Phintim I agree. It's not just about McCoy being a better HC. It's also about the roster overhaul and the inevitable 'starting again' or 'building a roster' etc. If you look at that roster, it is far better than SD man for man right now bar Rivers. But when you consider many were down on Rivers before McCoy took over and that roster does not include one FA signing or draft pick from that year, you have to realise that it was a massive miss.

Pretty black and white around here McCoy was stated that Ireland had indicated he had the job then Ross decided and stated in the media he wanted Philbin afterwards undermining Ireland

Clueless well you must be new to this site or never read the postings or any other media related event the past year regarding the phins as I hold up Hickey as exhibit A. Hickey the about to be fired from the loosing Bucs as our last choice whom was the first to accept the offer as GM as all other canidates declined the offer. Regardless of the job he has done so far he was not a coveted hire.

There are also other reports out there that say Hickey hit it out of the park with this interview. Also, we never offered the GM job to anyone other than Hickey. So we'll basically never know if Hickey was a coveted hire or not.

I think the wording of this thread is misleading. The question shouldn't be comparing Brees to McCoy, it should be comparing Failbin to McCoy. It would be a better conversation and one that would be easier to discuss. The discussion would go like this. Ross is an idiot for choosing Failbin over McCoy. Ireland couldn't draft any better than a rock, but he was right in his choice for HC.
