Merged: Madison vs Allen stats last 5 years

Yeah the Allen signing looks better and better all the time and I love the fact that he can come up and tackel. I would not be surprised if he came on some Corner blitz's and killed the QB a couple of times either. He actually cames pretty cheap too and it turns out he took less to come here when he could have got more to play for the Seahawks.

madison im glad is gone...this guy tripped over his own feet....will allen will have a better career

Little harsh there don't you think? The guy was one of the best CB's in the game for a long time, and he happened to wear a Phins uniform....give him some respect.

yeah i would agree on that...watchin a majority of the giants games since im from jersey and my bro is a giants fan....i know that will allen is a better player than madison...he's more athletic and is quicker as well. i like this addition. the only question i have is...now we have 7 defensive backs

1. Travis Daniels
2. Will Poole
3. Eddie Jackson
4. Renaldo Hill
5. Andre Goodman
6. Kiwaukee Thomas
7. Will Allen
(not to mention Shirdonya Mitchell who could fit somewhere in the starting lineup possibly)

So my question is where does this take us in the draft? Is it contigent that we could be picking up either an O-Lineman or a SS or FS? My guess would be o-lineman just to add more depth since we lost Stockar and D-Mac. But we shall see! :)

If Allen plays as well as most seem to think on this thread and Poole comes back to where he was before, then that could open the door for Daniels to move back to Safety....remember in Saban's scheme, the four DBs are interchangeable....Mitchell could be pretty good as well, he just needs a shot...right now, if healthy, he's the fastest DB we have..

Oh yea, Allen is a decent DB, but he's no SM...He might be a little faster now and more agile due to being younger, but he doesn't come close to SM in his prime....

stats for the last 5 years

Madison
tackles-212
passes def.-53
INT-10

Will Allen
tackles-288
passes def.-69
INT-8

Im begining to like Allen more. If the only knock on him is that he drops INT ill take that any day..(if he woulda caught the ones he droped who knows how many he would have)

This is going to be a big test for Saban, because Allen is horrible! The Giants could not wait to dump him, and yes I see all the games. He is a very timid tackler, and has hand of stone!

Wow!!!

Wait until you see Allen play!:shakeno:

5 years younger and stats don't always tell the whole story about a player. Ty Law had 10 INT's last year but did not play at that high of a level each week in coverage. Allen has much improving to do but is not horrible as some may beleive. The guy got beat a few times but what corner hasn't. Some are talking like we just signed another Reggie Howard which is far from the case.

Don't we also have Yeremiah Bell on the roster? I thought he started coming on last season.

I don't think he was counting the safeties on that list, only cornerbacks. Bell is coming back. I also think Hill will be a safety, not cornerback.

Comparing cornerbacks by statistics makes no sense at all. Champ Bailey is the best CB in football and he's only had more than 5 INTs once in seven years. Good CBs are avoided.

yes these stats are very deceiving. take terrence newman last year, for example. he only had 3 tackles and a career low 59 tackles. but he didn't give up a single touchdown and no pass over 30 yards was completed against him.

Personally I would feel a lot better about the backfield if we picked up a safety in the first round. Aside from Poole's potential perhaps, it seems we are still missing a top-tier playmaker in the secondary.

But there are still many free-agents Miami is looking at to guess where they go first in the draft. But as someone noted eariler, it's great the way Saban is signing players to shore up the team so that come draft time we truly can draft the best player available instead of honing in on one key position.

yeah definitely...i agree with you...its good to keep your options open to as many players in those positions as possible. :)

sorry to say this but sam showed his skills where gone aganist steve smith steve ate him for lunch just like he will be had agin this season ,can you imagine him tryin to cover T.O.,SANTANNA MOSS,BOULDIN,FITZGEARLD OR GLENN HE'LL BE TOAST FOLKS........

Yeah...I'm pretty intrigued on what Mitchell has to offer. Especially since I've been hearing how fast this guy is. Just wondering would you happen to know if we would lock up Schulters for another year? Or do you think he'll end up somewhere else this season? I remember seeing something about how he wants to stay in Miami but then again who knows? :)

WOW! Allen may improve his catching skills, but Madison won't become younger nor faster so i see this as a great renovation.
Good luck and thank you so much Sam!!!
