Bears | McQuarters on the way Out? - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 10 May 2005 05:53:23 -0700

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/148">Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears continue to look for ways to trade CB R.W. McQuarters. One league source said the asking price is so low, it's a foregone conclusion McQuarters will not be with the team when training camp opens in 10 weeks. One coach said Monday, May 9 the Bears are seeking only a seventh-round pick in exchange for McQuarters. The coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said McQuarters will most likely be released if a trade can't be worked out.

hes a little old, (8 years in the NFL), but you could sign him to a 2 year deal.

hes only 28 not bad, but hes already signed to a contract if we trade for him we wouldn't have to sign him to anything, wonder what his contract situaiton is right now?

I really don't see Saban trading picks. Also, I feel with TBuck and other vet corners still available for minimum salaries, we'll probably sign one for depth. But, I don't think we'll be signing one to start. That's probably Howard's job to lose now.

Even if Poole does come back this year, he won't be back to full speed until next year. No matter how many miracles modern medicine can perform on paper, the human body still heals at it's own pace. Given the need for relative speed at CB, I don't think Poole at 90% is worth risking further injury.

He'll get a mulligan for this year.

I would definitely look at McQuarters- after he is released. his price tag will be potentialy cheapr than law's and he returns kicks as well. Why has he fallen out of favor in chi town. never mind I look it up myself...

a 7th rounder. or he might even be cut. but then he would go to the highest bidder.

If I were in control, I'd trade for McQuarters in a heartbeat. He's fast, versatile, and a pretty good cornerback. A 7th round pick is a steal for a guy that can still produce for a few years.

Then I'm hoping a trade can't be worked out. He'd be a great pickup in FA since he's definitely got more mileage left than Buckley or Law.

people dont forget if we trade with him we take on whatever his contract status is... anyone know what it is? im sure its high if chicago is trying to get rid of him for just a 7th rounder...

Saban is not Wanny. We no longer play the bidding game at the drop of a hat. And, we now value ALL draft picks.

Your right about Saban valueing his picks more than wanny, however getting a veteran like mcquarters who in my opinion is very talented for such a cheap price has to atleast get looken into. I don't know the logistics of Mcquarters salary situation and potentialy getting released however i know that Mcquarters talent alone justifies using a 7th round pick.
