Where were you at when Ricky Williams retired??? What were you doing when you first heard the news and how did you react???

I was woken up to back to back phone calls but didnt answer. Checked my voice mail..."RICKY WILLIAMS RETIRED HAHA DOLPHINS SUCK" (my friends are all bucs fans) I laughed and said YEAH RIGHT...Went back to sleep...hour later turned on ESPN and there it was. I had just bought tickets to the St.Louis game the day before. That sucked.
 
I was right here at FinHeaven. Thought it was false until a lot of threads started poping up so I ran to the TV, turned on ESPNNews and there in the bottom right corner was "R. Williams to Retire". Tell you the truth, I felt like I almost passed out. I couldn't believe my eyes and even thought I was dreaming. I didn't get much sleep that night.
 
I came hom from a hard days work and i clciked on the nest my webpage is espnnews.com and i saw on the right hand top Breaking News Williams to retire i didn believe it so i went on other sites and i saw it and i was shocked and sad
 
I had just woke up at like 12:50 bc i had been rafting all day. I got on Phinz Mania at like 12:55 and i turned on Sportscenter at 1 and it said "Ricky Williams to Retire?" or something like that, so i started typing away at Phinz Mania.
 
I have no idea where I was. I didn't even hear about it till a couple days later when I got back from vacation. I think I was walking through the metal detector exit when I first heard though.
 
I was at my gf's apartment, getting drunk, as her and her friends were smoking. One of my good friends, who is also a hardcore fins fan called my cell and left a message. I got it and didnt believe him, so i signed on to finheaven, and it was merged like 10X's already. and I was on finheaven all night, depressed/pissed!:fire:
 
I had just gotten home from the bar and i was hammered and i thought it was a joke or something since i was so drunk and i woke up the next morning and turned on espn and it was all over the place and i was having a cookout for my brother's birthday that day and i was so pissed i almost called it off
 
woke up 8 am, found out the news, punched my bedroom door and put a crack in it. repainted the door 3 hours later so u couldnt see the crack.
 
was about 4 am. i opened up internet explorer and saw "dolphins star RB retires" I said Travis Minor? Still a star, he isnt in highschool anymore. Then about one second later it hit me.
 
Amazing just a few days ago i thought of posting a thread with this same question...Well I guess we got all the bases with ricky covered now...Anyways I was a morning and the phone rang and I was still in bed so I answered..It was my boy Ron and he says "you aint heard yet?"I was like "heard what?"You can never tell if hes joking or serious..So he says "your boy ricky williams retired"...I was like "ok yeah right".He says "Im serious dogg" turn on the T.V....T.V was already on Espn and there was Ricky in highlights running and they were saying he retired.I just went numb...And hes on the other end laughing....Denver Dongcos fan..Never ever forget that...Was the craziest thing I ever heard.

Sitting in front of the T.V. with my jaw on the floor. I could not believe it when I heard it. In the beginning I was on Ricky's side, even though I felt he screwed his teammates. After all, it was his life to live and if what he FIRST said was true, then let him retire off into the sunset.

HOWEVER, then came a change in his story, then a different reason for quiting, and on and on. It was at that point I lost respect for Ricky.

Now that he want's to come back, (if he can follow thru with it), ALL the pressure in the world is on him. I hope he can pull it off and make the Dolphins better. And more importantly, make himself better, but not at the expense of this teammates and fans again.

Time will Tell.

I dont usually post on the board, but i read pretty much daily. Anyways i have a pretty interesting story. The night Ricky retired I was at Pearl on South Beach. It was my boy's girlfriends last night in Miami, so we went out. I get a call on my way in that Ricky retired, but i think its bull****....

Anyways, i get in the club and there is Jason Taylor, Tony Gonzalez, Jamal Anderson. Then I see Taylor head down the stairs and outside, seemingly left early. He came back a little later and was partying with Gonzo, and then we left and drove up to Seminole Hard Rock Casino to play. When i got there i looked at the TV over the bar in the Casino, and RIcky's stats are over there. I head over, read the closed captions, and realized he was retired. WHat a night that was.....
 
I work for fins IT, I had a briefing meeting with Spielman on the same day he announced retirement. So later on at night, im Driving back from Clubbin' down here in Miami, when I tuned in to Party 93.1. For those of you who know em, Buster was saying "Have a good night, and for You fins fans, be ready for the news your going to here tomorrow!" Get home, open Sportsline, and there it was.... The rest is history.
 
in orlando playing a tennis tournament. I thought it was the other ricky williams. so sad when i found out
