Worst starting QB in NFL?

why don't they cut him?

sometimes i think vinny is lacking in his decision making! he should follow in marinos footsteps!

06, damn right

he even should have retire a couple of years ago!!!

He's a good fit with the Jets thought.... a bad QB with a bad team...

This has been a strange thread to read. Jay is better than so and so. So and so is better than Jay. Jay is one of the new breed of QBs in the NFL. Great ones like Marino and Kelly seem harder to come by, so teams are going with QBs that play within themselves and don't lose. Brady and Griese are others in that mold. If I were to waste my time trying to rank all the QBs in the NFL, I know I'd come up with a bunch that are better than Jay. I'd love to have McNabb. Until he proves he's more than just a great athlete trying to play QB, I'm not sure I'd want Michael Vick. If I had the right team, I could live with Jay. For the most part, I still think games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage.

BTW, I think New York (Jets) is in a pickle over their QB situation. They would dearly like to bench Testaverde, who is well past his prime, but Pennington has been so slow to learn the offence I think some are doubting he'll ever be able to start.

I wouldn't want to be a team depending on a rookie (Harrington, Carr, Ramsey). I think rookie QBs that can start and win in the NFL come along maybe once a decade. Manning was the last. Maybe Manning (Eli) will be the next.

Why wouldn't you want Michael Vick on your team? I would take Vick over any AFC East QB.

I wouldn't mind having him on my team, but he struggled a lot last year. I don't know how different it will be this year. He's a lot like Kordell Stewart in my opinion. He's a great athlete: great arm, runs fast. However, he's not too cerebral. I think his wonderlich score at the combine was fairly low. That tells me the offensive coordinator is going to have to run a pretty simple, dumbed down offense, depending on the athleticism of his players a la Mularkey at Pittsburgh depending on Stewart and receivers like Plaxico Burriss. If I had my druthers I'd take a QB like McNabb who is an excellent athlete, and also has some obvious intelligence and leadership ability over a Michael Vick.

Bodzilla, I'm not much for history in the NFL. I'm sure you're right. I guess that proves my point that it's tough for a rookie QB to come in and win. It's also true that Indianapolis drafted Manning #1 overall, which means they were the worst in the NFL the previous year. If it's tough for a rookie QB to come in and win as a rookie, it's got to be even tougher to come in and win on a bad team.

First off, Vick didn't play much. Vick had no run game, no line, and no help from his WRs. Those are some tough conditions for a rookie. Vick needs help reading defenses and accuracy, but thats to be expected for a QB who only played 2 years of college. After 2 years of starting, Vick WILL be a pro bowler. I'll put money on that statement.

Who wouldn't take McNabb over Vick? McNabb had time to develop into a great QB, a laxury Vick does not have.

BTW, Atlanta will have a run game this year. Duckett and Dunn.

As far as the new breed of QB goes Tiger, I believe you are correct. More than anyone in the entire league however, I would take McNabb. Manning and Warner are better pocket passers and Favre is still, well, he's still Favre, but McNabb is the whole package: huge arm, great size, awesome runner, precise, very smart, and he's a leader. There is really not another QB in the league that has all those things. Let's face it, w/o McNabb, the Eagles are a middle of the pack team who would have an outside shot at the playoffs and would never be mentioned as SB contenders.

You could be right, booyeah_, we'll have to see. Someone could purchase all of the opinions on this thread, including mine, for a dime and still get ten cents in change. What counts is what happens starting next September.

Boo-

Vick is a weapon, but he can't hit the broad side of a barn. he tries to run for 1st downs too much & has limited accuracy. He's goona throw @ 40% accruacy this year w/ 20 INT's. He'll probably have about 700 yds rushing though.

As for Vinny, I think I'd take him over Quincy Carter.

Fiedler versus other top QBs

Who cares who has the best QB in the league?

That does not win super bowls.

QB is the most glamorized and glorified position in the league.

If great QBs is all it took then Marino would have 17 Super Bowl rings.

John Elway could not win without the dominant Oline and Terrell D. Montana had Craig, Rice, Tayolor, solid Oline and Defense around him, but all the praise is to Joe. That is horse crap. Tom Brady sucks. REPEAT, Tom Brady sucks. Only pass he throws good is a five yard screen.

Bottom line is Miami wants to play hard nose football and set up the pass with the run. Fiedler like Marino has never had a dominant running back like RW. This year he will shine bright in the Florida sun and all the critics will have to face it that he is good enough.

If Tom Brady can win a Super Bowl and Trent Dilfer and Jeff Hosterler and Doug Williams then Jay Fiedler can too. Quit hating Jay cause your jealous your team does not have a smart, hard working, and competitive QB that is willing to do what it takes to take the Fins all the way.

Bottom Line:
The Jets, Bills, and Pats are FINished :D
