This is going to be blasphemous but ..... Bob Griese wasn't that good..... He was a game manager QB who road the back of a sick defense and awesome Running Game ( Earl Morral did just fine when he was out too)

Unretire that number

We only have 3 retired numbers. Just need to get one of the bum WR to give up their number for an 80s one and he’s good to go. I’d take Williams’ 18 for his college number + draft position.

I don't understand so he can take 13 (Marino) but he can't take 12 (Griese)..

Why is Griese protected but Marino is not? both have their numbers retired and Griese i wouldn't even put in a list of top 20 QB's of all time.

Who care what number he get. The only thing count is can he play at high level

5 would be good but for some reason it's not one of the choices

2 for 2ua....

Morrall did just fine until he was losing us the AFC Championship Game....that Griese had to come in and win.

That’s what I also thought, but 2 right now is Matt Haack. Although I can’t see a punter denying the new franchise QB his number if he really wanted it
I would personally live to see him as #2 or #3 but he doesn't seem like the guy to get a punter to change his number (nevermind another QB.) When he said "I'll take any number they give me" makes it seem like he is probably looking at an available number. But just my opinion.

I've been checking for his jersey number, just browsing NFL shop seeing what jersey I want...

...they've already got Tua autographed Dolphins memorabilia on their website   Those people don't play around! Kid hasn't stepped foot in Davie as a Dolphin and he's already autographed boxes of items lol

I strongly believe in judging players to their counterparts of the same era. As a QB who started his career at the beginning of the Super Bowl era (1966) by the time he retired he was 3rd in TD's, 5th in yards, 11th in QB rating and 2nd in wins. Personal accolades include most pro bowls of any QB of his era with 8 and tied for most 1st team All Pro's. His TD% is also higher than Dan Marino's which means potentially if given the opportunity to air it out more he might have been a more prolific TD scorer than as we know him today.
