Ever meet any current players playing today?

Yea, Randy McMichael is real cool and a real nice guy. He beats pregnant women with chairs for christ sakes. Yet in another thread, Dan Marino, despite the fact he dosent beat pregnant women and does countless kind acts for the benefit of others, is a real prick because he wouldnt sign something for somebody. Get real people.

Noone in this thread is qualified to make any value judgement on another person based on a chance, moment's meeting for the good or for the bad. Fact is though, those impressions can make an indellible impression. I was shocked when I was working a protective detail for a dignatary at the 2001 Eclipse Awards......Kenny Mane came in to the hotel (Ritz CArlton on Canal) from the Casino about 0300ish, and, I approached him.

I extended my hand and I said.. "Mr Mane, I just want you to know that I watch Sports Center every morning, and, I really enjoy your work. I find you very entertaining" He shook my hand and said "What's your name?" I told him and, he said "GoonBoss, I really appreciate you saying so." I smiled, and, turned away as he got in the elevator. He came off seeming very cool, but, who knows? BTW...Dick Schapp was as cool as they make human beings AFAIC. Bum Philips also seemd very cool.

Look, I can't judge the guy on something I have never seen him do. When I met him, he was a real cool guy. He was holding his child and even asked me if I would take a pic of him, his child and MY son. I didn't have to beg the guy for a pic or sig......he offered. He laughed and joked around with me like he had always known me. What he may (or may not) have done behind closed doors is between he and his wife. As for me and my family, he was a very nice guy. If you don't like him, that is your problem, but don't bother trying to tell me how I should feel about the guy when YOU haven't even met him. :rolleyes2:

have you ever met OJ?
or Hitler?
or Charles Manson?

i doubt it but the things people do are things they get judged on.
beating your wife throws you in that book.

Chad Pennington 4 times. I met him while he was in NY, but I would think it still counts. Also Fasano in Dallas. That's it for Miami players. I've met Jeremy Shockey, Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, Lavernaues Coles, Mike Nugent, and Peyton Manning.

It's really not up for discussion. I've met Randy and he was a nice guy. PERIOD. Seems that more than one person on here has met him and confirms that he was a cool guy. What happens in his personal life is his business and does NOT diminish the fact that he was a nice guy in person. So, save your speeches for someone that hasn't met the guy.

Once you hit your pregnant wife? Me personally, that DQ's you from anything above "Stuff on my boot" status.

I agree that in person perception is colored by the way they presented themselves in public though.

so as long as someone is nice to you than the things they do outside of that dont matter one bit?
i find a flaw in there.
so if i saw pacman at the strip club and he got me drinks and got me lapdances and i left and heard he later slammed a strippers head on the stage and got someone shot than to me i should still look at the guy as being a great guy??

What is your point? The purpose of this thread was to see if anyone had met current or former players and what they were like......I gave my answer. The fact is, despite what you think you know about Randy's personal life, he was a nice guy in person. One has NOTHING to do with the other. What part of that do you not understand? Now, had I seen him giving his wife a beat-down in front of me and my kid, that would be a different story.

I've met Brian Urlacher. He makes an occasional appearance back at UNM during offseasons. Really nice guy. Very humble about his success, and great sense of humor.

I had a class with Hank Baskett of the Eagles before he went to the NFL. I never had a real conversation with him, but he was pretty quiet and respectful in class. Few times I talked to him, he seemed like a pretty nice guy, but they were pretty short exchanges......

Am I going to have to go into this with you as well? K, plain and simple.....THIS THREAD WAS NOT ABOUT A PLAYERS PERSONAL LIFE, IT WAS ABOUT MEETING PLAYERS AND WHAT THEY WERE LIKE. STILL WITH ME? IN PERSON, RANDY WAS A NICE GUY, STILL WITH ME? GOOD.

I guess the next time I meet someone famous, I will hire a PI to crawl up their *** before I give an opinion on how they treated me or my family. :rolleyes2:

No need to tak that tone with me. I was simply commenting about a post. I have my opinion of Randy and you have yours. There is nothing wrong with that.

I do agree that this thread has been a bit derailed, though, and, thanks for pointing that out.

No, actually it was waaay derailed by a couple that just wanted to argue. I'm sorry that I can't lie to them and tell them that, "I met Randy and he was a dick to me because I heard his slapped his wife around." As I said, his personal life has nothing to do with the way he treated me and my son. Once these guys get that through their heads, the better off they will be.

As a matter of fact, back in 86 when I was going to college down in Pensacola, I met Roy Jones Jr. (Pre-Korean Olympics). He was a total prick in person.....but he takes care of his family. One has nothing to do with the other.

When you're right you're right. I should not've inserted my emotion feelings re: McMike. I think the thread is a healthy one, and, is a good "Off/on topic thing, which is to say...."Great topic!"...

You did the right thing by posting your immiediate feelings.

:hi5: This was my point in general.

I felt it was a personal attack and now my feeling are hurt.
:(
