Trill Williams, Sam Eguavoen and the direction of this team

Just do us all a favor and leave permanently please

What happened? Now you don't like that I am blind homer like yourself. Come on bro. You guys aren't happy regardless what I say.

Is that better?

You guys are so right. WTF was I thinking? I wasn't thinking. We are gonna ****ing spank every *** that gets in our way.

Tua is gonna be MVP of the league. Waddle and Fuller are going to play every game and have over1000 yards receiving each, as well as Gesicki and DVP with 10 TD's each.

Don't get me started on the running game. Myles Gaskin and Salon Ahmed are about to put the league on notice. Multiple 1000 yard rushers with double digit TDs each.

No one is going to get injured and all of our rookies are going to win rookie of the year. ****ing Christ what a time to be a Dolphin fan.

See guys I am just like you guys. No need to be mad or distraught. We got this in the bag. I don't even know why we have to play the games cause it is foregone conclusion that we are an elite team.

We didn't overachieve last year, we actually underachieved, because everyone was talking about us going deep in the playoffs.

First off I understand and also have concern over the way and approach this organization confronts the OL. Been discussed over and over to where whoever doesn't get it probably will never get it till way to late, which could be even now but games will be the telling factor.Certainly not like Flores's Defensive approach and understanding which has shown to be highly efficient.

But coming in here looking for insight and half the time reality is also a foolish understanding. I as seems like you have deep strong convictions whether right or wrong and IMO could not care less what negative response received by Fans,,,Fans who have little to no actual understanding of what basic Football 101 is.
So be the Adult and not need to bitch about what posters say or relevance of their speal or they are trols or negative downers. Find the few who you believe knowledgeable enough to get proper feed back and shine on the rest, with obviously also to much time on their hands. JMO

Now that we’ve had our first glimpse at the 53 man roster, I’ve been doing some reading on a few guys who fought the odds to stick with this team and these two stick out to me. If you look into both of these guy’s backstories and their respective paths that brought both to the Dolphins, it becomes extremely clear that these guys are on this team because they eat, sleep, and breathe the game of football. We hear players say all the time that the NFL “is a business”. Well these 2 guys aren’t here because football is a job. They’re here because football is their life.

It’s no coincidence that these guys are on a team coached by Brian Flores and it’s definitely not a coincidence that as Coach Flores is set to begin only his 3rd year in Miami, he has managed to nearly turn over an entire roster and fill it with guys who share the same passion and dedication to the game of football and for each other. Sure, the rebuild that was set forth just over 2 years ago isn’t 100% finished. There’s still some holes, some weaknesses, and certainly things that will still need fixing, but I’ve gotta say, as a Dolphin fan for nearly 40 years, I’ve seen some pretty soft Dolphin teams, some pretty soft Dolphin head coaches, and more than a few 53 man rosters that were just here to collect their paycheck. It feels pretty damn good right now to have a football team and a Head Coach that are taking the field each Sunday because they have to. Because they love it. Because they love playing alongside each other and playing for their HC.

Stephen Ross has made more than his fair share of really bad decisions as Dolphins owner, but at the end of the day, the most recent big decision he had to make might end up being mentioned alongside the decision to hire Don Shula or to draft Dan Marino. He decided to hire Brian Flores. This is going to be a big season. The next step is going to be taken and that’s going to put us at the threshold of something us Dolphin fans haven’t seen or felt in a REALLY long time. Too long, in fact. The MIAMI DOLPHINS are back, and I for one, can not ****ing wait!!!
Excellent read!

Ignored

I don't know why I'm bothering, but here goes......

It's not because of one single post that ppl form thier overall opinion of a poster.

Some posters, because of posting history over time, come to be seen as just plain negative about everything.

It's fine, and fair, to criticize if that is one's opinion. Unless the poster also gives credit where due though, and only has focus for the negative, it gets old, and their opinions generally get dismissed as just the views of a constant malcontent.

Take that as you will. Just some food for thought.
Negativity is his schtick. It’s why I ignored him. If you’re going to be negative about a player, coach or the organization back it up with facts. Facts are unicorns around here lately.

Wanny inherited a pretty good team with a top flight defense who kept them in games. His lack of personnel prowess ran the team into the ground along with the refusal to go after a franchise QB.

Sparano was helped with a last minute signing in Pennington but the first year success was short-lived after they decided Jake Long was a right decision over Matt Ryan. The whole "old school" regime with Parcels (and Ireland) was WAY behind the times. Sparano was a good coach who got screwed by a terrible front office situation and lack of talent.

Gase was a train wreck who was completely lost and his inability to lead was his downfall. He never should have been a head coach. Winning 10 games in 2016 was an anomaly. I could say similar things about Joe Philbin. Neither were able to lead men

Flores time in Miami feels much different as they have overachieved every year and shown improvement every year AND he started from scratch with a complete roster rebuild.

Just my opionion.
I totally agree that the weakness of Wannstedt was his inability to add real talent to the roster during his time as the HC. Yet he did a decent job as the head coach with the players he inherited from Jimmy Johnson. In his first 4 years as the Dolphins HC, he was 40-23 and led the Dolphins to the playoffs 2 times. By year 5 his lack of, “personnel prowess” had depleted the team of most of its talent and along with mediocre play at the QB position, his 1-8 record in that season is the reason he was fired.

Demanding that he be given final say on all players drafted and signed in free agency before he agreed to become the Dolphins HC is ultimately what costs him his job and led to the lack of talent on the Dolphins roster in the years immediately after his firing. Huizenga should have never agreed to giving him final say in the draft. Especially when than meant Spielman was basically useless as the teams GM during the time he worked with Wannstedt.

As bullish as I am on Miami medium term, i just don't think this upcoming season will show the team in its very best light. The schedule is tough, there's an enormous vacuum of experience in the roster, the injury profile in some key spots isn't great and there's a bit of a lack of star power

I can see us repeating last year's type success, realistically.

But all this bargain basement shopping and roster trimming is surely to build a warchest for some key FA signings that really can transform this team.

And having a good team with - most importantly - a QB who has just shown he's an NFL calibre player, is likely to help attract in talent.

Love the coach, relatively happy with the FO, happy with the roster's trajectory and with the QBs ceiling. But let's not kid ourselves that a bunch of kids and store returns is going to sweep the nation. 1-2 more seasons and some key team additions and then we can talk.

We'll certainly be able to bid on a number of players next year if we choose to do that.

I'm generally not if favour of doing that, but the money is there and one or two targeted acquisitions may be in order.

You are right. Nobody likes what you say when you purposely format your responses to generate noise. It actually doesn't have much to do with the thread or subject matter when you vomit sarcasm everywhere. The posts and responses in here were good reads, aside from yours.

They need to sign Gesicki and Ogbah to new contracts, IMO and depending on how Fuller plays they might have to pay him a lot more than $10 million to resign him if they decide they want to keep him. Wilson and Williams will also be free agents after the season and hopefully Howard won’t demand more money if he has another great 2021 season.

So while on paper they look like they will have a lot of cap space if they decide to go after free agents of other teams. A lot will depend on how much they spend on signing their own free agents if they decide to sign them instead of letting them go in free agency.

Considering Fuller's career long injury arc, and the fact that he is primarily a deep threat, rather than a well rounded WR, I've been predicting a one and done in Miami... like Van Noy and the rest.

I believe that we'd be better off drafting for this position... or better yet, allowing Merritt to take a crack at it. He is the exact same sort of receiver.

Gesicki for sure... he's my primary keep. Ogbah, because of his age seems to be a two year at a time guy. Like him, don't love him.

It’s always comical to me how “fans” equate pro bowlers to success. We live in a world of stats and fantasy football and individual “success”. Flores is building a team that is selfless and putting team first. Those that do not follow the mantra are out. The Miami receiving corps this year could easily have five guys over 60 catches and 700 yards. The ball will be spread out to a committee of players. Similarly at RB. Similarly with the sexy stat of sacks. Stats get you into the Pro Bowl. They do not get you into the playoffs. The only stat we need to be concerned with are wins. This team is deep with RKGs (right kinda guys) and the culture is 100% changed from a combined quagmire of softness, mediocrity, embarrassment and leadership turnover. Dolphin Nation let’s pull together and support the process.

The issue at WR going into next season is Williams, Fuller, Grant, and Wilson are all free agents. That means only Parker and Waddle are signed to a 2022 contracts at the WR position for the team.

The Dolphins will either have to sign a few of these free agent WR’s to larger contracts or spend a lot of money to bring in a top tier WR in free agency if one is available. They will likely be drafting toward the bottom of the first round in the 2022 draft and finding a top level WR at that position is usually a hit and miss proposition at best.

While I agree Fuller’s history could make him one and done with the Dolphins. It would be great if he can stay healthy and have a great season. He is still young enough and talented enough to be a player they can build around if he can stay healthy and be productive in 2021.

They have to make damn sure they target the right 1 or 2…FAs traditionally, by a large percentage, fall off with their new team.

At this point, it will most likely change. I resign Fuller and Wilson. Bowden replaces Grant. Trade DVP, sign Adams
