And how do you know that for sure? Do you think he would do better than Dak if he was on the Cowboys? I don't because I believe Tua is a system QB. If he isn't in the right offensive system then he will struggle.
What system is that?

He won in the Alabama system, he even won in the Flores system and now he's a winning QB in the McDaniel system.

They will get a deal done.

Nobody should be surprised about negotiations or firm stances……I am sure Tua’s agent is also firm on what they want just like the Fins are.

Somebody will budge a little and they will come to an agreement. Would be interesting to know how far apart they are

I don't buy the whole "only a system QB" argument.

Do different guys have different strengths and weaknesses? Absolutely, but if they have the mental acumen, they can absorb the philosophy and nuances of most schemes.

Here's the mirror of what you asked. How would Dak do in Miami. My guess is it wouldn't look pretty.

I'm wondering if Ross has his eye on Dak Prescott. It's a tin-foil hat theory but Ross has a wondering eye for QBs and Dak is a free agent next year.

I'm convinced that it's Ross holding up this deal. And I bet he's like 10 million or more off what Tua is asking. Again just my dumbass hunch based of nothing but it's where my gut is leading me.

Would make 0 sense. He’s not a fit for this offense plus Tua is at his level and younger. The flaw on dak is he folds at the end of season which is arguably the same for Tua.

The difference is Tua has continued to grow and this may not be his final form, meanwhile I’d say it’s tough to change your career path at 32 or however old dak is.

I have more confidence in Dak doing better with the Dolphins than Tua doing better with the Cowboys.

I doubt it gets done at this point
And I have no clue if it’s a good or a bad thing

Talk to me when he wins in the playoffs or beats good teams on a consistent basis. Until then it's all fluff and even Mac Jones won at Alabama. He had a chance prove himself in the regular season finale last year against the Bills at home with the division title on the line and he was awful in that game along with the whole offense.

Go 6-11. But I doubt he will set out this year, but next year on the tag who knows. That’s if they can even get down the 42 million to tag him.
I'm not even talking about next year or beyond.

I mean THIS year.

What happens if Tua is sick of the BS from this franchise and decides to sit and ask for a trade?

What are the Dolphins going to do?

Tuas gonna....

A) Hold out

B) Demand a trade

C) Play this season on his rookie deal and then get tagged, while demanding a trade

D) Dolphins cave and pay him

My money is on C

I will go with E...

Team Tua eventually takes a slight discount back from what they want, while the Dolphins finally take a big step up to come close to what they want.

In the end it will not be Goff or Lawrence money, but somewhat close...Maybe, big maybe, a bit more guaranteed spread out.

The point I was attempting to make is that the 50m or 55m headline is irrelevant and not real anyway. It is meaningless press release fluff.

You don't know anything, and can't judge the contract without knowing the details.

I'm struggling with "meaningless." There's a reason negotiations take so long. The number means a lot when managing cap this year and future years.
You are right about the salary being restructured - quite common. Valid point. But I still think holding out for a 'little more' isn't wise except for psychology

Meaningless in that a contract that is promoted as (for example) 56m per, and one that is promoted as 49m per can have the exact same guaranteed money with an "out" option the same year, and similar dead money.

Is there then really any actual difference between the two?

Did you look at the Lawrence contract structure, out option and cap hits?

Is that really a 55m per contract as it was advertised?

Than they will have his replacement next yr also. Mike white might surprise us and win starting job.

I don't but because of Tua's physical limitations he probably wouldn't succeed in every offensive system. Similar to Drew Brees when he struggled with the Chargers before he signed with the Saints and had Sean Payton as his head coach. That is when his career took off.
