We need to extend Ireland before it's too late!

Yes, it is, all the players hes picked. Like the 2008 draft, 2009 draft, 2010 draft, 2011 draft, and all his free agents, such as Justin Smiley, Jake Grove, Gibril Wilson, David Garrard, Chad Ochocinco, and trades like Brandon Marshall.

So your saying there is no one available that could do as good a job, if not better, then Jeff Ireland?

I'll play your game though, how about:

Scot McCoughlan- the former general manager for the 49’ers. He was let go by the 49’ers for “personal reasons” but has been in the running for other general manager jobs since. He is currently working in Seattle’s front office(which has done exceptionally well recently). With the exception of 2 offensive lineman and Aldon Smith, McCoughlan built the majority of the 49’ers team that is enjoying so much recent success.

Also intrigued by Russ Ball of the Packers, though im less hot on him recently.

Now, you have 2 guys im interested in. But guess what, it doesnt matter if those guys bust or do well. If im wrong, people write nasty things on an internet forum. But if Ireland is wrong in his profession, this franchise suffers. Yet your defending Ireland. Fantastic priorities.

No it's not a game for me. Just prior to becoming a serious dolphins fan the front office that really built the Dolphins into a Super Bowl winner in the 70 s left town and joined the skins who became Super Bowl winners. So yes to win it all you need a superior GM along with a supior head coach. What I am less patient about is just changing for changing sake. Dolphin fans ran Shula out of town because they'd wanted better results and basically it has been much worse since. So if your just wanting to ouster Ireland then I believe need to put out there who his replacement will be along with GM's body of work to compare to Irelands. By the way did you like any then picks in this years draft and last years draft?

wv never lets things like facts get in the way of an arguement

Facts, like anything else can be spun in any different direction you wish.

I've long held that Ireland had to be out on his own in order to really see what he
was about, and this year is sort of the crux of it. If, after this year we still stink
(I think that's, sadly how it will be) then, it's time for him to go. He's not going to
be fired though. I garuntee it. He's got at least two more years, if not longer.
Ross isn't going to fire that guy.

well when you know something is a lie and u push it as a fact thats not spinning a fact thats just making crap up. some more gullible people believe what they want to believe

How about we have a team finish above .500 before we go extending anyone in this FO? Results are what matters here and so far the results aren't good from what Jeff Ireland has put on the field.

come on now this owner loves giving extensions to those that dont deserve it. sparano is a rich man due to this. i agree though shouldnt we do something successful on field before we extend our gm

Nothing Ireland has done in his entire NFL career warrants a extension right now. He had one hell of a offseason, but 7-9 and he can get lost as far as I'm concerned. One good offseason doesn't make up for the last four mediocre years.

Again though, that's not a conclusion we can come to until we see how it plays out. Otherwise, we're just subscribing to the same "offseason champions" mentality that the Redskins used to have every year.

How about change because we keep losing. How about change because this is the worst stretch in Dolphins history. How about change because we cant fix our offensive line, despite a serious investment in that unit. Those dont count?

Its not my job to interview and compare all the available potential general managers. Pay me, and i'll happily jump on that(but hey, i threw up some names anyways). All i see is this general manager isnt working. He hasnt worked. His tenure with this franchise is an utter embarrassment and other teams have proven they can turn their franchises around immediately when they hire the right people. Meanwhile, a Presidency later, we still are losing. And some fans want to continue that.

Ross made an great hire in Philbin. I have faith he could find us a competent general manager.
