Fisher (or ANY coach for that matter) would have met the same fate as JJ/Wanny/Saban/Cam/Sparano if he failed to find a franchise QB.
Do any of you really think that the likes of Mike Mcarthy, Mike Tomlin, & Mike Smith would be getting ANY run if they had been saddled with the likes of Fiedler, Ferotte, Feeley, and Chad Henne? LOL

HC matters for sure, but you could have Vince Lombardi himself come walking through that door and he too would be run out of town within 3 - 4 years if he had no QB; especially in today's pass heavy game.

At some point we will finally get a clue and go "all in" on a QB.... when that day comes and we hit, all of a sudden our coaching staff will look like "geniuses".

I agree with you in part. A good QB will help the coach get to the playoffs, an elite QB will get you titles.
However, I believe that the 10% is way off. You can have Tom Brady or Peyton Manning in his prime, but if the coach handcuffs him to a certain offense or certain plays, you will never see their full potential.

Yeah thank god they shop the bargain bin for QBs, and commit the majority of draft picks and FA signings to cornfed linemen! Oh yeah thats philosophy is racking upto the Championships!

Op I agree we need a franchise qb but a great HC is more then 10% of the pie.

I feel there are elite Qbs that make their coaches look good and elite coaches that get the most out of their quarterbacks. Maybe this is our lucky year and we'll find one of the two. Or Both :o

Honestly... Would they have done a much worse job if they did? Like I'm not suggesting that the FO use this board as a suggestion box but they haven't exactly torn the leather off the ball as far as personnel moves go in the past 15 years. Seriously...

As much as everyone gets excited about coaches, I would say coaches probably only win or lose a couple games each year. The bottom line is you have to have a franchise QB, and well rounded team to win, and a coach is not going to make much of difference. Do any of you remember George Seifert??? At one time I believe he had the greatest coaching record of any coach in NFL history. He was the coach of the 49ers during a good deal of their glory years (his record with the Niners was 98 wins and 30 losses).....then Seifert decided to coach the Carolina Panthers and after a 1-15 season in 2001 he was fired, and he now has been largely forgotten. Had he decided not to coach the Panthers, he probably would be in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Bottom line here... If we stop taking LT's and 3-4 De's in the 1st round for a minute and actually take a QB we MIGHT have a shot vs. having ZERO shot with our current philosophy.

Ireland said the deepest position group in the draft is the defensive line, and the Dolphins won't just ignore their defense in the draft, even with last year's No. 6 overall ranking. "You don't ignore the defense, you have to build that strength and get better where you can," he said.

Thanks alot Jeff. Brilliant idea. You're deep on the defensive line, the draft was deep with defensive lineman, yet you couldn't wait until a later round to take a defensive lineman even though you had Dez Bryant staring you in the face@ #12. I suppose it was more important to find out if his mom is a ho...you jackass.

No, doesn't make sense. We don't need to upgrade our WR corps in a passing league. Let's just trade down and draft another corn fed lineman because that's so much more important. It was so important to get that 2nd round pick back right?

For the record, I agree with the logic of building on your strengths, especially at defensive line. A good rotation is essential but when you have a chance at a game changing WR, you take him.

Our QB is 12th in Quarterback rating. Flacco and Smith are 2 of the worst red zone qbs and they led their teams to first round byes. We just need better coaching and better line play to make the playoffs. We do not need to trade away all our first round picks and be stuck like we were with wanny and never have a pick in the first round. Why would we give up our first pick next year to have a rookie QB this year who would lead us to a 3-13 record giving the Rams another top 5 pick next year?????

Matt Moore is a serviceable back up lacking arm strength that limits his game nothing more.
