trade rumor: Starks and 2012 draft pick to bengals for palmer. rumor...

How awesomely random. It'd be wild if it happens. Palmer is about the only viable option to keep this from being an entirely lost year. It would still be extremely difficult for him to come in at this point without knowing the offense or having any chemistry. That's a lot of money and value to give up for an older, injury prone QB who wouldn't make you legit until the NEXT year. Starks is our best dlineman. Let's not forget how asinine it was for us to make him gain all that NT weight last year which really hindered the impact of a pro bowl player. But as long as the pick is not a 1st, of course you make this trade.

well then denvers idiots...only thing for them he does is give em a few more meaningless wins in a bound for the basement season...elways making it harder on himself getting his qb in 2012 draft...play tebow and blow chunks and you'll be in good position for your qb next year

it's too bad fans can't orchestrate trades.. based on sentiment on both boards, probably Henne and a 5th would work for Orton. ... however realistically it's the equivalent of substituting shingles for scurvy.

If the Bengals believe in Andy Dalton, why wouldn't they trade Palmer for someone or something to build around Dalton? So dumb.

Plus, Palmer has been a great soldier for them.

I think Stephen Ross told Jeff Ireland no first or 2nd day picks . . . to be honest with you. Ross may rub people the wrong way, but he isn't that dumb (I don't think). He knows the type of Qb's that could be coming out . . . he has talked behind the backs of Sparano and Ireland about "what ifs" . . . trust me, there is a plan in place and I seriously doubt it involves trading for Palmer/Orton.

I think they are settling to be quite honest with you and taking their chances with the new system, upgrade in speed/talent and fate.

Still, I think that roll of the dice works in our favor in the end.

2nd day picks is 3rd round...we already know we offered up a 3rd for orton...it was the pay for play no contract extension that we wouldn't agree to and killed the deal

so ross i don't think has put a lock on future picks in trade...

But is Palmer who we really want for a few years, especially on his current contract? Further, how in the heck is he going to help us this year. If it happens, he will have about 2 weeks to prepare for the season.

It seems to me Palmer has lost some of his arm since the elbow issue. Is he an upgrade over Henne? Yes, but Starks, a pick, and his contract?? IDK

Ok guys I am tired of beating around the bush. Write it down. My new trade rumor: Randy Starks and a high 2012 draft pick to the Bengals for Carson Palmer. That is all for now.

URGHHH. . . SMH. . . :/ Not gonna happen.

I thought that "3rd round talk" was dismissed and it was confirmed that Miami never even offered anything . . . just speculation. In the end, they said Miami wanted to give up a 4th or a 5th for Orton, not a 3rd . . . not to mention the contract extension talk was mehhhhh.

i have always had doubt about henne. It is why i think we are a team somewhere between 8-10 wins. If they could have got kyle orton, i have said i think they are a 10+ win team. With henne, they are an 8+ win team and likely in the playoffs. This team is talented and i think we are a good qb away from being a potential elite team. Would i love to have luck as our qb? Absolutely, but it is not happening with all the talent that is currently on this team. While i think henne will be the starting qb this year, i wouldn't be opposed if they did give moore a legtimate shot.

I think the palmer trade is more of a long short at this moment than the orton trade still happening. Not happening. However, if they did get palmer, i think we could be looking at a deep run in the playoffs and possibly unseating new england at the top of the division.

that.

Actually my understanding was we offered a 3rd rounder and Merling but they wanted a 2nd rounder and a front line DL like Langford, Soliai or Starks.. and then Orton who's gonna be a FA next season and saw how Reed gouged AZ, wanted an extension at at least $9million a year. EVen as a desparation move, way too much to pay for someone who last year who despite overall padded stats, had a 4th qtr QBR of sub 60 and a career 3rd down QBR of 60.8. IMO can't fault Ireland for this one at all.

Im from Cincinnati.....Palmer is a poor mans Kyle Orton at this point in his career. No pocket awareness or mobility, too many dumb picks, not a good leader......wait am I describining Henne?

WELL im from tennessee and i think palmer is a very good QB one that would help us for 2-3 years until we DRAFT our QB next year ,and i think palmer would take us deep into the playoffs if some how we got him.

well those demands on denvers part and ortons if accurate are assinine

i just can't see us moving anyone for Palmer at this point. We need youth and depth. It's a long season. If we're going to get anywhere, we're going to rely on defense.

I hate to think we would have to trade anything at this point. Palmer had a horrid year last season. Certainly makes trying to force the Bengals hand look ridiculous considering he was a major part of the problem. Sometimes I think some players get hyped because of their name and not by their play.

When I look at the UFA list of QBs available I would pick up Bulger, Frye, K.Collins over giving up the future for Palmer. We'll go nowhere with him too. May as well stay with Henne and not have to mortgage the farm for it.
