Why cant we sell out?

Ok so $40 per ticket (for the worst seats in the house) X 2 = $80 now add in the $10 parking = $90 now a "bucket of chicken" (which they wont allow you to bring in) = atleast $100. Not to mention you will also want something to drink while sitting there in blazing sun. As you can see it gets awful expensive very quick, alot more then the $40 you'd like us believe.

And Im sorry to see the only way to be a loyal fan in your eyes is to attend the games. I can assure you I follow this team alot closer then a great amount of the season ticket holders.

If you take a measly 10 bucks a week, and set it aside, that adds up to 520 bucks. Plenty more than enough to get season tickets in the upper deck, and a parking pass, with plenty of money left over to buy some water. Eat before the game if you have to. If you have to bring a spouse, and your spouse works, then you set aside 20. If your spouse does not work, then your making a pretty good salary. Die Hard fans should find a way, no matter what. And for those unfortunate people. I guess because I'm fortunate, I'm supposed to take up their slack? Well, that's fine but they might need to get a radio because the only way to make those who can afford to go, go, is to not let them see the games. They will get tired of listening on the radio after a while.

If I had my way, I would not let the TV stations buy the tickets up. I would let the games be blacked out. Let the couch potatoes sit on their couches and enjoy the radio broadcasts. It may be harsh, but it will help build the fan base at the stadium.

Im sorry but I can't see spending my grocery money for nosebleed seats in the blistering sun. Makes alot more sense to me to spend the money where its needed and enjoy the game at home on the television for free. To say I dont deserve to be or am not a fan because I can't afford to attend the game is a bunch of non-sense.

I bet if you asked anyone on the team if they'd rather I spent my $100 to attend a game or buy groceries for the week they'd understand my prioritys. I'm sorry all you rich people do not.

Here's another solution....

Even if you don't live within driving distance, buy a ticket. Help the cause even if your not going to be there. Don't sit there and do nothing....

You don't have to go to the games in order for a blackout to be lifted, you just need to buy a ticket. How many of these fans who complain actually do that?? I doubt very many. They're so use to some big company buying up the remaining thousand tickets, they don't take it seriosuly until it's too late.....

Boo ******* Hoo...

I'm sorry but under my scenario you would need a radio for a couple of years. If your poor, like you say, then it makes me just a little sad, but see I could care less if you cant watch the games. I want you to feed your family for sure.

My thoughts are solely for filling the stadium, and if you have to suffer so be it. If you think I suck because of my opinion I'm sorry, but I'm offering my opinion anyway.

I'm by no means a rich man. I'm middle class, and I've found a way to pay my bills, feed myself, and any spouse, or spouses plus put away money for my seats, and still found a way to do a few other hobbies.

However, it is my opinion that your not as poor as your making it sound.

I think there are far too many fans who automatically expect these big companies to buy up the remainig tickets. It happens alot, and when these fans have them to fall back on, they wont but a ticket for that reason. It's like they just expect it to be broadcast no matter what....

"There will be someone who will buy the tickets up, so why should I waste $40 to help out".....

That's their approach. They want someone else to shell out the money so they can sit at home. These big companies who buy up these tickets are only making amtter worse in the long run. It simply saves the fans who are too cheap to do their part, and it's what they rely on time and time again. That's why these games wont sell out IMO....

Maybe if these big companies stopped bailing us out all the time, we'd get more ticket sales as a result....

If memory serves correct your ticket sales dropped after the home playoff loss to Denver 38-3. I think people just got tired of the disapointment year after year.

Elway 2 Marino 0 :grouplaug

Mod Edit: Keep your smack talk in the depths. Last warning.

LOL, this dude will be gone soon.

also add fuel costs. Coming from tampa would cost 50-60 bucks in gas round trip. From Jacksonville would be $70-$80

round trip from Tampa=550miles /30mpg *$3.00per gallon.....$55
round trip from Jax=700miles /30mpg * $3.00per gallon......$70

Of course if your car doesnt get 30mpg then your costs would be higher.

It's not for lack of trying, I keep asking my friends if they want to go to see the Dolphins, but to them $45 per ticket, plus parking, plus all the food and beer adds up to a lot of money and they're broke.

I think the last preseason game was sold out (maybe one before I don't remember) but there wasn't really anyone in the stands..

I think people just like to buy the tickets and not go...heh.

usually if its being reported as "sold out" and the stands are empty its because the media buys out the remaining seats. This way they can make good headlines about a bad team.

That might apply to another team, not us. Im not going to debate about wether are team is good or not cuz i dont feel like starting all that up.

But theres no debating our media certainly doesnt go out of the way to make our team look better. They chew em up ne chance they get.

The stadium is empty up until the 2nd qtr. Then it is empty until half way through the 3rd. Then it starts to clear halfway through the 4th. I know the beer sales and such is why it is empty until the mid 3rd but it is still a joke! GB is packed for 30 min prior to game until after the team leaves the field! That folks, is what fans should be like!

I respect GB's fans..

Is there anything else to do in GB though? I mean..it's like their only entertainment for the year. Maybe someone should come around with beer (or just sneak it in..again), but I'll be damned if I don't have me a beer during the game. Sucks the lines are so long.

The reason other teams sell out easier is because all there fans are from there area, not too many outside the area. Just on this board there are tons of dolphins fans from other places. I wouldnt be suprised if Dolphins have the most non-local fans of all the teams, maybe beat by the raiders. Add to that what someone else said its not like other states where they have 1 team for the state florida does have 3 and all in closs proximity to each other.

Just like to add, I hope the dolphins never leave Miami, I have never been there to have a bias but the dolphins wouldnt be the same if they left the place where they made all the history.

exactly... south florida just isn't a native population... 90% are from somewhere else... they did better when they were in the Orange Bowl closer to downtown Miami, however...

i will say that the 72 hour thing is ridiculous...what's the point? why can't they wait until saturday... it takes the network how long to switch to another game if a team doesn't sell out?
