Tua's 12.2 average yards per completion is pretty good.

Cool cool cool 1 game... yup yup.

So rather than per completion.. let's look at in air per attempt.

Simply because per completion includes YAC .

This season
Herbert-7.4
Tua-7.0

Hmm, more than 1 game sample size.

Looks to me like YAC appears to be the diferrence between top tier and Tua.

I have no idea how many screen passes the Chargers throw that would bring that number down? But I don’t need all that to see which man is more physically able to throw the ball down the field when they need to!

Herbert has double the completions over 20 yards and triple the completions over 40 yards than Tua.

Your suggesting it’s just YAC that accounts for that? So therefore I guess Waddle, who leads the team in receptions must suck at YAC….?

Fun fact..

If Herbert has more 20 and 40 yard completions than Tua. Yet they have similar "in air" per pass attempt numbers.

Then that means Herbert checks it down or throws more passes under 5 yards than Tua.

Funny how that works huh?

But it still seems like you are conflating "per completion" and "in air" stats.

It's ok though. I understand. We won't let facts get in the way of your narrative.

Oh and Waddle?

Yes his YAC sucks. It's less than 4 yards a catch.

But you see, unlike some I understand context.

I don't hold Waddle responsible for playcalling that doesn't enable him to get YAC even when hit in stride. I.e. 4 yards outs to the sideline.

When utilized properly his YAC will go up...or... we will see more 35 yard in air completions.

But again, I look at context for all players.... not just ones I like.

But it doesn't appear you do based on this attempt of a "gotcha" question of yours.

Dangit.. I said gotcha. Now rather than you focusing on the topic I gave you an out to deflect.

Silly gryphonk

How dare you compare Tua to those 2. Facts and stats don't matter. Come on man.

Just curious... what is Tua in air per attempt compared to Herbert, Burrow and MAC jones
Not sure where to find it. I'm sure he's behind them right?

Not at all, I can watch them both play and see who is a more capable downfield thrower.

Jay Cutler also had a strong arm that could sling it down the field and was a very capable downfield thrower.

Chad Pennington didn't.

Which one would you rather have?

Baker Mayfield has thrown the farthest football in a game in NFL history. Does that make him the best of all time?

Why are you arguing who can throw the ball farthest? That does not make you the best.

My dad can beat up your dad.

Cool, deflect again. That's not what this was about.

It also doesn't take a genius to watch them both and see the diferrence in YAC.

Which just last season Herbert's receivers had 85% more.

Its probably just you
It might be. Not saying I'm right. Just seeing if others thought the same. To me, it really did look like that. Compared to Jackson, who has much more velocity on his throws, and it looks much less effortless.

Either way, he did exactly what was needed to win so I'm super happy and thankful for that

YAC and windows are actually calculated we don’t need an eye test to know that Herberts targets ran down and across the field wide open compared to the tight windows Fitz/Tua threw into

It has nothing to do with crappy Oline

Are bombs the only measuring stick for validating yards? I would challenge that bombs are just as much a product of the receiver as the qb. Tua instantly recognized the defensive breakdown and took advantage of it. Why shouldn’t he get credit for that? It’s the QBs job to find the open man and that’s what he did. It’s not like it was a shovel pass behind the line of scrimmage that went for 50 yards. It was a beautifully thrown ball where the receiver didn’t have to break stride. Oh yeah, and with his injured hand.
This guy will try to find something negative about anything good Tua does . Its actually really nice not seeing his posts .
