also, I saw the hole in one question- I have never gotten one, closest was about a foot on a short par 3 (125 way down hill)
I did however, about a 6 months ago get a double eagle! I drained a 3 wood from right at 250 at St Marlo (a course north of Atlanta about 45 minutes)

Welcome. I played the UGA course and the Georgia club last year. I'm down in Macon but a good friend has a daughter attending UGA so we get her student discount there.

Welcome to the thread, double eagle beats a hole in one. Requires 2 perfect shots. Good job. Never played in GA. Played in Tupelo, MS when I lived there.

Rose went bonkers this morning and its not like Watson/Kuchar played poorly either.

I have relatives in Pontotoc a short drive from there. It was a dry county last time I was there so for a beer we had to drive to Tupelo.

Rose cooled off a little but the Americans are down 4 going into singles tomorrow.

When I lived in Mississippi all the beer was watered down. 3.2
We used to drive up to Tennessee state line and get the real stuff

Last time we visited there one of my cousins had hit it big in Tunica at the casinos. He quit his job figuring he was set for life with 20 grand after taxes

All my relatives there are farmers or truck drivers. Their rigs are nicer than their homes in most cases.

Me and a buddy teed off at 5 pm Saturday at Mystery Valley in Stone Mountain, Ga. We got in 13 holes before dark. Bad scoring, playing fast first time at the course. Lots of strokes from little things like hitting a perfect drive over a hill and not knowing there is water there etc.
It was a longer course so it forced me to not hit 3 wood off tee all day, so I made an adjustment and hit most fairways.
I use 3 wood a lot unless its 420 or more. My 3 wood is right around 250 off tee, driver is about 270 (but obviously not as consistent as 3 wood) so it isn't much distance difference for me.

Patrick Reed was a bright spot for the US in Ryder cup. Man this golf bug has me. To think I hated golf until 3 years ago...

Get it in now Slk. Another month or so and all the green grass will be gone and we are playing winter rules
At least no snow to deal with in GA like the guys up north who basically put away the clubs till spring. :idk:

Yep, living in Ohio you just starting getting in a rhythm and it is time to put the clubs away. Gotta move south soon

The Alfred Dunhill Championship is being played this weekend in St Andrews, Scotland. Can't tell you how awesome it is to see these guys playing three of the courses I played in April. Carnoustie is ranked the 2nd toughest in the world, Kingsbarns is easily the most beautiful course I have played and The Old Course and all it's tradition.

Sucks to see them play them far better than I did but still exciting nonetheless.

Any good courses where you are living now MD ?

There are about 10 public courses in the area but I haven't played since getting here in July. Hutchinson is about an hour from here and they have one of the top 50 courses in the U.S. (Golf Digest) but it's private. I'm hoping to get out this week if the weather holds. Our gaggle is getting together next spring but not sure where. We have talked a little about Wisconsin or Oregon. Most likely I'll wind up picking it then getting them involved. That's the way it usually works with us

Sounds good. One of the things I miss about living in Miami is lots of great venues like Doral . Biltmore or Key Biscayne and green fairways all year long. I still play here in GA in the winter but everything is brown grass or dirt except the greens which they keep up.
Never even heard of "winter rules" until I got here.
Still better than putting away the clubs until Spring I guess.

I will definitely miss not playing through the winter. When I was stationed in NC we would play in winter jackets and ski gloves. Can't do that here.

I foresee us doing our time here then moving south in either Florida, Texas or Arizona. That should be the last move.
