Why would anyone take Pitts over Smith?

After all bashing you have done toward Smith, it is good to see you have come around and projecting him for the HOF.

Perhaps his bust will be close to Marino’s in Canton.

Honestly is not bashing. It seems there are parallels we all know too well with overhyped college athletes.

Smith has consistently excelled on the field and just this year he was the first WR to win the Heisman Trophy in 30 years. Half of FH just fixates on Smitty's slight stature but the reality is that he has proven over and over that he can separate from physical DBs. In every game in college and high school, he probably had opponents who set out to blow him up and they failed. In addition, he has proven chemistry catching balls from Tua.
Yes, Pitts is a great TE prospect and will probably be a big success in the NFL, but the Dolphins bigger need is an elite quality WR. The Dolphins TE trio of Mike Gesicki, Durham Smythe and Adam Shaheen just happened to be coming off the most productive season ever by Miami Dolphins TEs - check the stats.
My message to all readers is don't focus on Smith's body - focus on his body of work. There is a pretty good chance that he is going to be the pick.

IMO it has ZERO to do with the fact he played at Alabama. Has zero to do with the fact he weighs a buck-fiddy. The kid has got to be one of the smoothest receivers I've ever seen. Effortless is probably a better word. His natural athleticism and agility are ridiculous. But all this sneaky stuff he has pulled has brought me pause. Enough pause that I'd take Pitts slightly ahead of Smith. If we could land both, I'd be pretty damn excited.

I think Pitts and Smith will both be good. Adding Fuller should help Smith. I will be excited if we take either. If Smith drops because of his weight, and we can grab him after we take Pitts, that would make my day.

Im not saying I agree but a lot of pundits I’ve been listening to in podcasts etc say Pitts is an incredible talent as is is smith but many of them believe smith is the bottom pick of Pitts chase and waddle, mainly because of his size with one guy calling him a twig. Not saying I agree or these are my opinions but a lot of people are saying it.

Questions who has missed more time due to injury Pitts or Smith? Since we are talking injury potential.
Okay. Sure. Due to an illegal hit against the dirty dogs (UGA) Pitts missed some games this year..does that make him injury prone? No. You're flat out wrong. So come up with another knock on Pitts. I'll wait! lol

I have seen very few use "injury prone", or susceptible to as a knock.

My reservations have to do with his ability to not be manhandled at the next level. Ppl can talk about level of competition as much as they want, but good NFL DBs are light years different than those in college, even the top ones.

I am a GA Bulldog fan, so I have seen what both of these players can do to a pretty good defense. Pitt is a matchup nightmare but can be slowed down with the right coverage. However, Smith has always not only performed well against very good SCE defenses and other top teams but he has over-delivered in his production. The concern most people have is his weight. It was a similar argument of Dashan Watson, how he was a great QB in college but too thin. I think the same will hold true with Smith. Smith was unstoppable during the college playoffs. He regularly was covered by CB that will be drafted in this years draft. He destroyed each one of them. I hope the phins will draft Smith, he is a beast.

I’ve said this before, I’m not a supporter of any college team and all I care about is the fins. There appears to be a few fans who are college first fins second here. Fins and fins only that’s what matters here, pushing people forward and running other talents down because of a college bias .... we had the thread trying to call chase lazy a couple of months ago.... this appears to be no different

Trolling, trolling, trolling, troll on!

Pitts is a future HOF.

Smith is a HOF BUST.

even the biggest for smithy twiggy homers here won’t bet who has a better career in the NFL straight up! What does that tell you?

😊...that’s all! 😂
The homer chimes in. HOF? BUST? Please just stop with the Gator fan boy nonsense, you’re embarrassing yourself.

Some will not want to hear this, but the PItts fans might want to prepare themselves for this. IMO, the Fins will not draft Pitts even if he is there at #6 for these reasons....

The Fins have a full TE room they appear to be happy with.

1. The Fins have Mike Gesicki, their leading TE, who is on a rookie contract.
2. Adam Shaheen who they just recently re-signed to a new contract.
3. Durham Smythe who they re-signed to a new contact.
4. They just acquired Cethan Carter.
5. And they have Chris Myarick on the practice squad.

Don't get me wrong, I lLIKE Pitts. He's rare talent at TE, size/speed is phenomenal, and he had NO DROPS. Adding him will give the Fins an incredible 12 man package that could be reminiscent of the days when the Pats had Gronk and Aaron Hernandez. But I don't see this happening after watching the team's moves and statements made in the media over the offseason.

In addition, I don't believe they'll take Jamar Chase with the sixth pick as some experts project, because the Fins were quoted saying they are not considering players who did not play last season. Now, could this be a smoke screen, MAY BE, BUT....

When Coach Flo was coaching at the Senior Bowl, it was reported Coach Flo loved DeVonta Smith; and when a reporter talked about DeVonta Smith's size (or lack thereof), Coach Flo appeared slightly agitated at that mention and got defensive, stating his (D. Smith) size didn't matter because he was still productive, even on the big stage.

I believe the Fins traded back into the 6th because they really like both Bama Wr's and know they will have a shot to drafting one of them.

Anyone referring to Devonta Smith as a future bust is just not someone who’s evaluation you can trust. They lean more idiot if anything. Like the tape does not lie.

You have a link to that report?
