Time to let the offense run this team...

No running game right now. Not seeing it. Great 1st and goal but the team ain't putting up zero drives with running game. That's got to change. You can't be one dimensional.

Fins have the best passing offense in the NFL right now and a middle of the pack running game... lolwtf?

Biggest problem w/ the blitz frequency/timing was that Buffalo had it installed to replace the blitzer. They’d release directly behind where the blitz came from and they did it early and often the first TD nonetheless. Pitch and catch. So I don’t think the blitzes were a bad idea but defaulting to them on 3rd downs was a pain bc it was evident from the first drive that they were prepared for that. It’d be one thing if they weren’t

We pulled it off tho. Great team win

The blueprint to attack Miami has been capitalizing on the Phins second level and LB mismatches within 10-yards of LOS. Buffalo, Baltimore, and NE all found success in this space. Cincinnati will likely scheme Hunter Henry, Tyler Boyd, and Joe Mixon to test for weak coverage. Agree we need to continue to bring pressure, especially against Burrow and this line, since he holds on to the ball a little too long and is vulnerable to pressure off the edges.

Hunter Henry is a Patriot.

About the blitzing part.

Its easy to be results oriented after the fact. But blitzing worked, it got 2 sack fumbles(one recovered by the Fins) and multiple shots at Interceptions(that were missed). Im just going to pull a number out of my ass and say the Fins capitalized on 1 out of 5 opportunity for TOs. Blitzing more will accomplish 2 things, it'll lower the amount of time the defense is on the field and increase the TO opportunities. Sure this will also increase variance and will put more points on the board for the opponent as well. But it will also put your best unit on the field much more often.

In much simpler words... Its time for the D to **** or get off the pot.

The blitzing really had Allen shook. He rarely tried to push the ball downfield because the pressure was getting to him and he made quite a few mental mistakes. Really wish we were getting better pressure from rushing 4 guys, but it worked well containing him

This was a great win... No other way around it but I think it shouldnt have been this close to begin with. I've read alot of comments in game and after the game about how the Fins D shouldnt have blitzed as much as they did and... I completely disagree. In Fact, they didnt blitz enough IMO.

The Fins offense right now after 3 games is pretty much top 5 everywhere it matters except for points scored.

  • YPA: 2nd
  • TD%: 2nd
  • QB rating: 2nd
  • Passing TDs 4th
  • Rushing TDs: 14th
  • Overall point scoring: 6th
  • Number of offense plays: 26th

So the Fins offense is obviously rolling right now, but they're stuck, they aint on the field enough. Now as a Fins fan, we're used to 3 and outs being the problem here but it isnt this time around. The Fins are:

  • #1 in average time per drive
  • #6 in average plays per drive
  • #1 in average points per drive

So what does the defense and their blitzing have to do with this? Well here's the defense per drive breakdown.

  • 18th in average time per drive
  • 16th in average time per drive
  • 20th in average point per drive

Long story short... the Fins defense isnt all that good at preventing the other team from scoring on any given drive right now, they're just good at making them last a long time. Sure you're limiting the total number of points they can score in any given game, but you're also limiting the number of opportunities your own offense gets to score on their end. This just contracts the point differential and makes it more likely that you'll rely on a top 5 QB missing a gimme at the goal line for a win.

One thing about yesterday though - the D couldn’t get off of the field in part because they dropped 5 INTs of which at least 3 are normally caught.

  • #1 in average points per drive
Makes sense if this is sustainable, but these numbers are probably inflated because of our success rate so far on deep balls if I had to guess.

Two things.

Our Cover Zero, Zero Blitz, whatever it's called, doesn't really function without Byron Jones out there across from X.

Second, when you blitz you need to succeed. If you can't get the QB on the ground (I know Josh Allen is a tough ask), a competent offense will exploit it.

This game was a perfect example. Blitzing. Without Byron Jones. Not bringing Josh Allen down when you blitzed.

Middle of the pack running game? You been watching? Have a word with yourself. 😂

Thats not true... blitzing increases mistakes both ways. If they capitalize on it, though luck, but you have shortened the units time on the field, giving your offense more opportunities. If your D capitalizes and banks on 3 INTs instead of zero, great! You've put your offense on the field more and in even better situations.

We've got a running game? Sorry. Not seeing it. Defensive game against Pats. 4th Qtr passing epic miracle against Ravens and Bills where the Offense had 200yds isn't middle of the pack running game. Come on. Let's get real about the running game. We havnt seen it yet.

So basically the Dolphins defense should just let the other team score quickly so the Dolphins offense can be on the field more.
Perhaps you don’t realize that the Bills have the top offense in the league and the fact the defense held them to 17 points was phenomenal.

I am perfectly fine with the defense and I really don’t understand anyone complaining about the play of the defense when the team is 3-0. The only game where the defense had trouble preventing the opposition from scoring was the first half of the Ravens game and they came out after halftime and shut down the Ravens offense in the second half.
