Jets to Hire Todd Bowles as Head Coach

Marronne really screwed himself lol. I don't think he gets another NFL HC gig

He has an offer from Houston to be an offensive consultant. Not OC as O'Brien calls plays, but a consultant.

But yep, he's the biggest loser. Opted out because he had a back door deal to join the Jets, but when he interviewed he supposedly turned off Woody. You also have a bunch of his former assistants (including his top assistant from Syracuse) badmouthing him left and right.

He could still end up with another team, but he messed up.

Yea...he's kickin butt in TB:lol:

I am happy for Bowles but am going to be furious if he ends up being an outstanding HC and we are stuck with Philbin.

obviously that hasn't worked with rex. but whatever floats their boat. look forward to crappy offenses from the jets for the foreseeable future.

I use to subscribe to this theory. But the more I thought about it the more you have to realize that simply coming from a defensive background or offensive background doesnt give a team zero chance to get better on the other side of the ball.

A good HC is a guy who can delegate and lead while letting and trusting his coaches to do their jobs. A lot of people think Bowles is a good leader, we'll see.

so now that rex is gone, was he a good hC?

:rotfl1:

The Jests are going to continue to suck for a while.

At least we do not have to worry about finishing in last place in the division.

Todd Bowles.

Look for Chan Gailey to be the new OC for newly hired #Jets coach Todd Bowles, which is an intriguing choice. @RapSheet

He has a criminal record? Is that why they classify it as an "intriguing choice"? I have never heard this.

Todd Bowles did a nice job with the Arizona defense but why are people convinced he will be a great HC?

Duh. Do you really need to ask that question?

As far as Bowles doing a nice job with the Arizona defense, I do not buy it. Their defense was loaded with talent when he arrived there. It was a really good defense his first season there and it took a step back this season.(Their D was 10th in the league in PPG in 2013. I am not sure what it was this season. Ours was 8th in 2013. No one is knocking down Coyle's door for a HC gig though) You can look at the details and see that their secondary got torched a bit at times, despite the fact they have considerable talent at DB. He is supposed to be a DB specialist they say. Yet, Peterson's play declined under Bowles.

Teams that did not buy into this hype machine dodged a big time bullet. LOL @ the Jests.

Not exactly what i'm talking about but i'll humor you anyway.

It's subjective. Most coaches end up getting fired at some point. Rex had an up and down tenure with the Jets. The woes on offense did him in.

But he's superior to any of your recent Head Coaches as well as your present one who should have been fired the same day Rex got his walking papers :3w:

How is every team upgrading? Pats staying pat. Bowles is an unknown so I wouldn't call him an upgrade. Buffalo had a winning record w/ Marrone now they have Rex who's last winning season was 5 years ago.

This is what this site does. Todd Bowles, who has done nothing as a head coach in the league, is an upgrade? I mean he might be but he's an unknown. You can't fairly rank him.

Rex Ryan at least has been in the league as a HC for a number of years.

keep in mind they lost key guys to injury/FA and the O was brutal. AZ was 17th in PA the year before he was hired, when to 7th in '13 and 5th this season- again despite all the injuries and inept O that kept putting them in bad spots.

I have no idea if he will be a good HC, I sure hope so but I do know he did an outstanding job as DC in AZ.

Not trying to troll you but have the Jets ever had a coach with a winning record? And I mean coaching the Jets.
