More "Needs" Offense or Defense?

Respectfully disagree brother. Mahommes just won with a TE only that really is just a WR. We can definitely win with what we had this year. Imo it's more on coach to scheme a different game plan. There's no way we have the best wr duo in the league and can't win with them while mahommes only has one receiver (kelce). Plus, if you watch the film back, on most plays that Tua threw into double and triple coverage, or looked for the long play, there were outlets wide open in the flats or on the short routes... so they were there...

They won getting 5-10 yards at a time. We’re an all or nothing offense.

You’re equating things that don’t add up. Not all talent is the same. You’re severely over valuing the skills of our WRs and think that translates to more than it actually is. Hill and Waddle are not an ideal duo. Each of them would be better served if the player across from them was not similarly skilled. It creates a void that becomes obvious on third and less then 6.

There are no similarities to our offense with KC’s. We’re a first read offense, they are a last read offense.

What, you don't like goal line fades to 5' 9" receivers?

Seeing the creativity again from Reid in the biggest moment of the SB and how he designed a play to get a player open and that player is the type no defense would game plan for and he uses the player that every defense plans for as a decoy makes you sad as a Dolphins fan.

We try fades…again and again and again..

It’s like Waddle and Hill were the only offensive weapons Miami had according to McD.

After all defense are triple teaming Berrios, Smythe and The FB down by the goal line.

Oh wait….

As I keep repeating. We need MLBs and OL...
I was reviewing the new coaches we have hired, and I found we have five Defensive Coaches that we are currently carrying over. They are:
Steve Donatell - Defensive Assistant Coach
Wade Harmon - Senior Assistant Coach
Austin Clark - Defensive Line Coach
Mathieu Araujo - Defensive Backs Assistant Coach
Sam Madison - Cornerbacks and Pass Game Specialist Coach

We now have six new Defensive Coaches. They are:
Anthony Weaver - Defensive Co-Ordinator
Wade Harmon - Senior Assistant Coach
Joe Barry - Linebackers Coach
Ryan Crow - Outside Linebackers Coach
Brian Ducker - Pass Game Co-Ordinator/Secondary Coach

We also have two empty coaching positions. They are:
Empty - Defensive Line Assistant coach
Empty - Safeties Coach

Yea, I know, those are some "spectacular" Coaching "Titles". - LOL

Since we do not list a Middle Linebackers Coach, I will presume that the following coaching positions address that function to varying degrees. Those positions are:
Joe Barry - Line Backers Coach
Ryan Crow - Outside Linebackers Coach
Brian Ducker - Pass Game Co-Ordinator/Secondary Coach

That means three new coaches and our current Defensive Backs Assistant Coach will be in charge of our MLB's. That is a huge change in coaching at that position, and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if a change at the Assistant Coaching position occurs.

The important thing I see with all these changes is that they represent a very serious attempt to address our MLB problems and actually almost our entire Defensive backfields performance.

This will certainly have a major effect on who we bring in as new players and who we keep - assuming what potential our new coaches see in our current roster. I have no idea who we will keep and who we will hire, because of all these new coaching changes.

It certainly makes it harder for a fan to predict what the team is going to do in regard to the draft and Free Agency this season. And that doesn't even address how our cap situation will affect any, or all, of the above.

Only one thing is sure - change has arrived for The Dolphins Defense this upcoming season!

Excellent analysis.

The Oregon center would be nice too. Hard to get both as they are likely going in that same realm of picks, 25-35, if I had to guess.

Chargers desperately need a replacement for Corey Linsley so he could be a target with their second round pick, unless Harbaugh wants his boy from Michigan in the later rounds.

I’d give up my 2025 first rounder for Powers-Johnson. Arizona and Washington at 35 and 36 could be receptive to that. Both need assets, especially Washington.

Would also create more opportunity for Christian Wilkins to return if you let Connor Williams walk.
That's an interesting scenario, especially for a team like Miami that is clearly all in.

Don't hate the idea.

About the OL... Now is a good time to start understanding that you don't need elite players there to have a good OL and you also can't afford to have bad players there... They want 10 slightly above average guys alot more than they want 3 great ones and the rest filled with practice squad players.

WR... Diversity in the draft, they can even wait for the later rounds here.

TE is something that could kill a handful of birds with 1 stone.

On D you pretty much need rookie contracts everywhere.

No doubt. I though Reid called a brilliant game and they pieced drives together 4-7 yards a play. We hate those plays, go for 20, miss twice and are in 3rd and 10. At least generally. This offense needs to keep the intermediate and big play ability but add the lethal Brady/NE, Mahommes/KC, short and methodical passing game to sustain drives, control the close and yes score more.

Tua could run the KC offense, but it would look nothing like KC when Mahomes is in.

This season, Mahomes scrambled around on like 80% of their plays and waited for the play to break down and he found someone who inevitably got open. It's like back yard football and it's crazy to me that this was basicly the Chiefs passing attack this season.

The Chiefs WRs were so bad Mahones eventually quit even trying to throw to his first read because they would either drop it or not get to the right spot.

Tua simply wouldn't have worked with this year's KC WRs. Kelcie woulda had 2,000 yards with Tua tho bc he would be the only guy who would consistently run the correct route, but inevitably Tuas lack of play making ability woulda doomed the Chiefs.

Your right there are no similarities to our Offense and KCs but there is alot of them comparing us to SF. Just like we did all year, SF abandoned the run and got beat. McD needs to get a more constant running game if we're gonna take this thing to the next level. And then STICK TO THE RUN late in games.

I said offense. The needs are many on that side of the ball. We need a healthy LT, slot wr, te, more ol and a off coordinator. coach can just manage and tell dad jokes

Defense because of all the injuries and FA's on that side of the ball, Chubb and Philips probably going to miss a good portion of the upcoming season.

There's only one Patrick Mahomes. What he did without many weapons on offense is impressive.

Look at how much more talent San Francisco had on the offensive side. The 49ers definitely have one of the best rosters in regards to skill position players.

I think it shows the challenge Miami has ahead of them.

Buffalo loaded up on pass rushers to better matchup against KC. It hasn't worked. The 49ers are loaded on offense. That hasn't work.

So, what does Miami do? Which approach is better? The 49ers definitely had chances. So did Buffalo.

Remember, also, the Dolphins have to beat the Bills first.

To beat Mahomes you gotta beat him early. Like you need a 20 point lead at half and even then you might be in trouble.

Some of Mahomes stats are loony toons

15 post season wins (1 behind Joe Mantana)

Hes played 6 seasons and he's 3rd all time in Superbowl appreiances and 3rd all time in post season wins.

Holds record for must Rushing yards by a QB in Super Bowls

In the last 30 years there has never been a QB who went 8 for 8 with over 27 rushing yards and a pass touchdown on a single drive. In regular season or post season. Mahomes did this in overtime to win the Superbowl.

Mahomes has started 96 games in the NFL and he's only lost 3 of them by more than one score.

Since 2019 he's 5-1 in the playoffs when trailing by 10 or more points. The rest of the NFL is 6-48.

1st QB all time to win Superbowl while also being the Leagues largest cap hit to his team.

1st QB to beat 4 of the top 6 Scoring offenses in the playoffs Dolphins, 9ers, Ravens, Bills.

In the Superbowl Era there has been 7 times a team came back from double digits in the Superbowl to win the game.... Mahomes is 3 of them.

Mahomes Record in the playoffs and post season, over 6 years is 15-3.... he made the AFC Championship game all 6 years.

Mahomes after only 6 seasons has passed Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for passing TDs in the post season. Mahomes is currently 5th on the list. 3 behind Farve, and only 4 behind Rodgers and Montana who are tide for 2nd. After next season Mahomes is likely to be 2nd all time in post season TDs. In his 7th year as a starter.

Stuff is crazy.
