Thoughts On This Play By Tua - Is The Commentator Right?

We can agree to disagree and that’s fine you are entitled to your view, but respectfully i think you are wrong on this one, IMO a better thrown ball with more force leads to a walk in TD.

I just don’t think Hamlin is catching Reek in a straight line especially when he starts off aleady behind on the play due to having play the seam route
"You don't think", listen it's a bunch of crap. Until you can get in Hamilin's head and understand what he was thinking on that exact play none of you can guarantee a TD there, no matter what hoops or anyone says

Why do I have to be in Hamlins head? I’m sure he’s thinking “oh **** I’m late”

😂

That Philly tape is one of tuas top 5 game tapes when you separate qb and what he can control from everything else.

Agreed I think it might be his best game as a pro even though game didn’t go as planned. Int hurts it alittle as it was a little forced but looked like PI.

I still question if that was what waddle was designed to run. Mostert cooks his man but instead of waddle clearing out the space both waddle and mostert are within like 4 yards of each other and waddles man picks it. Tua threw off back foot because cotton got absolutely worked and driven into his lap but think it gets completed if slay isn’t so close due to waddle. Just seems unlike McDaniel to draw something up with such a bunching.

I don’t need to get in his head, it’s obvious from the picture exactly what he was doing and that he was initially playing for the seam route as well, so he wouldn’t have had the angle to catch a player as fast as Reek…it’s easier to watch it in the All-22, I wish I knew how to be technically literate and show the video

I’m not expecting perfection at all, I’m merely analyzing this specific throw…like why does it have to be anything more than that? There are no hidden motives I have, Tua played amazing this game and it’s in his top 5 best games ever in my book but this throw could’ve been thrown better and I feel like he left points on the board. It was still a good throw, as it was a 30 yard gain

But it is as that’s the purpose of the thread. Video questions the throw and states it’s the reason Miami lost the game.

We can’t just throw out all context as to how we got here and why it’s being analyzed.

I completely disagree with the premise of that throw being the reason we lost the game because as you said, then that would require perfection from the QB and you can’t ask that of any QB. I think he could’ve thrown a better ball and maybe we win the game with a touchdown there, but still can’t fault Tua for losing the game on one throw in a game he played THAT well

I watched the all-22, seems ridiculous to be saying it "definitely" was going to this or that. there's zero way you know

But you're not sure, maybe he knew the play call and was heading right for Tyreek
You can tell in the first picture that’s not the case, or he would have been shading towards Reek from the beginning and not risk the angle like that.

I just thought it was apparent from the pictures where Hamlin was playing for the ball, but if you watched the All-22 and came up with a different conclusion I can respect that, I just don’t agree.

I don’t agree, I think he threw it off his back foot when he felt pressure and if he drove it in there the safety didn’t have time to recover. If you look at the first and 2nd still:

You will notice that Tyreek slowed up adjusting to the ball and still went from the 26 yard line in the first still to 16 yard line in the 2nd, meanwhile Hamlin has only covered about 5 yards because he was defending the seam and has to readjust his backpedal while Reek is running in a straight line…and this is with Reek slowing up, so if Tua drove it in there he wouldn’t have had time to recover. It’s even more obvious watching the all-22 live

Again, can someone post the all-22 video. Still shots show nothing to me.

If someone can show me how to do that I would love to but I’m too old and dumb to figure that out on my own. I can also give someone my login if they know how so we can settle this debate

It’s a double move, all out and up (hence the pump). Safety is clearly playing to 10 side. It’s a 29 yard competition. Not sure why you guys are arguing about it.

Exactly on point with the pump fake. It was not needed in this situation and actually hindered the play.

One thing with Tua is, if his mechanics aren't perfect, his throws suffer immensely. I think if he threw to Hill right away without the pump fake, he would've hit him in that perfect window between the CB and the safety over the top...
the entire play is based off the pump fake. its a double move, all 4 receivers run out then up, it's designed to tyreek. stop with the nonsense if you have no clue what your talking about!!!

i gave kev my login so he could watch the play, so do you think it would have been a touchdown if he drove the ball better and got it there faster?
