Bucs fans: Bryant will be in Miami next year

All of the impact WR options for this off season are likely to be tainted. From Brandon Marshall, Anquan Boldin, Antonio Bryant, Chris Henry and Roy E. Williams, right down to the draft with Dez Bryant and Mike Williams. These guys have all managed to piss off and alienate somebody.

But I mean, at some point you've got to decide. We have a locker room full of folks that work 25 hours a day, sing kumbaya together and lose ball games. Do you leverage that hard working locker room with all of those veterans keeping young people in line, in order to acquire talent that helps us win on Sundays? Or do you keep a pristine locker room full of guys that go 8-8?

I'd say the Pats getting Moss is a perfect example of how the locker room can "shape up" one with a pension for trouble.

I am inclined to believe that with the lifting of the salary cap, no legitimate playmaking WRs will hit the market; only those that are unhappy (Boldin, Bryant). The only option may be the draft where a nice gem at LSU is waiting, Brandon Lafell.

Here is an article on the exchange from Parcells and Bryant.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/columnist/2004-06-16-corbett_x.htm

After Bryant threw his No. 88 jersey to the ground in a fit of anger over his lack of repetitions as the third receiver, Parcells flung the jersey back at Bryant only to have it balled up and thrown back in his face. Bryant was then escorted by security off the Valley Ranch premises.

however the article goes on to say

If Bryant is a goner, why didn't Parcells just Donald Trump him on the spot? Parcells usually has zero tolerance for mouthy underachievers. But last week was a bad one for the Cowboys, and by pulling back from the whole heated mess, Parcells effectively issued Bryant his final wakeup call.

as well as

Parcells wanted a cooling-off period to remove emotion before deciding about Bryant. It isn't a sign Big Bill has gone Dr. Phil-soft in his advancing age. But he didn't get to the doorstep of the Pro Football Hall of Fame without knowing when to prod and when to back off.
Parcells has a lot more than money invested in a talented playmaker. There's all that coaching and sweat equity. Bryant likely gets one more chance to redeem himself come training camp. Remember, Parcells coached Lawrence Taylor, who got more second chances than Darryl Strawberry and Robert Downey Jr. combined.

This escapade went on in June and the Cowboys went on to trade Bryant to the Browns in October of that same year. I stated before that I thought Parcells and Bryant got along but after reading this I just don't know if we will bring him in. Looks like a story we will definitely be seeing again in the offseason.
First off, Bryant is no Taylor. Not even remotely close. If we are going to overpay for a FA WR (overpaying is a given in FA), I'd rather overpay for someone with more talent. "Better than what we have" isn't good enough.

Another receiver who has had two good years in eight! I don’t want to see one person who says “get rid of Ginn” say “sign Bryant”.

You might as well stick with what you have and not pick up someone else’s trash.

There's a Dave Hyde blog that cites the same thing, that Bryant and Parcells have made up with one another since that argument which ultimately saw him traded, and that Parcells does text him.

Bottom line? The guy will be 29 next year, can still play, he's not just better than anything we have, a year ago he caught for like 1300+ yards. He and Parcells have made up. He's kept his nose clean for some time now. He's experienced.

And how do you manage to catch 54 yards per game in your 9-year career despite the following list of QBs throwing you the ball: Byron Leftwich, Josh Johnson, Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer, Charlie Frye, Kelly Holcomb, Luke McCown, Vinny Testeverde, Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson?

The funny thing about this thread is (as I alluded to in a post earlier) the Bucs fans don't even care. Has anyone noticed the extreme lack of banter between us and Bucs fans? There's no rivalry here. Just because we occupy the same state doesn't mean anything. It will be a relatively quiet week as far as that's concerned.

sorry i am not for this. We have enough #2 we need a true #1 Wr. When i say true #1 Wr i mean someone as good as Moss or close to and pay the mo fo whatever. if he has social problems i think our coaching staff can at least tone it down.

yup. i noticed that too. i dont know if its because theyve been pretty bad for the last couple years especcialy this one. or just cuz they dont see us as rivals. but there definitely not on here saying anything.

When the Buccaneers are playing well there's plenty of hatred for the Dolphins IMO. Not much going the other way in my experience, Dolphins fans don't really hate Bucs fans, but for some reason like every third Bucs fan I run into here in Tampa gets the biggest sneer on his/her face (which often devolves into downright trash talking) when they see that I'm a Dolphins fan. Their writers trash talk the Dolphins, their radio guys trash talk the Dolphins (when they say anything about them at all), and I've seen plenty of Bucs fans that for no reason will actually be just a little bit happier on football day if the Dolphins lose.

Actually I got just as much out Porter showing how is act is wearing thin as I did Bryant. I don't have a problem with his past and he will probably be the best option available, but they can't stop with just Bryant. They will need to draft another playmaker.

It's interesting to hear that from a Tampa native I guess. I was born and raised in Orlando and by proximity alone I should have been a Bucs fan. But I never could stomach watching those god-awful uniforms (which on most occasions mirrored their play on the field). The Jags didn't exist as a franchise yet (thank goodness). I don't remember at any point growing up, or even now as an adult, there being any vitriol between the two franchises. But I guess you would know first hand, by living in the heart of Yucks country.

A surgically repaired knee.....history of problems.......past the halfway point of his career?

No thanks.

I think we can do better.

As long as his first name is DEZ!!!!!!!!!!!

He doesn't have the speed to stretch the field and that will be key if you are taking Ginn off it. Without that ability, we are no better off then we are now.

i agree but there is no question in my mind that Bryant is better then ginn
