http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=59990&draftyear=2002&genpos=QB .....Show me a significant difference.

Even their personalities are the same.

Same bodies and athleticism. Both played WR and QB.

Both have accuracy and decision making issues.

Both are very bright and strong in their faith walk.

This was a horrible reach for a developmental player who may very well never be an even mediocre NFL starter.

I hope not - I knew Mcown would never play a down as soon as we drafted him - wasted pick by a clueless regime.

This is the dumbest conclusion I've ever seen a fan come up with. And oh yes since your such an expert im sure Tannehill will be the next Josh McCown. Wtf do you guys get this crap from. Its like yall are finding any knock on our draft. This was a brilliant move, quit hating

Accuracy issues...his receivers dropped what 67 passes or something. And decision making because his D sucked and he tried to carry his team by himself which lead to mistakes. Arron Rodgers was the same kinda guy at Cal and Philin turned him into well Arron Rodgers

first off Mcown played against sub par comp in college and stunk thats why he didn't make it in the pros. Tannehill's WR's dropped 60 passes last season so I am not questioning his ability but the ability of the WR's at a&m

I think it's awesome that we have so many 9-5'ers with superior football knowledge than that of professionals. We must be the luckiest bored out there!

Did they drop them because they weren't good receivers, or did they drop them because the passes were inaccurate? 60 dropped passes points to accuracy problems. Fail forward fast forever!

I understand what you mean by this - but I don't buy this. Dan Henning was a bum - he was a "professional". Tony Sparano did not have a clue - and he was a "professional"...and an alleged OL guru. I think we pump these NFL execs up too much...choosing ball players is not rocket science.

Shaddap. No one knows how the hell he's gonna turn out. We should all just be happy they FINALLY decided to address the most important position on the field ahead of all others.

I don't know if they were bums as much as everyone else was better. Resources in the NFL are limited. The best know how to obtain them before the others do.

Dude hasn't snapped the ball yet, chill.. We'll see what he is after he plays a full season. Either way, he's either going to make or break the careers of everyone in the front office.

So excited for the pick. First 1st round draft pick of a QB by us in yearsssssss. The kid is a studd. Although I do see Chad Henne 2.0 in him, I loved Chad and as a QB evaluater he has great stuff. Sherman and Philbin know what they are doing, they are men of QB's just like myself. Love the pick and love the number 17 he will wear on his jersey!

Drop is only counted as a drop if the official scorer thinks it is on the receiver meaning usually it hits the hands, otherwise it is incomplete and on the Qb.

Well, it's a better comparison than Akili Smith, who had no resemblance to Tannehill in style of play. If Tannehill were to lose confidence and velocity, perhaps via shoulder injury, he could look like McCown on the field and have a similar career. But that's seemingly the floor.

Regardless of how we acquired him, he was awful....but thanks for correcting me on that - I'm glad I didn't know. That's like asking me how we brought in Gibril Wilson or Columbo.

Dolphins gotta get some players that will actually be playing next year, because they have a ton of holes, and did nothing in free agency. Who else would have picked Tannehill if the Dolphins would have passed on him in the first round? I think that they could have gotten him in the second round.

Your conclusion is that 60 dropped passes means it's the QBs fault? I don't see how that's logical at all. The QB threw the ball more poorly than the WRs couldn't hang on to it?

I highly doubt that. He'd be too good to pass up later in the first round or in the second before Miami.

Name the only team in the NFL that didn't get at least ONE starter in the 1st round?

Every year around this time for the past dozen or so years I fully understand why this franchise is incompetent and an organization like New England will be in the hunt to win it all for years to come. They will have drafted TWO starters in the first round of this draft (Jones & Hightower) and likely landed another #1 for next year and we drafted a guy 20 picks too early. We could've traded back and back and back and still landed a QB to "develop" like we're doing with this kid. There's literally 20 guys that have been drafted since our pick I wish we'd have taken.

To quote Kiper on the Jets years ago:

"It's Obvious to me the Dolphins just don't know what the NFL Draft is all about"

First off, with the draft record of the great BB since Pioli left, don't know if that's a good analogy to use...Second, you have predicted that Tanny will NEVER start for us ?? Third, don't you need a trade partner to trade back ?? Were you in the war room and listened in to them not fielding any calls ??

It's pretty easy to bash these guys when we don't know all the details and certainly are not soothsayers to see into the future...

They all did better because they didn't waste a pick. Whatever they did with their #1 for this year is likely better than what Tannehill will give us but go on with your blind faith. See you next year when Barkley is staring us right in the face and we then have them both. Fine if that's what you want.

Kind of makes things simple when you have a quarterback huh? You draft starters at other positions.

You guys needed a QB and got the best available one without having to trade up. The Phins still have plenty of picks left.
