Why did we pick a Long Snapper at #185? Only issue I have with the Draft Picks. Does anyone else have any issues?

Did I hear correctly that the problem with Taybor Pepper was that he missed too many tackles? I honestly didn’t pick up on any issues with him.

Obviously, Danny Crossman pounded the table for an upgrade and he used the opportunity to land a kid from a family he knows.

I still wonder if Pepper was somehow graded poorly on the placement and timing on his snaps and if coaches believe it played a role in Sanders' dip in fg %? If I recall correctly Sanders' fg % dropped his senor season when he had a new snapper and holder. He hit the NFL and played with a steady vet snapper and his numbers went back up in 2018 before dropping again when Miami tried to go with a discount brand snapper. Maybe the lesson is if you want to get the most out of Sanders don't pair with a middle of the road snapper and holder.

Plus he had to replace Denney........tough act to follow.

I was not thrilled with drafting a LS and i have no doubt we will be able to look back at this Draft and see more than a few players we wish Miami had taken there instead.

I don't love the Davis pick in R2 coupled with the Jones in R3 because they could have taken a better Safety(Chinn or A Davis)at 56 and gotten Madubuike or D Hamilton at 70, or possibly still gotten R Davis there..I don't dislike Brandon Jones i just liked Chinn more.

I know they could not have known that for sure and obviously they really liked R Davis and Jones at those spots and I am willing to give them benefit of the doubt on talent evaluation. And perhaps Davis is a better fit for what they want than the DT's I mentioned.

Other than that minor quibble I was happy(and still am)with the rest of their picks.

And R Davis might well be a big part of the DL

Placement isn’t a huge issue. You can be a few inches off in either direction and it’s not going to impact the kick. What really matters is where the laces land. Getting the perfect amount of rotation so that holder doesn’t have to make adjustments is huge. “Laces out” isn’t just an Ace Ventura quote.

I used to bartend at a busy restaurant.

It was a Friday night, the other bartender called in, so I had to make all the drinks for the bar and the people at tables throughout restaurant. I also had to take all the call in take out orders. On top of that, I also had to make change for the servers. We were slammed and I was in the weeds hard. the frozen drink machine went ape **** and started pouring melted drink out fo the spout every where. I had a take out order on the phone, drink orders from servers were piling up, the bar was full and then....someone broke a glass in the ice.

I was enraged from all the pressure and stress and just before I blew up, the manager came back to the bar and asked what was the matter. I explained to him everything I just wrote here. He barely paid attention to anything I said, pointed to behind the bar and asked why the broom was there......

We just got our QB and a zillion draft picks to remake the team in the same year Brady leaves the Pats and the OP asked why the broom is right there.

Sigh.

Most guys drafted this late never make a dent in the NFL...

Occasionally, they actually make the team and stick around through a second contract... but it's a low percentage bet that this happens.

A specialist late? To a team that had as many picks as we did?

I'd be surprised if we DIDN`T take a specialist of some kind.

Because Chuck Norris retired.

Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Segal and Sylvester Stallone were contacted, but all were too busy making the next Expendables.

If you think it's taking forever to replace Dan Marino, you have no idea what it will be like trying to replace a true football quasi immortal.

I think we can assume they had a high grade on this kid and did not want to risk losing him...they may have had intel another team was going to grab him in the 7th and.jumped them early.

The main thing I don't understand is we picked a long snapper when most teams never pick a long snapper in the draft and in the six round and not seventh. Six picks later the best Punter in the Draft at #191 was takened. Braden Mann was the pick and to the Jets of all teams. Punter would of been upgraded with Mann.

Brian Flores learned under Belichick. Special teams is highly valued. He's supposed to be an excellent long snapper. So excellent that they didn't even care to have a competition for the job, and we all know Flores is all about competition at every position. That should tell you something.

It’s a 6th round pick. Why is everyone freaking out like we took Robert Aguayo in the second?

Am I missing something? What don’t I know that would cause me to be as upset as everyone else?

Nope. They cried about Jakeem Grant, the 6th round pick too. Fans being fans.

Well Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round....so, what are you tryin' to say...we missed out on Tom Brady's replacement. Like was said before, its the 6th round. This thread has gone on for 3 pages now. Ugh.:dead:

This new snapper makes the laces land perfect almost every time. There’s a video of him doing it one snap after another.

Not stressed about using a 6th round pick on a LS. Miami must have really wanted him. Worried he would be scooped up in round 7. Is what it is, seems they still found some UDFA talent, even traded a pick for a future pick.
