Official Dolphins "good Vibes" Positive Outlook Mega Thread

I'M JUMPING FOR JOY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON

Because Raekwon missed his entire rookie season, he's like another highly drafted rookie addition to the team. It's still early days but his quiet air of confidence is obvious and he's delighted to have his fellow Buckeye, Jerome Baker now a Dolphin beside him.
Funniest part of the McMillan press conference is when he refers to Michigan as that team from the north.

More positivity: McMillian impresses

If you think about the addition of known smart football players in McMillian and Fitzpatrick and their ability to at least provide the defense guys on the field who can make sure the other guys are lined up correctly each play....regardless if they are a huge physical boost (I think they both are) over the reserve, the mental boost should improve the overall units.

It will be nice to know we have guys who know what the hell they are doing at two positions that are key to leading a defense.

you can never have enough leaders on your team. The young nucleus is there. They just need to put it all together and we can have a good defense for a change

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If HALF of the things that went wrong last year just...don't go spectacularly wrong this year? Then this team is going to surprise a lot of people.

1) Is the projected starting QB going to be the starting QB in September? I feel better about that now than I did at this point last year.
2) Is our projected starting MLB going to be lost for the year to an ACL injury on the first play of preseason? Let's hope not.
3) Is a hurricane going to tear through South Florida on Opening Day weekend, resulting in 16 straight games played? Absolutely no freaking way. This is going to happen in 2019...possibly twice, because my wife and I will be putting our house on the market and getting ready to move to Florida. So I'll have to hear "Are we sure this is a good idea?" for six months.
4) Is there going to be an ungodly road trip from the West Coast of the US, to the East Coast of the US, to LONDON in a two-week swing? No. Also, that little bit cost the Fins a home game. Not this year.
5) Is an established veteran and replacement starting MLB going to lose his mind the night before the first game of the season and go AWOL? PROBABLY not.
6) Is one of the coaching staff going to snort cocaine and get involved in an affair with a hooker? Well...it is Miami. But probably not.
7) Is the starting CB going to get demoted and then get released for basically not doing his job? God, I hope not.
8) Is the starting running back going to be a locker room cancer and get traded away for a fourth round pick? Let's hope not.

2017 was a staggeringly bizarre and incredibly unlucky car crash of a season for Miami. Just...too many unlikely and unpredictable things happened. When an actual Act of God derails your season on Opening Day? We probably should have known to buckle up and buy lots of alcohol.

I will merge this with @Vaark's feel good thread in about 5 mins.... but after a year of Jay Cutler hell I just wanted to ask - how ****ing good does it feel to have a real qb again?

I'll expect you to report back on these as the season progresses.... :-)

Agreed. It's dumbfounding how the media is so short sighted. All anyone outside of South FL sees is "they were bad in 2017,so they will be bad in 2018." They forget the blizzard chain of unfortunate events this team had to face, and still managed 6 wins.

I literally lol'ed at this.

Yeah, after game 1 last year, I basically just shrugged my shoulders and chalked the year up as just 100% bad luck. I didn't let the losses bother me, but still celebrated the wins, because I knew that any positives, after all those negatives, was just gravy. My friends would ask me why the poor play didn't bother me. I told them "because I know next year will be different."

Good post. I give it two of Deadpool's baby-arms thumbs up.

You never know how it’s going to play out...but for anybody to suggest this team is devoid of talent, and has no hope...is crazy IMO.

Yes...the Dolphin are banking on the continued development of young talent that are heading in the right direction...the successful return of Tannehill...rookie Tight ends, the gelling of a rebuilt O-line...a young set of linebackers. But the possibilities are there that it all works and this team could break into the playoffs and possibly a legit contender next year.

A lot of “if’s” must occur....but it’s not impossible or ridiculous to suggest this team could be good.

I’m excited about a young talented secondary that already had an ascending Xavien Howard, Bobby McCain...a surprising rookie with real skills in Tankersley....the return of a player that was really developing in Lippett...Jones, McDonald(used properly...and adding an absolute stud in Minkah Fitzpatrick...this secondary is looking good.

Linebacker is where the biggest question marks are IMO....we need some real surprises from some young linebackers and this defense could be much better than anyone thinks.

I like the prospects of the pass rush we will present...and as great as Suh was....his salary, like Landry’s (what he wanted)...did not make sense.

I see letting Suh and Landry go as a positive move from the standpoint of their value versus their cap hit....and even more importantly...subtracting them allows other young players to possibly develop more by getting them out of the way.

Landry was simply targeted too much...we can now slide Amendola, Wilson and others into that slot role...and send more balls elsewhere.

Suh’s departure allows our young DT’s to develop and grow.

In the end...this season will ride on whether Tannehill can take the next step or not...if not, we simply need to target and draft a top prospect next year.

Such a great thread . Kudos to Vaark for starting it.

I seriously think 10 wins or more is doable this coming season (schedule gets a bit dicey in December but what else is new?) I think Gase will continue to adapt & be a good to great coach for us (he literally is only 40 years old after all) . I also expect Tannehill to be the Comeback Player of the Year top candidate for sure. Won't predict them to win the AFC East quite just yet but I am feeling some good vibes about the direction of this team .
