What could you spend Landry's $14M a year on instead of Landry?

You need to watch other teams more. All 32 teams would say Adams is a better receiver than Landry. If your definition of “production” is catching a lot of 8 yard passes on third and 15 then I guess you’re right. Volume of receptions doesn’t make the impact greater. Adams is far more versatile and dangerous on deep routes. He can change a game, JL cannot.

You wouldn't classify these as "game changing plays"?

LOL the disrespect Juice Landry is getting on here now that he may appear to be headed for greener pastures is pretty comical.

He will have a ROBUST free agent market, and some of you are going to be looking silly downplaying his ability when he gets 60 million with 32 million in guarantees.

Yeah the world is going to end when our all star slot receiver who cant run routes past 15 yards leaves.

This thread has devolved past the point of the thread... this isn’t about Landry in so much as what could we expect to replace him with for that salary’. What kind of players could we add to the team with the $14M we wouldn’t give Landry?

Again, the debate isn't what OTHER teams may pay, nor he doesn't have ability. It's what any given team is willing to pay. I'm in the 'keep him' camp, but not at $14mm/per year. Just because a team pays a given amount doesn't mean 31 other teams agree.

Youtube is neat. I wish someone would post lowlights on players, every player has highlights. Here are some more game changing moments. These guys are under contract.

And none of those guys are as consistent as a Landry who posted nearly 1000 yards and 100 catches a year for the past 3 years.

He isn’t Julio Jones or AJ Green. He’s a receiver who consistently moves a sticks, with some game changing plays sprinkled in... that is valuable for an offense.

Fact is, salaries go up every year. If Julio Jones hit the market today he might get $20M a year.

My question is, would we spend that money on anything that would approach Landry’s contributions to the team the past 3 years? If yes, great, let him go... but if not, it’s a mistake.

Why is 14 million a sticking point? The difference between that and 11 million is the difference between paying a couple of Ted Larsen type JAGS or not. Who cares.

Jarvis Landry is one of our most vaulable football players. He's worth a good chunk of a percentage of the cap.

Some guys just don't understand football. Take a look at this chart https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/receiving#average-intended-yards
What you are looking at is the average yards that the ball is in the air when a guy is targeted. Landry has the 4th highest for receivers. The guys in front of him are Tate, Cobb and Wilson. Cobb had 92 targets, Wilson had 62. Reasonable for slot guys and clearly not the number 1 targets so that AIY is acceptable. Tate had 120 targets. 41 less targets than Landry and yet he had 16 more yards than Landry, clearly more dynamic than Landry at RAC and yet I bet people here would rather have Landry than Tate because of his receptions. You would easily argue that every receiver that is high on that list is not worth 15 million per year but because we throw the ball to Landry 161 times per year, thus inflating his reception totals it makes people think he is a superstar on the level of Julio Jones and AJ Green. Landry averaged 6 yards per target. 6 YARDS PER TARGET. that is not acceptable for a number one receiver making 15 million dollars.

Theyprobably spend landrys 14 mill on another receiver from the draft who we dont even know ifhe is good or not.

They need to resign landry right now.

Hell, looking at salaries, 14 million could get you a top guard...and still have money left over

Did you notice all your highlights are against bad teams?

Not sure why the TD against the Rams was there...his team carried him into the end zone on a dump off. The Texans play was incredible and very, very rare. The plays against the Jets and Redskins barely count because well, it was against the Jets and Redskins.

Kenny Stills made more game changing big plays in 2016 than JL made in his 4 years here.

I’’m not saying he’s not a good player but he’s limited as a WR when you’re talking paying him top 5 money.
