Exactly.

Either people are ignoring it or just haven't looked at it.

60% of our starting o line is an injury risk. 20% Ilis Eichenberg.

Based on recent history, there is a very realistic chance Miamis starting lineup by week 5 will be
Paul/Jones/Brewer/Eichenberg/ K. Smith.

Does anyone seriously have any confidence in that lineup? No amount of D lineman or DBS will fix that

This organization has di$%Ed Tua around for 4 years. McDaniel is the only one that seems to have any respect for Tua, in the decision making area.

I hope Tua breaks the bank and doesn't settle for any less. He and this organization deserves it IMO
He'll get his due, I would bet on it. If he settles for anything under Trevor I would fall on the floor. If anyone doesn't think he is going to set the market I want what they're smoking.

So Lawrence got paid because he has these magical tools to be great yet hasn't shown it.

Tua's shown what he can do by leading the league in many categories but doesn't deserve to be paid?
I was trying to justify why the Jags extended Lawrence. I am a big Tua supporter.

I don`t see how that`s doing him a favor , it`s screwing him out of money . i can see the brutal for the dolphins point . but then what`s more brutal for the dolphins tagging him or letting him go . Still have to pay someone else and you get what you pay for .

He’d get two years of big money and STILL get a big contract.

The Dolphins would be the only ones screwed because they have to cut a bunch of players to afford those tags. Just like Kirk Cousins in Washington and then Minnesota.

Not to mention the two years of constant distractions that this situation would potentially cause.

If you tag him for $55M next year, you need to create a lot of cap space for that kid of hit. Then you’d have to give him a 20% raise in 2026.

Avoiding that type of situation is an absolute necessity for a cap strapped team.

What you’re suggesting is basically a fully guaranteed two year for about $120M. Which will likely be even more once Mahomes contract is re-done, like Clark Hunt said they’ll have to do soon.

Don't disagree with the thinking but if you believe he is the guy you pay him now. Because he absolutely will break the bank with a playoff win under his belt. I for one would pay the young man now.
He'd be worth it then tho right? He'd have proved he's worth the $ if he helps miami win a playoff game or more importantly if he takes miami in a deep playoff run. One issue is he might be upset about it that even if miami is willing to pay him the money he wants, he might ask for a trade to another team so miami could lose Tua playing this game

Trevor Lawrence's oline was also junk and he was throwing to a semi washed ridley and Evan Ingram. He was getting back in rhythm last year until his favorite target got hurt. I hope I'm wrong but I think lawrence is a better qb than Tua.

Both very good, Trevor has the prototypical build

lawrence is like herbert. They both have the prototypical build and the media and fans fawn over them as a result.

At this moment, Lawrence may be the most overrated QB in the NFL. Imo, he's still living off the hype he had coming out because his performance has been pedestrian to this point.

You sound like a petulant homer, scro. If Lawrence is the most overrated QB, what does that make Tua lol?

Trevor is 2 years younger, bigger, stronger, more mobile and durable. He might not be as accurate as Tua but to say he's overrated and Tua isn't is laughable.

This thread is so frustrating to read. As if Grier has a magic button he can press to get a deal done. What if Tua's agent has always pushed for $60m?

A lot of you guys act like Tua is sat there ready to sign and Grier is the only blocker. In reality it's more likely to be the other way around. You're acting like it's a fact that they previously were asking for less than Lawrence's $55m. You do not know that.

Grier's interests are keeping as much cap as possible in order to invest more in the roster holistically going forward. Tua and his agent's interests are their own pockets and nothing else. Yet Grier is the bad guy here?

It's too easy to hate on Grier because he's in a tie and not out there throwing the ball. In reality he's the one with you team's interests in his heart and head, not Tua.

He's earned his money, he'll get it. Let's hope it works out well for the Dolphins and it's not the last time we're talking about Tua negotiating a top $ contract with Miami in his career.
like I’ve been saying if Tua is on board with his agent asking for that then he can **** off, and I say that because there is something wrong with you if you don’t want to work with us on a fair deal

Instead of the “market”, the more appropriate phrase is “the revenue is the revenue” imo.

That’s what contracts are negotiated on, not whether Tua is better than Mahomes, or everyone would be paid below him.

As long as fans are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for things like YouTube TV, etc to watch QBs like Goff, Tua, and Lawrence then they are $50+M QBs.

No, it's not
Yes it absolutely is given T-Law’s performance in the league. But it’s also not because the league is how it is with each new contract leap frogging the previous.

Highest paid will never mean best. Hell, Lawrence is maybe a top 15 QB right now. Yet he’s the highest paid.

nah, he's really good as is Tua

If Jags are going pay Lawrence. You need pay Tua too. Nfl just giving away money too QBs. At leased we make playoff. That good reason pay Tua.
