Who Do You Pound the Table For?

You can never have enough pass rushers...

I know most boards as of now have him listed as a round 2 guy, and because of the depth at edge he may very well be. However, I'm beating the table for Jermaine Johnson II. I think after the combine and pro days he makes it into round one. He absolutely took over games at times this year. Pair him up with Phillips and Miami's pass rush will be scary. At FSU he played with his hand in the dirt and standing, at UGA he played some LB as well and looked fine dropping into coverage. He also switched sides for both with no issues or let down.
Did a quick check of his highlights. Lots of strip sacks in there.

You can never dismiss defense with Flores, especially if Miami can fix some offense holes in free agency.

I will say in the UF game I didn't see him give his all. At least it didn't look like it, but he was a force the entire season. He's probably going to be a second round pick because he only played one season of DIV 1 as a starter, but it was a hell of a season. Especially if Miami doesn't resign Ogbah they will be in the market for an edge guy early. The good thing is that it's a deep draft for edge.

I just read a scouting report on Lloyd that praised him for his instincts and communication on defense. It talks about a play where Lloyd literally moves a DE inside prior to the snap and then flies to the ball to make the run stop. That sounds like someone Flores would have a hard time passing up. I've seen Lloyd mocked mostly late 1st, early 2nd.

Question...between Dean and Lloyd who do you all prefer? I know Lloyd's a little bigger.
Personally I’d take Dean. I get some Devin White vibes off him. A smaller guy for a LB but the dude can flat out run and I love LBs that can run side to side. Dean also shows elite instincts on his tape. Multiple times I saw him recognize formations and alignments and literally get to the ball by the time the ball carrier gets to the line of scrimmage.

Devin Lloyd has great instincts as well. Also a bigger guy and probably better against the run than Dean but what separates the 2 for me is Deans elite agility and speed.

Without knowing what will happen in free agency, I could see Miami trading into the top 15 for Cross.

But, if the Dolphins take care of the offensive line in free agency, Lloyd or Dean could be targets.

It seems like Flores has been looking for that type of player since he got to Miami.

I think Jordan Davis could be in play as well. 3-4 defense needs that immovable nose tackle.

I ran composite ranking from several websites plus Kiper and McShay's top 30. Based on this we will have a chance at Jameson Williams and Treylon Burks with SF pick.

Nice. Great work.

I don't know how realistic it is to get two starting caliber/upgrades at tackle in free agency.

For that reason, I really believe offensive tackle is the #1 target in the draft. But I'd love Burks with thar SF pick.

No way Williams is there at the SF pick. Eagles will scoop him up with one of their picks.

Hey j-off-her-doll,

Here's another thought. If Miami can solve the offensive line and add a good veteran running back in free agency, it opens up a lot of possibilities.

Miami could potentially draft Burks and trade up for Dean or Lloyd.

That could take care of needs at running back, wide receiver, linebacker and offensive line.

With a reported $80ish million to spend that could happen. Might be a little tough assuming Gesicki and Ogbah are kept, which I hope happens.
