Why there is no question about Ryan Tannehill and his $17.5 million

Yes more than the head coach. The coach can call the play but the ball.is in the qbs hand and it is not just about reading the play correctly, the qb has to physically get the ball to the right place. Coach can call all the right plays but the qb has to execute it.

The head coach and QB are tied tightly together. New coach generally means a new qb.

by "generally" you are obviously considering Atlanta, LA, Buffalo, Washington, Denver, Detroit, NYGiants, PBurgh, TN, TB, Oakland as well as Miami to be the more recent "anomalies" rather than the norm eh?

Wrong. The players must execute as a team, not just the QB.

Nothing is more important than the HC of a team.

If the level at which he played his final eight games of 2016 were to become his norm, he'd be the best bargain at QB in the league other than Dak Prescott, who of course is making a fourth-round rookie's salary.

And this is why Dallas is likely to be very good for at least the next three years (including this one). They have the luxury Seattle did when Russell Wilson was on his initial NFL contract. They're paying a very good QB peanuts, which has them set at QB while able to surround that player with lots of talent with the remaining cap room.

Notice how much worse Seattle has gotten since Wilson got his second contract.

What is Dallas paying that oline?

With or without dallas OL Dak was a better QB than Tannehill(5 years starting in NFL) on his very first attempt in preseason.

You can't take one away from the other right now. He had a top RB and OL right out of the gate. By believing your statement that's pretty much saying if they swap teams, Tannehill in Dallas does worse and Prescott takes us to record at or better than 10/6 with our offensive line.

I'm curious to see how he performs without Zek but still having that offensive line is more than Tannehill has ever had in his previous years.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM SAYING

Wrong. Nothing is more important than the QB.

This isn't fantasy football.

Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien, Troy Aikmen, Joe Flacco, Doug Williams, Brad Johnson all have super bowl rings. Your thought process is fatally flawed.
