Tunsil Say's They Were "unprepared".......

It's one thing to see the defense confused and unprepared, like they looked in the 1st quarter, it's expected and the norm for the last 2 seasons under Burke. BUT, for Tunsil to come out and make this kind of statement, says a lot about the Offensive Line coach and Adam Gase, because offense is supposed to be his calling card. This to me has me, as a fan, to the point, where I've come to realize the whole coaching staff is not doing its job. Rizzi seems to be the only coach who has his units prepared, in spite of the few blips this season. Mr. Ross, I think it's time for you to grow a pair of brass ballz and finally clean house. Your players are telling you all you need to know!!!

He's shown his offense can be good when he has good players, not only when he had Manning, but with the Bears as well, and they also had a lot of injuries in his last year there. I don't think he's forgotten how to coach football. Shula and Belichick could have been on the bench together last night and we still wouldn't have won with linemen getting beat right off the snap on almost every play in the 2nd half. And our front 7 on D aren't exactly world beaters either. Let's have a good free agency and draft next spring and go from there. The jury is still out on Gase as far as I'm concerned, and I still give him the benefit of the doubt because this just isn't a very good team yet.

The Bears offense under Gase was not “good”.

I think Gase and Burke deserve 7 years like our limited game manager QB to see what they have!

Depends on how you define ,,good" considering the circumstances. Close to middle of the pack in overall offense - ranked 18th, 344.6 yards per game, 12th ranked passing attack, 6th in efficiency on 3rd down. It's true that they ranked 23th in ppg and 27th in red zone efficiency, but please look at that roster and all of the injuries they had and tell me he didn't do a good job in that situation.

This is huge.

When your best O-lineman comes out publicly and says this, oh boy, things are about to change.

So let me get this straight…Burke was unprepared for the Vikings 1st quarter scripted plays - then we adjusted and cleaned it up a bit later (but still got blown out).

Gase was unprepared for the blitzes (and 3rd and shorts the entire season).

That's bad coaching folks.

They have got to go.

i dont know where people come out saying tunsil is so great, he got burned all day yesterday.

Did Tannehill know what to do?

The line was awful, but so was the play-calling, and the pre/post snap reads.

One poster here said that the blitz hit Tannehill before he got a chance t look up...on play-action. There aren't enough seconds to do play action in the face of relentless blitzing. That's 40% Gase's fault fo calling that mess and 60% Tannehill for not checking out of that mess and into a slant, or Ballage/Drake 1v1 in the flat in space. What about him waiting until the play clock is down to 1 before he snaps it, without checking out of a pattern that takes 3 seconds to develop, in the face of a blitz.

Good QB's don't get sacked 9 damn times. They may get hit 20 times, but not sacked 9 times.

This is the criticism I have with Tannehill where I say I don't think he's a good QB. His defenders think I'm saying he's sorry. No, I'm saying that he should know how to, if not defeat the blitz...AT LEAST compete with it. I'll go back to Chiefs vs. Chargers...Rivers was getting blitzed as much as Tannehill. He destroyed the blitz.
Good points!!!!
And also, did you notice that we kept sending WRs on long routes instead of some quick slants.
And also, Tannehill could have gotten rid of the ball on some of those sacks. Once again indecisive, and holding the ball to long.

Nah.....we had runs blown up in the backfield as well by the Vikings defense. They overwhelmed our blocking schemes and we couldn't deal with it.

It takes more than one player to recognize a blitz and I saw no evidence at all that anyone was prepared or had a plan to deal with it. We did nothing different...nothing. The receivers didn't adjust their routes, the QB didn't take a shorter drop and get rid of it, the line didn't rotate or shift their blocking......nothing.

To me, this is a coaching and a scheme issue. Are we too arrogant in our offensive scheme to adjust in the face of a better defense?
I think you hit the nail on the head...……..a coaching and scheme issue. On BOTH sides of the ball while Gase sits there playing tic-tac-toe by himself, developing his next trick play.

You would think, but if you watch our oline, they dont anchor. They are in a constant backpeddle. At times you can see guys looking around for someone to block, actually looking lost.

Some teams only use ZBS for the run game, where it works best. Our problem comes from the RPO in part. We havent run any RPO in the last two games that I recall, but when you get those, the oline doesnt know if the play is a pass or run until the QB makes that decision post snap.

I think their blocking scheme carried over from the remnants of the RPO plays, so now everything is ZBS.

Well that seems ****ed up! Thanks for setting me straight. I didn't know.

You just answered for me. 23rd in PPG. I don’t care what your yards per game, 3rd down efficiency, or any other stat says...they were 23rd in PPG. Not good enough, and certainly not “good”. Bottom 1/3 of the league. So, actually, the offense was bad. They scored 20 points or less 8 times in 16 games.

He looked like he knew they were ****** and stopped caring in the 3rd quarter. That's horrible, yes. But when you know your coaches suck - I get it.

How about when Tunsil got beat for a sack on Tannehill? Did you see that he didn't even go over to help Tannehill up. What's the rule on that? ****ed up, or is that OK? Personally, I think it's ****ed up, but I never played football.

Yes that is ****** up, he checked out. Shows you that he stopped caring AND probably has no respect for his QB. Not cool either way.

He's young - sometimes young guys shut it down when they know their team sucks and they feel that there is no hope/no chance to win.

Sorry, but that's a superficial way of looking at it. You can't put a label on something if you ignore the context. I remember a lot of important people around the NFL being impressed with Gase for the way his offense performed that season with his best players on IR. They can't be all idiots.
