Flores Indicates That Rosen Is Not Ready Yet... (merged 3x)

When Brett Farve went to Green bay he sat behind Majkowski who was a vet at that point & was playing well.

Farve didn't replace Majkowski in training camp and as the starter...

simply

because

at that point he was NOT BETTER than him.

It's very similar to Rosen's situation.

Flores is doing exactly what I would do.

I think what we see on this forum is a whole lotta folks that have let the m0r0ns in the media make up their minds for them

and GIVE them their opinions.

Those guys are writers for a reason...

they don't know enough about football to actually work in the NFL...

in ANY CAPACITY.

If he is doing what you would do, then he should not have declared this an open competition. Because right now it does not appear to be.

If I had to pick 1 QB right now it would be TL in 2021. I think this coaching staff plays Fitz (he's gonna get hurt) then goes DE,C with their first two picks. I highly doubt they take a QB, far more likely they trade down.

Don’t see it. Better yet hope they fire every last one of them if Miami skips out on 2020 and waits til 2021.

You want to run a smart offense, use a smart QB. Just teach the poor guy before you throw him to the wolves. There's absolutely nothing wrong with allowing Rosen to learn while he absorbs the playbook. Right now his decision making isn't the greatest, let him learn.

I'm sure I've read/heard somewhere recently that it was Chad O'Shea that pushed hard for Rosen and convinced Grier/Flores to take a look. Does anyone else recall this? Might explain why Flores doesn't seem tobe 100% behind him, and may be valuing things like experience and leadership while O'Shea is looking at actual talent. Also why the move seemed so out of place compared to what the assumed Grier/Flores approach was going into the draft.

I know you have your heart set on Tua, but everything is already set up for the TL scenario. Rosen comes in damaged and needing help gaining confidence and developing into a leader. Flores starts Fitz to mentor JR and to protect Rosen from further damage behind such a terrible OL. Flores is a first year HC and starting Fitz validates his win now philosophy with the veteran players. You don’t let go of a premier potential QB talent without giving him at least two years in the system, etc.

Like it or not, this is a perfectly reasonable and viable approach For a rookie HC and can be justified successfully with dozens of reasons more than my short list. I said when they traded for Rosen that QB was off the table next year, and it sure looks right now that it could really happen. I fully expect the lines to be the focus next year in the draft and then TL to be the target the following draft. This would be a dangerous gamble by the FO, but if they could pull it off I would be thrilled. I believe TL could be generational quality, which I don’t believe any QB in next year’s draft to be. If they employ this strategy and miss out on TL, though, then I would be all in on another FO and coaching staff purge.

It's been implied but no O'shea and Rosen have both come out and said that they never had any contact going back to the pats days. The move is out of place because this never happened before in the league. One of the most unique things I have certainly ever seen. Usually a guy gets two years, but the cardinals front office was trying to save face

Seems ambitious to “plan” to have the top pick in 2 years. Or if Lawrence were to stay in school 3.

Seems real ambitious

I find it either disingenuous or naïve for anyone to imply Flores was NOT
involved in the Rosen trade decision. Really? So were supposed to believe
Mister Grier is a dictator and just shoves players down Flores throat?

Come on. That's just ridiculous "thinking" IMO.

They have stated, and restated, it's a COLLABORATIVE effort.

And for sure, Flores was involved in the decision on landing a QB
to be brought in for him to to develop.

DING DING

I wouldn't deliberately steer anybody wrong.

And anybody that thinks Grier and Flores and everybody else involved agree on everything is trying to steer you wrong. All they're trying to do is obfuscate Grier's impact and responsibility just like they've been doing. Coach Flores did not trade a 2nd round pick for Josh Rosen.

If the potential franchise QB your looking for is there, you take him. Its foolish to roll the dice that you'll be in a position to get a generational talent the following year. You only need to go back to 2009 when they had Matt Ryan for the taking and went with Jake Long.

Rosen is not getting 2 years especially if Miami has the opportunity at Tua, Herbert, Love or Fromme. The traded a 2nd rounder for Rosen which is peanuts when looking for a top tier QB. You won't find many starters that are not drafted first round. Obviously there are exceptions but the odds are significantly greater you hit with a high first round pick.

Obviously if Rosen makes tremendous improvement and is showing that he'll be trending towards the top this discussion is moot. But I have serious doubts that he'll ever be a long term solution for any NFL team.

I would think however on such a big move they must have agreed to some terms. Why would Grier trade for someone that he felt the HC would never give a chance to be the starting QB of the future? Grier knows this is it for him. He would be beyond ignorant to trade for a talent he felt the HC would simply ignore. Making a trade for such a young, at one time highly touted talent like Rosen screams he could be the possible future starting QB for the Phins. I don't think there is any other way to see this situation. Just as if the Dolphins decided to draft a QB early in this past years NFL draft.

I think on this move it is far more in the realm of possibility that down to the owner was in on the Rosen trade, let alone just the HC.
