trade rumor: Starks and 2012 draft pick to bengals for palmer. rumor...

I love Ricky but if he hadn't ditched us that year we very well may have drafted Rodgers.

I go to Butte, Aaron Rodgers JC Alma Mater. He grew up in the same town as me and stuff.. It's crazy to say the least. I remember watching him play in high school.. The guy is so good, an accurate Ben Roth.

That's harsh to lay on Ricky. Lay it on Saban where it belongs. If you don't have a franchise QB you take one that's just sitting there regardless of who's your RB. Actually a RB at 2 is just about always a bad idea.

Not laying it on Ricky, it was just the circumstances. Ricky's departure was unexpected, so all of a sudden there was a pressure to fix the unanticipated problem by replacing the franchise back. These hindsight comments on Rodgers are funny because very few people (fans or analysts) were actually calling for us to take Rodgers at the time. He was somewhat of a darkhorse, last second thing to be taken at #1 or #2. I was following it closely because I was at Cal while Rodgers played for us and I wanted nothing more than the Phins to draft him.

WHAT DO WE WANT with a qb who is often injured and gun shy and couldnt succeed with some pretty great wr talent?

its apparent he is over, his last couple seasons were awful and he was short arming a lot of wide open guys, taking sacks.

no way i want that trade. no way i want him at all!!!

I would like to add Palmer if it doesn't cost us early picks so we can still get another QB early - we need to become a QB factory and as it is we haven't found Mr. Reliable - but Henne will be servicable this year just not that lightning in a bottle that all of us want

Palmer is retired and will remain retried... Bengals are not gonna trade him..Mike Brown is not going to reward him for what he has done to their franchise..

accept to those who were smart and knew talent and knew you take a qb over a rb who never had a starting job from jr hi to college.

like green bay!!

and frisco! even though smith hasnt become the perenial pro bowler they invisioned, thats the right move when you draft, you take the qb over ANYTHING else. miami still hasnt figured that out.

matt ryans overrated around here...he's a franchise qb no doubt...but top 5 or in that window??? get the heck out of here

that said with ryan by now i would think we'd have assembled a roster that would contend for the long term...franchise qbs change outlooks in a hurry

uh oh i see trouble brewing

That price would mean Miami is NOT going to draft a QB for, at the very least, a couple of years. We would be set at QB, so there would be no reason.

Yes, we would be a very good team, but in 3-4 years we would be right back where we started. And I don't think this team is Superbowl bound with Palmer.

at palmers age he would be good for us for about 2-3 years and imo the most we need is a G and TE . so if we got palmer ,next year draft a QB in first rd and instead of throwing him in the fire let him learn behind palmer till hes ready for instance look at rogers (GB) he sit behind favre for 2-3 years but when he came in to start he was one hell of a QB ,thats why i say palmer would be good for us 2-3 years and that would give our QB we draft that long to learn and wouldnt have to throw him in right away we can get our G TE in 3-5 th rounds thats where most draft those kind of players anyways

looks like you are (chewey) lmmfao J/K

Well stated. /sarcasm

Anyhow, Nublar's in la la land on what he thinks Merling is worth. There are starters in this league who don't fetch a third or fourth round pick, to say nothing of an injured backup with character concerns who didn't even play well when he played. It's a typical fan self-delusion where because we want to feel something other than bad about having spent a high second round pick on Merling people will convince themselves that he might have value to someone else so when he does leave we can at least feel somewhat good about it.

The only problem is it ignores reality.
