want the scoop heading into camp...barry jacksons got it

gates did see the field though, during the first jets game. there were a lot of throws from matt moore to him, granted revis was actually on him like 3 times, and each time he dropped. i remember that game pretty vividly

The one silver lining is that Wallace missed ten games last year after being put on IR, so he really didn't have much of a 2011 season. Still though, this is now his third training camp with the Dolphins, finally time for him to show up or move on.
Yea you can look at it that way my concern is maybe he is a bit injury prone. Has he not been on IR 2 out of the 3 years he has been with the phins thats a lot for a guy who is not even a starter. Injured players even if they are talented cannot get the job done. Hartline falls in that same catagory. Staying healthy is as important or more than being talented.

if reshad jones is taking much better angles to the ball that's big time...we might have us something there...i don't need to wait til the pads come on with reshad cause i already know he's got high end ball skills and instincts and is a pretty sure tackler and a physical force...you feel it when reshad jones hits you...the angles to the ball and being overly aggressive especially when he was the last line of defense needed shoring up...we could have us something there...a playmaking safety...imo if the angles are better reshad leads the team in ints in 2012...

I'm in 1000% agreement with you here. I've always loved Jones' ability to use his instincts when he's gotten the chance, but as you've stated, his angles have been terrible. He's not as athletic as Chris Clemons, but Clemons simply doesn't have "it", IMO. The "it" being instincts, of course.

Tempering the good feelings about Jones though, if you read Barry's 7/12 article about Jason Taylor going to ESPN:

Taylor challenged Reshad Jones, a likely starter at safety. “You can’t play, ‘I’m the young card’ forever,” Taylor said. “You’re a pro. Now it’s time to eliminate mistakes and be a leader.”That includes things like “paying attention in meetings,” he said.

That makes him sound lazy, unintelligent, AND reluctant to take responsibility/ownership. Not great attributes for the QB of the secondary.

jeesh...i thought this thread would get more play...

there's definitely some encouraging news no doubt about it...if reshad jones is taking much better angles to the ball that's big time...we might have us something there...i don't need to wait til the pads come on with reshad cause i already know he's got high end ball skills and instincts and is a pretty sure tackler and a physical force...you feel it when reshad jones hits you...the angles to the ball and being overly aggressive especially when he was the last line of defense needed shoring up...we could have us something there...a playmaking safety...imo if the angles are better reshad leads the team in ints in 2012...

encouraging news also with jimmy wilson.... a little undersized at safety but another guy with good ball skills and instincts and a willing tackler...i don't need pads to know that...if he's on the field as a 3rd safety in some packages imo that just adds another playmaker to the field...sounds like the transition to safety is going pretty smoothly...

if we can salvage koa misi at lb that's more good news...at lb he should be stout at the poa and with his strength in his hands be able to shed to the ball...definitely gonna require more man coverage i'd say out of him but coverage was a strength of his coming out of the draft...

olivier vernon looking the part so far more encouraging news...some cam wake qualities there...not as explosive imo but there's definitely some similarities...once the pads come on i expect his brute strength and strength in his hands to really show up...he can collapse the pocket and move people...good thing he is showing well also cause i don't see another potential pass rush specialist that can make an impact on the roster...

if charles clay can keep up the momentum in pads that would be huge for this offense...especially with this wr core...we're gonna need it...

odrick at end is big time also...knew he'd be stout against the run there given he's moving from a 34 de but ideally i think we shift him inside in the nickle where we can take advantage of his initial quickness and short area lateral agility and hand strength to wreak havoc on the qb...i hope they asked him to drop some lbs to help with his conditioning cause i expect big snaps for odrick this year...shift odrick inside and get vernon on the field as the nickle rusher initially...we're gonna need to give wake a blow more often also and vernon might be able to take a few snaps off his plate on 1st and 2nd down...

Still having trouble seeing Koa Misi at LB in the 4-3. I think they have him playing the Will but I'm going to have to see it to believe it.

Vernon, having seen him play almost every one of his games at Miami, is a much better run defender than you give him credit for. He plays with good leverage and he's strong as heck at the POA, he got a lot of QB pressures but not enough sacks and part of the reason was that the Canes have had piss poor DBs for the last 4 or 5 seasons (this last recruiting class should solve that problem for a while). It's hard to get sacks when the QB is finding guys running wide open. I've always thought of Vernon as being better against the run anyway. I can see him giving Wake a blow on 1st and 2nd down...would make Wake even more leathal on those passing downs coming in fresh. Vernon has been playing RDE exclusively for the Canes but I think that plays to Wake's strength anyway cause Wake rushes from the strong side probably more than 50% of the time...and he's very effective from that side.

Charles Clay reminds me of Randy McMichael (without the mouth). Good speed, lots of potential, big play ability...lots of drops and that's the problem.

charles clay does not drop the ball much. sorry

Drops...WTF.

Charles Clay hasn't dropped a pass as a Dolphin during games that I can remember, where the **** are you getting that he drops the ball ALLLL the time?

Charles Clay had a few drops in practice this offseason, so I assume that is where the "drops all the time" comment came from. But, in the games last year Clay made a lot of amazing catches, and I cant remember ever throwing my hands up and yelling f*** because he dropped one.

The best way I judge talent is to watch them play in live games during pre-season when the pressure is on. When they are practicing in Shorts and Pads against each other it does not mean as much as when they are put in a game situation against another team. Also why don't the Fins practice in Helmets and football pants like the Bills and other teams do. Seems to me there is less intensity when you are in those long orange or aqua skirts and helmets.

He only had 16 catches last year. I remember 2-3 great catches and runs afterward. I'm with you though, I'm not sure where he got this silly stigma

there were reports in otas and mini camp that clay was making plays and also dropping balls...i'm sure that's where the drops stuff is coming from...guys got really soft hands though so i'm not too worried about drops with him...
