happen. I mean there is going to be warts on every team and you can point out but to blindly just ignore every thing that they HAVE accomplished is wrong.

If we go by past performance we should just can everybody after this year and start over. I want you tell me what a new GM is going to do to this team?

What have we ACCOMPLISHED? We're 8-7 and need help to get into the playoffs. That's despite having been a losing football team for a decade now and having been given above average resources by the league to turn it around.

What will a new GM do to this team? Probably change the coaching staff and a lot of the personnel. I have no problem with that. We have a coaching staff and personnel group that has brought us a sub .500 record in two years.

So if we make the playoffs and still fire the GM and the head coach is fired you are ok with that? Completely foolish to think that way as it places no stability on the team and then you will go NOWHERE!

Ask the Redskins how that works out, the wont even be able to hire a coach do to the fact that they have no stability at all, is that what you want? you obviously do not want to win if that what you want.

Yes. I think this team has a total dearth of talent at a few positions and is not particularly well coached.

I would like to see Joe Philbin come back, but if he is a casualty of purging Jeff Ireland, I will take that arrangement.

Well i don't think that is the right decision but you have your opinion all i can hope is that it does not happen lol

When you rip the coaches, you rip the GM too, as he's the one who hired the coach. Philbin/Sherman wasn't brought in here against Ireland's wishes. Ross didn't pull that idea out of his buttocks. That, too, was Ireland's idea. Ross just signed off on it.

I'm not sure Jeff Fisher was any better, and it's hard to know if the Rams OC is any better or worse. Maybe he's better, cuz they've won some games with Kellen Clemens this year. Zac Stacy was a god-send for them.
Wow, the more I think about it, Fisher would've been a much better hire. Damn.

We were awful yesterday but I expect both will be back next season. Don't underestimate the difficulty of playing in Buffalo in cold, wet and windy conditions. Hopefully the players learn from the experience and come out determined to win against the Jets.

I am not. My point is that if Ireland is fired I do not want a shotgun wedding approach in which a new GM is forced to work with Joe.

If Ireland is canned and you are determined to keep Philbin, then elevate Brian Gaine or allow Joe to pick his own GM and give him personnel control.

Why are you constantly insisting on replacing Philbin? We will not go anywhere is we replace the HC right now. Most important thing with a young QB is stability switching coaches and coordinators slows down the progress.

Only time that is warranted is if the coach is ruining the QB aka Shanahan and RGIII

The hc is not an issue...I think people are confused about hc job responsibilities...the personnel has always been the issue...that said I am not gonna overreact to that road loss in those conditions...

Well at least he was honest! I will take that over the **** Meatball used to spew! Same garbage every week from Meatball!

Exactly.

Tony Sparano couldve been a FH poster the way he made ridiculous excuses and waved pom poms.

Joe Philbin gets real.

I am NOT consistently wanting to replace Joe. That is not true. I have stated that IF Ireland is canned, Joe should go too. I do not want a forced marriage with another GM. Those relationships do not work.

Do I think Joe is a lousy coach on game day? Yes. Do I think he is a lousy motivator? Yes. Has done a good job keeping this team afloat amid the Martin fiasco? Yes.

That his team did not even compete is an issue.

"Only time that is warranted is if the coach is ruining the QB aka Shanahan and RGIII"

Kirk Cousins is definitely proving that RGIII is wrecking Kyle Shanahan more than Shanahan wrecked RGIII. Cousins is in there and suddenly they're running the ball and putting Pierre Garcon in the HoF. RGIII was a running fool last year and when he threw he had guys open and time to throw it. Speed up his clock and he's just not an NFL QB. RGIII needs to have his career slowed way down and go back to basics and probably sit. Washington should probably let Cousins start and maybe RGIII can learn as his understudy. Based off what Cousins has done, I wouldn't fire anyone if I were Snyder. They've been shown that the plan works these past 2 weeks. They are a team that should stay the course, at least on offense.

I digress, but maybe this is kind of a juxtaposition with what we have. Sherman has shown an absolute inability to adapt and innovate as an OC. Tannehill is more talented, physically, than Sherman allows him to be and we fail to maximize our personnel and alleviate pressure from areas where we struggle.

Philbin has got to go if he and Sherman are inseparable, and with their connection in Green Bay, it's hard to imagine firing Sherman and keeping Philbin.

I live in D.C and if you think that Cousins is better than RGIII you are out of your mind. Going up against a crappy Falcons team he could have ran it in for the win instead he throws the ball into a crowd, in that situation RG3 would have been able to run that in.

Even the game yesterday he completely botched the end of the game throwing 3 uncatchable balls costing them the game. So no Cousins is a good back up, but not RG3 not even close.

I think Philbin's mediocre performance this season is getting overlooked waaaaaaaaay too much because he is a high character guy and the exact opposite of an obnoxious prick like Rex Ryan. I don't think he deserves a pass for how this team has played overall but people on here want so badly for him to succeed that everyone wants to put everything on Sherman and Ireland and none of it on Philbin.

Truth is, while I expect Philbin to survive this season, he has been a huge disappointment as a leader and game-day manager. He has done some nice things and is not terrible by any means, but he has been so up and down this season that you cannot call his performance as our head coach this season anything more than mediocre.

Funny -> the answer is I don't have the players to run this scheme

Funny -> We don't have a "mudder" RB or a TE for inclement weather

Funny -> We don't have a "workhorse" minded Oline

We sure had all those components against the Steelers just two weeks ago.
