Time to Question the leadership in the Ravens' locker room

All of the bullying didn't happen in the locker room. A lot of it happened outside of the locker room. I don't care where he killed them the media doesn't grill Belichick about what he knew and why didn't he keep a closer eye on such a troubled young man. The press and the puppets that believe everything they say wanted Philbins head because he didn't realize that 2 6-4 330 lb men were talking about each others mother! Martin had 2 options and he did neither! He could have told someone or he could have knocked Incognitos ass out colder than a milk shake! He did neither!

Ugh, get over it already. Martin is gone, Incognito is probably committed, and we're stuck with Pouncey because he gets the same preferential treatment all star players get.

It's ludicrous to compare the Hernandez situation and the Martin situation. Not even remotely similar. The biggest issues they had when it came to Philbin was what was happening in the locker room. That was the biggest knock on him. Nobody ripped him for not knowing that Incognito and Martin were going to Pouncey's drug and hooker parties. Nobody in the media is knocking Philbin for sticking with a guy who throws drug and hooker parties. It was for the stuff that happened in the locker room and with the trainers and other staff.

If Hernandez's stuff was spilling over into the locker room, then yes, Belichick should have known. There's nothing to indicate it did. If they are going to investigate Belichick for the possibility (with no evidence) of Hernandez creating a bad work environment, then they will need to investigate the Phins further based on the same amount of evidence (or lack thereof) for Pouncey's alleged involvement in Hernandez's acts, because apparently the HC is responsible for literally everything.

This sounds like the argument the nba uses when they tell you "well he can get that call" or " he has earned the right to get that call" A foul is a foul regardless if you have won 10 rings or 0! Championships shouldn't minimize the fact that Hernandez played for the Patriots after the double homicide in Boston. Just let that sink in for a minute! He was on the team, in games, catching passes from Brady and in meetings with the coaching staff! Belichick doesn't have to answer anymore questions about that other than the 1 press conference they did when they cut him!

I don't see how that compares. I never said there was preferential treatment. I said that any bad news is simply overshadowed by good news and **** teams rarely have anything interesting to write about. Why should the national media give two ****s about a perennial 8-8 team? But I will comment on the NBA statement. You know why Lebron and other stars don't get foul calls? Because they are smart players. It's one of the things that separates the very top of the talent from the next level down. There are plenty of good players that are dumb as rocks. They are also the ones that often get in foul trouble. Lebron? Jordan? You don't see that happening. BTW, that's not homer talk. I'm not a Heat fan. Barely watch the NBA anymore, to be honest.

Back on topic, of course he doesn't have to answer any questions about it because he wasn't involved in any way. However, I have no doubt there were pats fans whining about how Belichick overreacted by immediately releasing Hernandez when he wasn't even convicted yet (probably throwing out phrases they don't understand like, "innocent until proven guilty!!1!" and whatnot) and probably claimed there was a media witch hunt of some kind, because that's exactly what would have happened here if Hernandez played for the Phins. I'm guessing there are insane conspiracy theories over on pats sites about how the league set up the murders to try and bring down the pats because they are tired of them winning and whatnot. Every team has their homers that put their team on to high a pedestal.

That's just an ability to judge talent, of which Johnson had little left. More mouth than talent at that point.

Agreed he was having a horrible preseason, but a few things still present for him to possibly get him on the roster, or at least give him more time before cut. Of the proven receivers, he still had more speed then any of the others (Something Miami wanted to do), Miami at that time was not very deep talent wise at WR, and he was the only true vet Miami also lacked.

Talent evaluation is a tricky thing, if you allow yourself to think you know what you will get with a player, or whether he is done too early, you will allow players like Kurt Warner, Nate Newton, Wes Welker, or Cam Wake to go to another team to become stars....or you will wait too long to draft guys like Tom Brady, Zach Thomas, Terrell Davis to be drafted by someone else, and end up wondering how that happened. You also could let players like Rich Gannon, London Fletcher, Kurt Warner again, or Reggie White go because they are probably done, while watching each looking as good or better. Strange thing this talent evaluation people talk about being such a precise art.

Don't get me wrong I was not a fan of Chad, and yes, I thought he was looking real bad, almost non existent out there, but we don't know what really would have happened to Chad if he had not mixed it up with his loving wife.

If they only cut him for what he did off the field, why didn't they cut Misi or any of the other knuckleheads? If they thought he had anything to offer the team, they would have kept him on and waited to see how it played out. Just like the Ravens are keeping Rice at this point.

Do you honestly think the Ravens will or should cut Rice? If they did, I'm sure you would be the first to argue against signing him and if we did sign him, you'd bash the hell out of the signing and the Dolphins FO. Right?

What Misi did was boneheaded, and also shows anger issues, but you think it's as bad as hitting a women? I agreed with you that Chad did nothing in camp to that point, unlike Misi who did serve a very important purpose against the run, but my point is, take away that incident, and even though we all expected his time was coming to a close, a few factors might have allowed him to survive one more week, and or even still make the roster if he had played well in the remaining pre-season game he never got a chance to play in.

Yea, I want a guy that just knocked out his girlfriend....right. Do you remember what we all went through last year as fans with the bullygate. I don't know about you (You live in NY, so I am sure you do know), but last year I had to hear it from what seemed like every Jets fans at the office where I work, which had more to do with the media overboard reaction then anything else...so No thank you, please keep anger management individuals from this team. I think if we need another RB, let's make it a power back, not a player that has the same skill (Better I grant you) then Miller.

As for should the Ravens cut Rice, he is too good a player, but have they disciplined him, have they even suspended or told him that he will be suspended for his off the field issues? Even one game.

Can we make a list of what legal issues warrant a player being cut? So far I have:

Cut

  • Murder
  • Domestic Violence (unless the bitch be crazy too or even just potentially crazy, then it's cool)
  • Anything a jets or pats player might do

Keep

  • Breaking and entering followed by assault and battery in the victim's residence
  • Domestic Violence if the bitch be crazy too and probably deserved it (unless the player plays for the jests or pats)
  • Throwing illegal drug and hooker parties
  • Anything a Dolphins player may have done that hasn't gone through the entire legal process, including trial AND all appeals; and even then, we just CAN'T be sure unless there is undoctored video, but we know that doesn't happen because the media really, really hates the Miami Dolphins for no reason whatsoever.

Does that cover it all?

All those can get you cut, or none (Ray Lewis).

I think you have more then enough common sense to figure that out all by yourself, and you know very well what I'm saying, if you can't , then can't help you from my side. Sorry

Sorry, did you mean to write Jimmy Wilson?

Oh was Jimmy Wilson flat out involved in a murder with his boys in a gang related incident like Ray? I thought Jimmy Wilson was protecting his sister...Hmm guess I am wrong.

Also, Rays happened as he was in the NFL, while Jimmy's happened while he was still in College...guess I was also wrong on that also.

Edit: Just found out it was actually his Aunt he was protecting.

Oh, we're going by what the courts say? Was Lewis convicted of murder or of misleading police? I believe it was the latter and it landed him what I believe was the largest fine in NFL history at the time. Of course, you'd be making this exact argument if Ray Lewis were a Phin at the time (if he became a Phin after the fact, you'd argue that it didn't matter because it happened before he was a Phin).

Well we were talking about players that did something naughty while being NFL players, you decided to get cute, take liberties and mention If I actually meant Jimmy Wilson, the at the time College player....just following your lead.

OK the Dolphins players are all horrible, they deserve what the media says about them, or how long they continue to say that about them. You win

Not at all what I'm saying. My main point in the thread is that it's okay to take off the tinfoil hat, the meanie media isn't out to get anybody.

Does it happen every single time, no, and it has happened to all teams at one time or another, but to think that right now the media does not rejoice or take special enjoyment in continuing to run with a dolphins story that puts them in a bad light to the point of exhaustion, is a good example or see, hear, or speak no evil.

Do you need a tissue? A blankie? A hug?
