I didn't vote for this poll cause I don't agree on trading him. Why would you start a poll to trade away the heart of your defense?

also, he leads the league in tackles at this point in the season, why get rid of that, youd have to be out of you mind

JJ completely rebuilt the team in '96. With the exception of Marino, a HOFer who doesn't fall into the same category as ZT, JT, and Madison, JJ dumped or didn't resign all of our 30+ year old vets. We went 8-8 that year (we were 9-7 the year before), and then steadily improved afterwards.

We need to get younger and hungrier.

As a Fin Fan I disagree. And based on you logic about Montana, then we should have traded Marino In 97.

As silly as it sounds Id rather not win a SB with Marino, or Zach than I would win one with some mercenary free agent. Zach has played his *** off for the team and the fans ( you and me) since day one. If hes still productive and is being payed in accordance with his production ( and he is) then he should should stay.

Thats the problem with the NFL now. No loyalty from the team, the players, and it looks like the fans. They all wanna cash in on that championship. These are the same people who ran Don Shula out of town so we could get JJ. JJ was younger and hungrier wasnt he? That sure went over well. Shula is a Dolphin for life, JJ is now a sportscaster who used to coach the cowboys.

When Zach gets beat out of his job at camp, then he can step down. I get that. But to just trade him on a pick that may end up a bust, no way. People like Zach are the reason I love this team and his career has earned him the respect from the team to let him stay here.

New England will give you Duane Starks for him

Sam Madison is getting old after all... :D

I love Zach, but he doesn't fit the bigger type of LBs Saban prefers. If he has trade value its slipping quickly, so unless the organization is commited to him retiring a Phin(hopefully), a move will be sooner rather than later.

he doesnt fit? he is leading the league in tackles!

I've already made it clear why I created these polls.

Because a 32 year old MLB's days are greatly numbered, and we're two or three more offseasons away from making a real run for the Super Bowl. I want to see what people think he's worth in a trade (Along with Taylor, Madison and Williams), and a poll is the best way to find out.

I'm not forcing anybody to participate in these polls, so don't complain about them. I hope nobody will question my loyalty to our team either. I've been a die-hard fan of the Dolphins for a decade and a half. I'm loyal to the team and want what's best for the team IN THE LONG RUN, not what's best for certain players from a failed chapter in Miami Dolphins history.

The 49ers improved their team by trading Joe Montana. The Chargers improved their team by trading Junior Seau. Those two are HOFers who brought their original teams to championship games. In Montana's case, he led his team to four Lombardis. So don't say ZT, JT and Madison are untouchable. We haven't even won a division with them in half a decade, and how many playoff games have we won with them? Not many. Let's not forget that their days are numbered, and we're two or three more offseasons away from being real contenders for the Super Bowl. By the time we're ready to make a real run for the Lombardi, ZT, JT, and Madison will either be in the twilight of their careers or retired.

I think it may be time for us to end the JJ-era and build a hungrier, and much younger, squad.
Just a question. If, Marino was still playing, say in his mid 30's, would there be a Marino poll also.

a first rounder . he's the best linebacker right now, and he is having his best season so far.

Marino is the greatest player in the franchise's history. Heck, he's arguably the greatest QB of all-time (I certainly feel that way).

I don't think ZT, JT, and Madison fall into the same category as Marino. We never lost 18 of 25 games, as we have with ZT, JT and Madison, over a two year period on Marino's watch. As good as ZT, JT and Madison have been, none of them will be inducted into the HOF, let alone be inducted on the first ballot like Marino was. None of them will go down in history as one of the greatest players ever at their position like Marino has. Furthermore, let's not forget that ZT, JT and Madison haven't led us to a division title in almost half a decade, and they haven't led us to a single AFC championship game, let alone a Super Bowl, in their entire tenure with the team. Heck, when's the last time one of them made a gamebreaking play in a must-win game?

Zach Thomas is no Dan Marino. Neither is Jason Taylor or Sam Madison.

First off, I dont agree with trading ZT
Second, I find it funny that people here wont give a first for a young QB but want a first for a 30 something, aging linebacker. Of course Zach is still great, but only a few more years. Who would trade a 1st for him?

They have been the face of our franchise for the last 9 years. IN an earlier post you said that the 49ers were better off after they traded Montana. By that logic Marino should have been traded sometime in the mid 90s. If Montana is tradable then Marino was too. (using your logic)

Your not going to get a better player at Zachs or JTs position by trading them. YOur not going to get a rookie to come in and bring what they can bring. SO why would you trade them?

IM not bashing you here ( I think its a stupid idea you have) but I see no logic in trading two guys when your not going to get fair value for them. As bad as things are going I cringe in how bad they would be without these two guys playing for us.
