What does Joe do well as a coach? I am not asking rhetorically. Does he game plan well? Does he motivate? Play call? Hire a great staff? Develop?

Let's hire a coach and tell them after there first loss they get fired. Cause clearly the first sign of adversity shows they aren't cut out to lead.
Maybe 1 game contracts. Then we can get a great sample of their game planning ability and motivational characteristics. Which are only evident by the CBS coverage when they show the coach.
He's not a moron. Beyond that who the **** knows what he does or doesn't do well, I don't and neither do you. If he wins the next few years I'm sure somebody will be jonny on the spot and point it out. I have a pretty good nose for what coaches turn out to be terrible and Philbin doesn't smell terrible to me, its much harder to predict greatness but I'm pretty sure he's not terrible at the very least.
Seriously? You cannot tell what a coach's strengths and weaknesses are?
Joe's has been stubborn with his belief systems, terrible at adjusting at half time, lousy in motivating his troops in big spots, questionable at being able to finish games and uneven at best developing talent.
I would give him credit for being steady with his team during the Martin saga. However, I am wondering more if this is "coaching" or his being a strong administrator?
Horrible comparison with Marvin Lewis. Not to mention, there were a few instances where Lewis was on the verge of parting ways with the Bengals. A lot of questions about how much input Lewis should have in personnel decisions, etc. It has been a bumpy ride. But Lewis has good coordinators, they've made some very good personnel moves - drafting AJ Green, Bernard, taking shot on Burfict, etc.
And I would not want to aspire to keeping a coach who hasn't won a damn thing in 11 years.
