All of the arguments that are being made for the extension now
Talk of making the first 2 years cap friendly.

Can all be made a year from now.

Tua can play out this season under the 5th year option and they can sign him to a new contract after this season is over. (Or Not)

We still have options.

If this was the start of the offseason and we still had the chance to land another top offensive lineman... I would consider the argument to give Tua a new contract.

But now?

Make him play out and earn his next contract.

I would not give Hill another cent either.

Make him play out his current contract.

If he can still play at an elite level 2 years from now... Give him a new contract then.

Not a single penny more
Play out your contract.

Period

Nah……the Fins want to extend Tua and the negotiations back and forth are just part of the process.

A deal will get done before the season starts

Think he's already earned that next contract.

I agree that there is no need to do anything with Tyreek currently, however next year, it might be worth a discussion for some minor incentive based tweaks.

I have to believe the plan is to move on from him after 2025

He has no guaranteed $ next year. No player wants that situation.

I think it makes sense to adjust that so he has future guaranteed money.

Good point. Today's NFL is smarter and a business. But I sure do miss the old days when teams were tribal as f and no way in hell was a Steeler ever going to play on the cowboys. Maybe a quarter billion dollar contract changes loyalties somewhat.

Loved watching Tua play, been a long drought with a ton of mediocre talented qbs that seem like backups at best (including Feidler).

Totally irrational and not the wisest route, but damn do I wish they would just pay the kid money and respect now. We are pot committed and let's play it out and go all in.

Make him prove it seems kind of harsh after the crap he endured since drafted and how he performed.

Does anyone know off the top of their head at what age WR’s generally begin to decline? And who would be a good comparison for Hill once he loses a step?

Darrell Green, when he lost a step he was still faster than 99% of the league.
And he played into his 40’s if I recall. I think he’s one of those guys who played in 3 different decades? Any WR examples you can think of?

Is that super hard?
Example join the league in 1999, play till 2011.
He was drafted in 83 the pick after Dan Marino. So for a CB to play 20 years in 3 different decades is unheard of.
I should have been more clear. I was referring to what @Gsmack_42 said. I forget that I’m getting old and not everyone on the forum grew up watching the same players.

The only wr I can think of is Rice and I love Hill but he will have to be playing at I high level at 35 before i start thinking about Rice level.
