16-year-old Scout Evaluates Dion Jordan

I don't mind that he's young, personally. Although the age does bely a lack of experience, which is something I do mind. But he could've been seriously evaluating football talent since he was 13 for all I know, at which point he's got some experience so I mind less.

I do mind that he thinks he knows what "everyone" thought of Dion Jordan a year ago, but that's a pretty common mistake made by 60 years olds let alone 16 year olds.

I will say this. I think he's a bit wrongheaded on Dion Jordan and also Dion Sims.

Make that same statement on the "other" board and you will get a PM from the admin within 5 minutes asking for some more information.

It is the lack of experience that comes with the young age that I was referring too. He may one day become a great NFL scout...who knows? But as of right now, I am not concerned about his negative opinions of these players due to the aforementioned lack of experience.

This may have been a little game, not unlike the 3 litmus questions that my friends and I apply toward sportsbook newcomers, but it should serve some value.

It's a Dion Jordan thread, at first glance. Yet there's a reference to Dion Sims, and a scouting report on him, quite high in the proceedings.

Was that accidental? Filler? My professor Joe Jares used to emphasize that every word was important. Cold cases are frequently solved when a fresh set of eyes discovers a name or tidbit in the initial reports that was foolishly never explored.

I knew the Happy 40% Adjustment crew would race beyond the Dion Sims mention and thrill to condemn, either the kid or myself, or likely both. Mission accomplished. It's part of that mindset, a tunnel vision loyalty and never meeting anything not worthy of overreaction.

I had other business for a couple of hours. My estimate was 20 posts before someone would uncover the Dion Sims praise. Comfortable over.

This site continues to amaze in terms of what is tolerated. WV made a post early in this thread that was low class, and would have been quickly zapped in virtually every other forum I frequent. As I mentioned, I pity anyone who defaults to that underaged angle. This from the same guy who made a fantastic set of posts in the Mike Wallace matter earlier in the day. On this site the administrators are sometimes the contributors of the low level jabs, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised if similar themes are held if not championed. Not talking about Nublar. He's predictable and defensive toward any criticism of the team, but very fair within that well established tendency. At least one other guy often reaches for the gutter, and it's disgraceful. Hard to believe he doesn't recognize it. I can't imagine wanting those posts under my name. I've held that role on one site years ago. I had to amend my posting style immediately, as concession to what was expected of me, and what was proper. In this case it's similar to the decline of the Dolphin organization as a whole, from the one I cherished as a kid, with classy guys like Shula and Beathard, to the current Ross and Dee mentality of say-anything, do-anything, if it hints at advancing our greed.

This may have been a little game...

So you basically took five paragraphs to say that you were trolling the board.

Good one, Awsi.

Raise the level, bro. Don't lower it w. baiting games.

This child also said Bjorn Woerner is over rated. LOL. If anything, Woerner is under rated. The kid needs to play more football and get off the internet for a bit.

The worst thing ever are NFL draft analysts who clearly have never hit anyone in their life. Now we have them cropping up at 16 years of age. Great.

There is a scouting angle that I believe deserves more of a look. Mackenzie asserts that Jordan is awful against the run. I didn't see it that way, but I also don't agree with the claims that Jordan is very good against the run. It's incomplete and undetermined at this point, IMO.

When Jordan is credited with excellence against the run, far too often it's simply a product of the system, not unlike Kenjon Barner exploding into wide open spaces. Who cares if Jordan takes an undisturbed slant and blows up a running play in the backfield? Oregon has done that with any number of guys since switching to this attacking mode. There are flash examples from Jordan in every game. Extreme kudos to Mackenzie for all but ignoring them.

How will Jordan hold up in traditional running plays in the NFL? I'm not sure. Stanford's tackles buckled him a few times and made him look bad. This is where the Heath Evans angle comes in, that Jordan lacks a powerful base. We'll be able to use Jordan in preferred roles more often than not but he's inevitably going to be out there in short yardage and red zone situations, if there's any hope of fulfilling #3 status.

When the pimples clear up and the pubs develop maybe he'll start participating in life ( football , girls , etc ) instead of just analysing it from his bedroom respite while mom brings him cookies and milk

Wow, now we are listening to children who have no scouting experience. Get a life.

Im sure not many here have actual scouting experience but its just another persons take. Hell who knows if his stepdad was an nfl player and another relative worked as a scout he could be the next Jeff Ireland

Things a man should never say.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Let me tell you something. Going to high school and college in the mid to late 90's every damn chick loved her. And whatever chicks loved, guys who want to get with them loved too. You get a chick grinding on the dance floor or at a house party to Vogue or Like a Prayer and you were in like flynn. Those songs were absolute panty droppers. Hell, I'll still throw a little "Immaculate Colletion" on the ol' CD player to get the wife in the mood.
