Tua's Next. Be prepared.

Defenses will continue to disguise this pre-snap look and confuse him when the play goes live. Hopefully not but if I'm McD and Grier, this would be my greatest concern. Thankfully McD has built this system and Grier has brought in the weapons for him to excel without requiring much thought post snap. It does however require exceptional anticipatory passes and timing with Wrs, which I give him all the credit for. Having said that, I believe Tua's game would be exposed if it wasn't for the blessed situation he has with Miami. If I were him, I would take the best offer and be grateful.

For two seasons in a row the Dolphins performance has collapsed. Maybe a 'complete offensive overhaul' is what's needed.

And that’s on Tua? That has more to do with coaches not adapting and injuries. Line is expected to play quickly with its starters, not down 3 to 4 linemen all year. In order to mask oline play that doesn’t hold up for 3 seconds and is even worse with backups in we have a ton of weapons who were all banged up towards the end of the season. Tua cost us 0 games last year. We’ve also had a bottom 10 defense and simply don’t win games unless Tua plays lights out. There’s absolutely no reason to be that dependent on a qb unless yours is named Mahomes.

Which teams?
For the recent draft the Bears, Commanders, Patriots and Broncos all used their first round pick on a QB, and they will pay their new QB a rookie contract. Do you think any of those four teams would have given their 1st round pick in exchange for Tua? I don't think so.
Why are we talking about 1st? If Miami doesn’t sign him he’s a free agent, there’s no firsts needed.

Broncos would be all over Tua and Nix would be on the street in a second if Tua is available. Payton would absolutely jump on the chance to recreate his offense with the saints. Tua is a Brees clone and would thrive under Payton.

Giants if Daboll survives the year. Jones’ guaranteed money I believe is over end of this year and Daboll was Tua’s OC at Alabama and begged Saban to play Tua over Hurts but Saban refused. Daboll got his wish at the halftime of the national championship game and I believe you know what happened.

Wouldn’t put it past Tomlin and the steelers, both Russ and Fields free agents after this year and that defense has carried that team for years, honestly wouldn’t be asked much

I’m not going to go through team by team as coaches will change so who knows for all we know some of these rookies look awful some of the guys like Bryce Young may not improve, any team that’s not committed to a 40-50 million guy with ton of guaranteed money is an option. At the very least Tua is a well like player with a huge Polynesian and Alabama following that will put fans in the seats. He’s constantly finishing as a top vote getter in the pro bowl and jersey sales, nfl is a business after all.

Former coach Flores seemed to think Tua's work ethic was questionable, he's injury prone, is immobile ,and in four seasons as a Dolphin has not led the team to a playoff victory. These are the issues and questions prospective teams would have regarding Tua, and my guess is that Dolphins management has these same concerns.

Ohh you mean the guy that currently doesn’t have a head coaching gig? The same Flores that was 10-17 as a head coach without Tua at qb? Those same teams were 15-7 with Tua playing btw….

Flores was a bozo that was actively sabotaging Tua. Not sure how this is still a debate after 2 years of the guy leading the nfl in every major passing category. I also have reason to believe Flores was keeping Tua out of games he was healthy enough to play in order to play his guys. You can see evidence of a healthy upset Tua sulking on the sidelines vs Texans as Roberts consoles him statingn “it’s coaching”

He then enters the game at half vs the ravens the next week after Brissett was awful and absolutely shreds the ravens. This makes me question the random “finger injury” in practice his rookie year and the rib injury year 2 which was the same one Herbert played through. I don’t doubt he hurt his ribs however don’t think he needed nor wanted to miss 4 full games, that was Flores wanting to play his guy but was forced to turn back to Tua after we went 0-4. Take out those first two year injuries and really only concussions in year 3 which was arguably our staffs fault for misdiagnosis. Either way concussions are a fluke injury and after a year of his brain healing no longer a concern.

They don’t have the same concerns that you made up and are fully committed to him as you’ll see when he signs a massive deal this summer.

Best case scenario for the team which is why I support this timeline. Eh but unfortunately it seems like the writing is on the wall and Tua will get this extension. Just hope it's for a bargain because there's not a chance I'd pay him up there with the other top qbs. He's been blessed and benefited with coaching and weapons these past two seasons with McD. Would be wise for him to take what Grier offers and consider himself blessed. Until he proves that he can find success against top defenses aka playoff caliber teams.

Personally I would also need to see him show he's competent at reading defenses. This is the mental part of his game or lack of that concerns me.. He's benefited from spot throwing, which his excellent anticipatory throws were on display, and luckily it's worked for him... not so much towards the end of season as defenses tightened the space on these predictable windows. So the question I would have, is how much longer can the team sustain success with this scheme? McDaniel must get creative and devise something clever but still there will be a point where defenses catch on.

Solution is for Tua to excel beyond his first read and that would require him to be competent at reading the field in real time. I'm not confident with his ability to do this... we'll see if he improves, which I believe it's always possible.. players can continually improve there mental processing each season if they're determined to. Maybe Tua and coaches have brought this to light and he's actively working on this. We shall see...

I do find it fascinating how some folks here claim Tua is exceptional at processing the field, by making quick throws and such. Even one poster claimed how his intelligence on the field is one of his strengths! Wow, I'm still taken back by that comment. His quick reaction time doesn't show a high level of mental prowess to me... actually it makes it evident that he's playing automatic and not putting much thought into the play at all!
He's immediately firing based on what he sees pre-snap. Thankfully he's got the best Wr's to accomodate this style of play. They have the speed to create the immediate space.
You will be a mess when Tua signs his new deal.

Tua's had 4-years as a Dolphin , including a loaded roster last season, and was not able to lead the team to any playoff victories. If he plays the 2024 season on the 5th year option of his rookie contract I expect there is at least a 50-50 chance his performance is mediocre and the team will try a different QB for 2025.

"including a loaded roster"

Why is it that haters like you intentionally ignore that the team was ravaged by injuries at the end of last year, especially the OL?

Oh wait, we know why.
So you signed up yesterday to bash Tua and remind us he's under contract?

Thank you for the insight.
cray cray bro.. he’s all over other forums spewing the same..

Curious why you would you assume I will be a mess when this happens?

There's an epidemic of emotional reactivity these days. I've done enough inner work and wouldn't compromise my peace for something I have no control over. I would simply find it fascinating and observe how this plays out. Believe it or not, I genuinely wish Tua and the team the very best and hopefully I'm wrong with my perception. My younger self, who was quite emotionally invested in this team may have been inflamed with the outcome. That version of me has been dead for over a decade. Detachment serves me well now. 😌🙏

I find tolerance is a beautiful thing and what a beautiful place to practice it here! We can disagree and do so respectfully. I understand we're all behind keyboards here but I never lose sight that there's another soul behind the screen too. All love and respect but expressing our authentic truth is just as valuable.

Ricky Williams Is that you?

My best guess is that Mr. Ross and Grier already made their 'offer', and it happened a year ago when the team exercised their 5th year option for Tua's services for the 2024 season. I have no reason to believe the Dolphins management is satisfied with the team's past two years of performance by Tua and, or Coach McDaniel.
