want the scoop heading into camp...barry jacksons got it

I agree that this is both Wallace and Moore's last shot, however it is hard to blame them completely given that Sparano was absolutely horrible at getting guys playing time, he admitted it with Patrick Turner that he should have gotten him more playing time to see what he could do, in blowouts either way where the game was not close, he refused to put Moore or Wallace on the field in the stubborn Parcell's way of doing everything,

even Gates last year, no matter how raw Gates may have been, how do you not just get him on the field 1 time in the first half and 1 time in the second half and say "hey Clyde, run straight down the field and we will throw the ball up" who knows maybe he wouldnt be as "raw" or behind as the reports the media are giving, Sparano had his guys like Patrick Cobbs- safe, boring, conservative Parcells's players he refused to give younger players a chance for

Garrad is no fool. If he says that Wallace is going a be a good reciever in this league, Im going to be excited about it. The kid just never saw the field behind BM.
...and Hartline, Bess, and Gates. Luckily for him, BM is no longer on the team, so it's time to put up or shut up when it actually counts.

We need to see these players(like Wallace and Gates) get fed the ball in preseason. The only way the will get the confidence they need is to make the plays in the games. They need to be allowed to take the next step. One or two big plays will lead to big games and give them a real boost knowing that they can do it. Garrard and Moore will help them by putting the ball in locations where they can make the plays.

I am real excited about seeing what Vernon can do opposite Wake, especially with O'Drick and Starks in there on passing downs.

Llamar Miller and Clay should be exciting to watch. The defense has to respect their speed.

When you start to look at all the combinations of players and formations...we should be a very explosive and high scoring team.
Oh..add Reggie adding 5 yards a pop..

I can't wait for preseason!

The one silver lining is that Wallace missed ten games last year after being put on IR, so he really didn't have much of a 2011 season. Still though, this is now his third training camp with the Dolphins, finally time for him to show up or move on.

Of all the local columnist Jackson's weekly rundown is the best. Short simple facts and opinions that answers questions we all have. Thanks for posting Hoops.

Agreed. The Herald should eliminate Greg Cote's worthless weekly attempt at forced humor atop page three on Sunday and allow Barry Jackson to fill the page.

Actually, give Cote a paragraph or two in a little box. That's plenty of room for the weak punch lines and double entendres. We don't need any context. The criminal aspect is how long it takes him to get there.

jeesh...i thought this thread would get more play...

there's definitely some encouraging news no doubt about it...if reshad jones is taking much better angles to the ball that's big time...we might have us something there...i don't need to wait til the pads come on with reshad cause i already know he's got high end ball skills and instincts and is a pretty sure tackler and a physical force...you feel it when reshad jones hits you...the angles to the ball and being overly aggressive especially when he was the last line of defense needed shoring up...we could have us something there...a playmaking safety...imo if the angles are better reshad leads the team in ints in 2012...

encouraging news also with jimmy wilson.... a little undersized at safety but another guy with good ball skills and instincts and a willing tackler...i don't need pads to know that...if he's on the field as a 3rd safety in some packages imo that just adds another playmaker to the field...sounds like the transition to safety is going pretty smoothly...

if we can salvage koa misi at lb that's more good news...at lb he should be stout at the poa and with his strength in his hands be able to shed to the ball...definitely gonna require more man coverage i'd say out of him but coverage was a strength of his coming out of the draft...

olivier vernon looking the part so far more encouraging news...some cam wake qualities there...not as explosive imo but there's definitely some similarities...once the pads come on i expect his brute strength and strength in his hands to really show up...he can collapse the pocket and move people...good thing he is showing well also cause i don't see another potential pass rush specialist that can make an impact on the roster...

if charles clay can keep up the momentum in pads that would be huge for this offense...especially with this wr core...we're gonna need it...

odrick at end is big time also...knew he'd be stout against the run there given he's moving from a 34 de but ideally i think we shift him inside in the nickle where we can take advantage of his initial quickness and short area lateral agility and hand strength to wreak havoc on the qb...i hope they asked him to drop some lbs to help with his conditioning cause i expect big snaps for odrick this year...shift odrick inside and get vernon on the field as the nickle rusher initially...we're gonna need to give wake a blow more often also and vernon might be able to take a few snaps off his plate on 1st and 2nd down...

I'm rooting for a lot of these young guys, especially Charles Clay and Roberto Wallace.

“I would have taken him before [2011 first-rounders] Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder,” CBS’ Phil Simms told us. “He made more NFL throws than any quarterback I saw in this year’s draft. Very good pocket presence.”
interesting.

Obviously andy dalton should've been the second Qb taken last year (at this point) but saying tannehill should've been taken over those guys, (would've made him the second QB taken last year if we are to assume the first round QBs are the only options) I have to wonder if phil simms is making that judgement based on hindsight.

I think Wallace makes the final roster. IMO, we could use at least one receiver with size for jump balls in the endzone and such.

odrick at end is big time also...knew he'd be stout against the run there given he's moving from a 34 de but ideally i think we shift him inside in the nickle where we can take advantage of his initial quickness and short area lateral agility and hand strength to wreak havoc on the qb...i hope they asked him to drop some lbs to help with his conditioning cause i expect big snaps for odrick this year...shift odrick inside and get vernon on the field as the nickle rusher initially...we're gonna need to give wake a blow more often also and vernon might be able to take a few snaps off his plate on 1st and 2nd down...

i think Odrick starts opposite Wake and then takes Big Paul's spot on 3rd down with Vernon taking his. Vernon can also spell Wake on early downs and might even be better than Cam on run defense. With Misi coming around this could be a top 5 front seven.

Jones seems to have finally realized what we all saw already. Bad angles in pursuit. i like his aggressive nature but not at the expense of a big play.

If this continues into games then the Dolphins have a great shot to contend. I mean were talking about three of our four biggest question marks looking like they might be ok. Roberto Wallace perhaps shoring up the wr position, Olivier Vernon and Jason Odrick providing the pass rush opposite Cam Wake, Reshad Jones becoming at least a solid safety and maybe a game changer and Charles Clay emerging as a mismatch in the passing game. Maybe the Dolphins could still sign Jake Scott if they are unconvinced that any number of young players can step up at guard.

he has made plays in some preseason games and has showen flashes but honestly the guy will probably never be more then what he is now. Look the past 2-3 years he has been here we havent had that good of a WR corp. If he couldnt beat out Hartline who is a medicore #2 WR or our #4 or 5 WR on a team with again a blah WR corp he aight going to be much more then a practise squad guy or a #5 WR that might get 8-10 catches a year and thats it.

If Jones can the the leap I expect him too then he will be a PROBowler. He has the physical tools, so him getting the mental part down WILL be huge.

Also on Clay, your right, if he keeps up the great play, he will be IMO the leading pass catcher on this team. He has elite receiving skills at the TE position.
