Tannehill - Wallace Overthrows & Underthrows

It's not about precision passing with the deep balls. It's about putting it in the appropriate catching radius and making sure you're anticipating what the receiver is doing. Tanny does not do that very well when it comes to Wallace. The other thing is Wallace doesn't typically extend well for the ball, but Tannehill was so completely off on most of those throws it wouldn't have mattered.

No one said that it is about "precision passing" but for some reason you seem to want to under-appreciate the importance of timing and play design. In fact it seems that you want to completely ignore it.

This isnt even a debate. I layed out in perfectly simple terms as to why some of these plays are not putting either player in a position to succeed. You just cant expect a lot of completed passes to Wallace with these kind of plays, it puts unrealistic expectations on the QB. 60 yard bombs are not a high percentage throw and thats why you rarely see it. Sherman was stubborn and archiac when it comes to his skill position players. He plugs and plays with all of them, doesn't adapt and this is what you get.

I've never ignored it. I've repeatedly mentioned timing and Tanny's is terrible.

It is a debate. There were ample plays left on the field, even at a lower clip would've produced points on the board or extended drives instead of a the dejection from another big opportunity blown. Nobody here is expecting a 60% pass completion percentage on bombs. But quite frankly Tanny's completion percentage of anything beyond even 20+ yards was poor this year.

Wallace was doing what Wallace does best .......... beat his man 1 on 1 and burn up field. That's exactly what we got as the season progressed. If you're expecting exotic play design for a man who is a relatively average route runner you're sorely mistaken.

Reality.

Its a shame that so many around here hate when that happens.

Reality: It's as Real As you want it to be!

(Too lazy right now to find the quote where you call "The Chronic Postseason Melting Heimlich Maneuver Poster Boy going back to college "a winner." )

This is so true and why i'm hoping the improvement really comes on Ryan's end. Wallace was exactly what we thought he was over priced and all. Now it's Ryan's job to take advantage of his strength which is getting behind most secondaries several times a game. When Mike gets that step Ryan must recognise it quickly and no matter what play was called lay it out deep where only Mike has a chance to get to it.

didnt tannehill overthrow a streaking hartline down the sideline for what would have been a td early in that second buffalo game? didnt matt moore come in at one point in that buffalo game and immediately hit on a bomb? every player has weaknesses but tannehills deep ball is pretty much pathetic and it cost us the playoffs and it definitely cost mike wallace a career year.

What happened to Moore after that throw? Oh right two picks.

The quarterback has to do his job. It's fine to keep blaming Wallace over and over, but when he's gone, then who do you blame? I thought we went through this already with Brandon Marshall.

There are lots of receivers, and always more of them on the way. There's only 1 QB on a team, he has to excel.

Wallace is nasty, good things happened when we actually got him the ball.

Sure, he's no Steve Smith or Calvin Johnson but he had a pretty good year for us playing in our archaic offense.

Tanny must get him the ball. He won't be sacked 60 times this year so it's on him and Lazor to get the offense popping.

In that game against the Panthers, the last play of the game hit both of Wallace's hands.
On two of the overthrows, Wallace's speed was erratic.

Tannehill has to recognize the read sooner. Wallace was so far away when Tanny released it that a Howitzer couldn't have 'led' Wallace.

But I want a guy like Marquise Lee who can fight for and win those slight under throw balls.

Yes matt Moore completed a bomb then the very next play threw it where only the defender could get it....what was your point again?

matt moore got pressured on that int because the o-line was the worst in the history of the world. isnt that everyones excuse for tanneyhill when he left points on the field almost every week? like everyones fav beat writer said, if he posts an 85 qbr we're a playoff team. buuuut he posted a pedestrian, mediocre 79 qbr. get the qb position fixed and we'll be fine. keep blaming the world like finheaven does and we'll be the pathetic franchise we've been the past 13 years...thats my point. WE NEED A GOD DAMN QB!!!!!!!!

Dolphins fans with a love-hate relationship with Ryan Tannehill think about this: If he's in this draft, he's probably No. 1 overall.
