Me too.
I agree to a point, but the idea that he holds onto the ball too long is just not supported by the facts. For all the years he was the most sacked QB, he was also near the top in quickest time to throw. The sacks were not due to hanging on to the ball too long. They were due to a line that missed too many blocks. I agree on the deciding to tuck it and run part. But, frankly, if that is the biggest issue with the QB, I can live with it.
He does. This was debated repeatedly during the 2012 - 2014 seasons. Several sites list time to throw numbers. Tannehill was regularly among the quickest to throw the ball. Here is an example:
https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/signature-stat-snapshot-time-to-throw
These were the fastest mid way through the 2012 season:
28 Ben Roethlisberger PIT 316 2.56
29 Blaine Gabbert JAX 271 2.51
30 Peyton Manning DEN 304 2.5
31 Ryan Tannehill MIA 261 2.48
32 Philip Rivers SD 285 2.43
33 Kevin Kolb ARZ 217 2.28
Here is another article from 2013 showing that the bulk of the sacks of Tannehill were "short sacks".

Here is another article describing the pass blocking disaster that was Bryant McKinnie in 2013:

Think about that.
A 2nd year QB was being protected by two of the three WORST TACKLES IN THE LEAGUE. His interior blocking wasn't much better.
Although I can't find them now, there were articles in 2014 as well that showed Tannehill being among the quickest to release the ball.
To rest I say, I see a TEAM that hasn't been good enough for the last 5 years. The time to decide that he is not the QBOTF is when it is obvious that HE is the weak link. That can only be determined by watching the games and evaluating how well everybody is doing their jobs. That is what the coaches do. Every coach we have had so far has come to the same conclusion as me. Gase re-affirmed it yesterday.
