Hartline agrees to terms with Dolphins

Everyone keeps complaining about his salary. He is only guaranteed 12.5, that's the important figure.

Good deal... Excited to see what we do with this money and the draft picks

It's a really fair deal by the Dolphins but also a gamble by Hartline on himself.

With only $12.5 million guaranteed, he will accumulate almost all of it with his signing bonus and 1st year salary.

That means after two season, he could possibly restructure or be released and save $5 million in cap space if his play declines.

Yeah, I view this as a great value deal for Miami - more likely than not the contract is structured to be very plausible for the first 3 or 4 years and has an extremely backloaded $8-10mil final year which is voidable if the franchise chooses. This will probably break out to a $4mil/year type of deal which, if that's the case, is a good deal for us.

Nothing about this is a great value deal. No reason to totally hate the deal but do u really believe teams were going to pay Hartline and more than 6 million a year. Very similar deal to the one Laurent Robinson signed last year.

Yes I think it was likely and in a few days we may see the proof of that. It's likely this FA period is going to get very silly as far as the $ that is going to be thrown around.

Well teams must have been willing to pay close to it otherwise Miami would have let him hit the market.

It's safe to assume that's what teams were telling Drew and Hartiline at the combine and the Dolphins decided it was worth it to match close to what they were offering.
