2015 Pro Days

Big day for Paul Dawson today. Has to answer the criticism of his attitude somehow. To some degree, he can't win no matter what he does at his pro day today. If he posts much improved numbers on his Combine, evaluators will rightfully ask what the hell he was doing in Indy. If not, he'll get marked down for his below-par athleticism.

I know Will might be his best fit and I know Philbin wants a character like Dawson's the same way he wants genital warts, but He's still the best LB in this class bar none. I'm not alone in thinking that (Mayock, Zierlein and others) but I don't think people realise how much more productive he is on the field than the other LBs in the draft.

I don't care how his Pro Day goes, the video is enough for me. But part of me would like him to do well enough for Miami to decide to sit down with him and see if they can work with his character.

ooooooh... i am interested in hearing the words on his pro day now as well.

he is one of the top ILBs in the draft, this kid plays with the instincts, but nothing can take away those vibes he sent out during that combine. and when i say this i do am not even talking about his numbers, or performance, it was as soon as he was shown on tv, his initial reaction he gave me from the first time i saw him till the last... just bad vibes I didnt like or trust.

he has some proving there, somehow, for me. i have seen his film and know what he can do on the field... i just want to make sure he would be there doing that consistently, for the Miami Dolphins!!!

Well he can always use the Funchess excuse of being tired from all the interviews the night before.

Absolutely, he played the 1-technique, where it was his job to take on blockers and free up his LB's and fellow D-linemen. Even being double-teamed, he consistently made plays. He just made the tackle on a small percentage of those plays, because he was being blocked by two guys. He caused a pick-6 against Indiana with his hit on the QB. Didn't show up as a sack or a TFL, but he made the play. Also, he did have 9 TFL this season, which is not bad for a guy getting double-teamed more often than not. Leonard Williams, by comparison, had 9.5 TFL. Williams had many more overall tackles, but he typically played as a 3 or a 5. When Davis did receive single blocking, he made short work of it, and the teams generally didn't try it often.

This. Carl Davis is a complete stud…and would be an absolute monster next to Suh. I would love to have him. Unfortunately I think they wait a bit longer to address DT because they seem to still be really high on Mitchell and also have high hopes for AJ Francis presumably as a 1-Tech.

We met with Hardison who seems more like a mid round guy but he is a guy a like ALOT. He's not Carl Davis, or that type of player really..but I think Hardison has the potential to be a devastating inside pass rusher in nickel looks.

Garrett Grayson Pro Day
The big event today was the throwing workout of Garret Grayson, who did not throw or work out at the combine due to a strained hamstring. Grayson, who ran the 40 at the end of the day by design to make sure he got his throwing workout completed, timed in the high 4.5-, low 4.6-second range.

The 40 was a side note to his passing workout. Grayson threw 74 passes and missed on just three, with a fourth one being an outright drop. He displayed both touch as well as the ability to throw the ball with tremendous velocity today, and the reviews have been positive.

Thirteen teams were on hand, including the Cleveland Browns, who took Grayson to dinner last night. The New York Jets were well represented at the pro day, and Grayson has private workouts scheduled with the San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills.

The team that seems to be highest on Grayson is the hometown Denver Broncos. The feeling is Grayson is the most capable of running the system that Gary Kubiak will employ in Denver; a system similar to the one Grayson ran at Colorado State. He also has the arm strength necessary to get the ball through the cutting winds that often blow through the Mile High City. There's also a strong belief Brock Osweiler, who's in the final year of his rookie contract, won't be with Denver after this season.

Quarterback Garrett Grayson was not able to work out at Colorado State's pro day on March 11 or at the NFL Scouting Combine due to a hamstring injury, so he held his own pro day on Monday.

Grayson (6-foot-2 1/2, 214 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.72 and 4.78 seconds. He had a 34-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-1 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.35 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.97 seconds.

Grayson -- who has 10 1/8-inch hands -- had a good workout. He threw 70-plus passes and only a handful hit the ground.

Grayson -- who is the fifth-rated quarterback in NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock's prospect rankings and in the discussion among Baylor's Bryce Petty, Oregon State's Sean Mannion and UCLA's Brett Hundley to be the third quarterback selected in the 2015 NFL Draft behind Florida State's Jameis Winston and Oregon's Marcus Mariota.

Texas Pro Day
Representatives from all 32 NFL teams -- including New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, three defensive line coaches, three linebacker coaches and a defensive backs coach -- were present for Texas' pro day on Tuesday, when 17 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Defensive tackle Malcom Brown (6-foot-2 3/8, 323 pounds) stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine and concentrated on his positional workout, which was challenging. Each of the three defensive line coaches in attendance at the pro day took turns putting Brown through drills. Brown worked through the very tough workout and was impressive. A number of NFL Media analysts project Brown to be a first-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Running back Malcolm Brown (5-11 1/2, 219) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 and 4.5 seconds, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine, where he was a top performer in his position group in the three-cone drill and 60-yard shuttle. Brown had a really good pro day positional workout. He went through his workout with the wide receivers and caught the ball well coming out of the backfield, leaving everybody pleased with his performance.

Cornerback Quandre Diggs (5-8 7/8, 198) had a 9-foot-11 broad jump and stood on the rest of his combine numbers. Diggs had a good pro day workout, displaying good ball skills and quickness. Diggs' brother, Quentin Jammer, also played at Texas and was a first-round selection by the San Diego Chargers in the 2002 NFL Draft.

Outside linebacker Jordan Hicks (6-1 1/2, 233) also stood on his combine numbers, where he was a top performer among linebackers in the vertical jump, three-cone drill and 60-yard shuttle. Hicks looked really good dropping into space during the positional workout, moving around really well. Hicks helped his draft aspirations quite a bit at the pro day.

Defensive end Cedric Reed (6-5 1/8, 271) has a left knee issue and was not able to participate in the pro day workouts (he was only able to do the bench press while in Indianapolis for the combine).

Wide receiver Jaxon Shipley (6-0 1/8, 192) ran the 40 in 4.58 and 4.49 seconds. He had a 35-inch vertical jump and 10-foot broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.4 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.93 seconds. He also performed 10 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Shipley is a very good receiver with very good hands. He is likely going to either be a seventh-round selection in the NFL draft or a priority free-agent pickup for a team.

Tight end Geoff Swaim (6-4 3/8, 252) ran the 40 in 4.7 seconds on both attempts. He had a 35 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot-4 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.52 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.31 seconds. Swaim caught the ball well, and showed better speed in the pro day drills than he does on the field. Swaim might have worked his way into be a sixth- or seventh-round draft choice.

Defensive back Mykkele Thompson (6-0 5/8, 200) ran the 40 in 4.47 and 4.48 seconds. He had a 36-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-9 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.46 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.97 seconds. He also performed 18 strength lifts. Thompson primarly played safety for the Longhorns, but moved into a cornerback spot when the team went into a five-defensive back set. He is a player that if an NFL team signs him, it must decide if Thompson will be a big corner or an undersized safety. Thompson has a chance to get drafted, but should be a priority free-agent pickup for sure.

Iowa State Pro Day
There was a large showing at the Iowa State pro day, as almost two dozen teams were in attendance, including Cincinnati Bengals' tight end coach John Hayes.

The main attraction was tight end E.J. Bibbs, who did not run at the Combine due to a left knee bone bruise. Today, Bibbs ran 4.79/4.84 in the 40, touched 31.5 inches in the vertical jump, 9-7 in the broad jump and completed 22 reps on the bench, two more than his Combine number. His short shuttle timed 4.25 and 3-cone 7.22. Bibbs ran crisp routes, and everyone in attendance agreed he caught the ball very well. After the workout, Bibbs spent close to 30 minutes with the Bengals, working the white board and interviewing.

Sleeper Thomas Farniok, the Iowa State center, also had a good showing. He measured 6-3, 1/8, 302 pounds, completed 23 on the bench despite having five repetitions taken away for poor technique, and touched 30 inches in the broad jump. His 40 timed 5.28 and short shuttle 4.57. Farnoik has been a consistent player at Iowa State and is much more athletic than his computer numbers read.

Cory Morrissey had a tremendous day. He measured 6-3, 256 pounds, posted a 34-inch vertical jump, 9-9 broad jump, and then timed 4.67/4.71 in the 40. Morrissey, who lined up at defensive end for the Cyclones, looked good in defensive end and linebacker drills. He also caught the ball very well, and some feel he could get looks at fullback.

Also working out was well-traveled running back Brandon Wegher, the former Iowa freshman sensation who played for Morningside College last season. While Wegher looked the part today, scouts in attendance feel he has too much baggage to be brought into camp.

Not in attendance was former Iowa State defensive lineman David Irving, whom I'm told is not allowed on campus.

Northwestern State Pro Day
Representatives from 18 NFL teams were present at the pro day for Northwestern State (La.) on Tuesday, when 12 players worked out outdoors on FieldTurf.

Defensive tackle Deon Simon (6-foot-4 5/8, 317 pounds) stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, where he posted the top bench press number (35 reps of 225 pounds) among defensive linemen. Simon had a good pro day workout, moving around well in the positional drills.

Defensive back Imoan Claiborne (5-9 7/8, 193) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 and 4.56 seconds. He had a 39-inch vertical jump and 10-foot broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.58 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.28 seconds. He also performed 13 strength lifts. His performance in the positional workout was described as very smooth and fluid, and he caught the ball well. Claiborne is a potential free-agent pickup for a team following the 2015 NFL Draft.

Central Florida Pro Day
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert, wide receiver coaches from nine NFL teams and defensive backs coaches from two teams were present for Central Florida's pro day on Wednesday, when 22 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Wide receiver Breshad Perriman, who was unable to work out a month ago at the NFL Scouting Combine due to a injured hamstring, boosted his stock in the 2015 NFL Draft a lot with fast 40-yard dash times and a good positional workout.

Perriman (6-foot-1 3/4, 212 pounds) was clocked between 4.19 and 4.27 seconds in the 40, but the official times being forwarded along to teams are 4.24 and 4.27. He had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-7 broad jump. He did 18 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Perriman -- who has 32-inch arms and 9 5/8-inch hands -- caught the ball better than expected during his positional workout. Some people thought that he didn't have very good hands, but you didn't see that today in his workout. He also showed very good change-of-direction skills.

The knock on Perriman is that he is not the hardest-working player, but he helped himself a lot at UCF's pro day and should be a low first-round to high second-round draft choice. He certainly has the pedigree. His father, Brett Perriman, was in attendance to watch the workout. Perriman had two career 1,000-yard receiving seasons while with the Detroit Lions, including a 108-catch, 1,488-yard season in 1995.

Safety Clayton Geathers (6-1 5/8, 215) stood on his numbers from the combine, where he was a top performer in his position group in the bench press and vertical jump. Geathers had a good enough pro day workout to impress the scouts on hand and help himself in the draft.

Cornerback Jacoby Glenn (6-0, 178) ran the 40 in 4.55 seconds on both attempts. He also performed five strength lifts before standing on the rest of his numbers from the combine.

Duke Pro Day
Representatives from 29 NFL teams -- including Pittsburgh Steelers offensive assistant coach Shaun Sarrett and special teams coordinator Danny Smith, as well as Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach James Urban and special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons -- were present for Duke's pro day on Wednesday, when nine prospects worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Quarterback Anthony Boone (5-foot-11 7/8, 218) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.94 and 4.89 seconds. He had a 29-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-10 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.42 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.43 seconds.

Offensive tackle Takoby Cofield (6-4 3/4, 303) had a 31-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-10 broad jump, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Cofield had a good positional workout, moving around well and displaying his athleticism.

Wide receiver/return specialist Jamison Crowder (5-8 3/4, 176) ran the 40 in 4.46 and 4.48 seconds. He had a 4.25-second 20-yard short shuttle time and a 6.98-second three-cone drill time. He had a 10-foot-3 broad jump. Crowder is the reason why the special teams and wide receiver coaches were present at Duke's pro day. He showed very good, soft hands when catching punts. He is going to be a special teams player for some team this fall.

Offensive guard Laken Tomlinson (6-3 1/2, 216) ran the 40 in 5.23 and 5.2 seconds. He had a short shuttle time of 4.73 seconds and a three-cone time of 7.87 seconds. He had a 29-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot broad jump.

Wide receiver Issac Blakeney (6-4 3/8, 223) ran the 40 in 4.64 and 4.61 seconds. He had a short shuttle time of 4.27 seconds and a three-cone time of 6.94 seconds. He had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-9 broad jump. He also performed 17 reps of 225 pounds on the benc press. Blakeney jumps and catches the ball well. He also has a track and field background. In his first college track meet in 2014, he combined with three other football teammates -- DeVon Edwards, Ryan Smith and Josh Snead -- to post the school's second-fastest time (at the time) in the 4x100-meter relay (41.32 seconds).

Fresno State Pro Day
Representatives from 17 NFL teams -- including Indianapolis Colts secondary coach Mike Gillhamer, Oakland Raiders assistant defensive backs coach Rod Woodson and a defensive line coach from the Miami Dolphins -- were present for Fresno State's pro day on Wednesday.

Players worked out outdoors on FieldTurf.

Defensive tackle Tyeler Davison (6-foot-1 1/2, 316 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 5.19 and 5.14 seconds. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, where he was a top performer in his position group on the bench press. The Dolphins' defensive line coach who was on hand put Davison through his positional drills. It was a tough workout, since it was warm and Davison was workout out all by himself. He had a good workout, but tired at the end due to the conditions.

Wide receiver Josh Harper (6-0 3/4, 185) ran the 40 in 4.54 and 4.52 seconds, and had a 31 1/2-inch vertical jump. He stood on the rest of his combine numbers. Harper showed good quickness in his positional workout and caught the ball well.

Safety Derron Smith (5-10 3/8, 199) did not work out at the combine. At Fresno State's pro day, he ran the 40 in 4.6 and 4.69 seconds. He had a 34-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-3 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.48 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.94 seconds. He also performed 18 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Smith had a good, solid positional workout, but he's not the ideal size for a safety in the NFL.

Cornerback Curtis Riley (6-0, 190) ran the 40 in 4.5 and 4.49 seconds. He had a 38 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-9 broad jump. He ran the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.29 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.76 seconds. He didn't do the bench press due to a labrum issue. Riley is a potential seventh-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft or a priority free-agent pickup following the draft.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...put-through-pro-day-workout-by-dolphins-coach

Today marked the return of safety Derron Smith, who has been out the past three months with a sports hernia. For the most part, Smith's return was a success. He posted a 34-inch vertical jump, 10-3 broad jump and 18 reps on the bench. His times included mid 4.5s in the 40 and 4.22 in the short shuttle; not bad considering he's 10 weeks removed from sports hernia surgery. I'm told Smith looked really fluid and smooth in the drills. Despite the surgery, he came to the workout looking fit.

The Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts all had defensive back coaches in attendance, and all spent time with Smith.

Receiver Josh Harper timed in the low 4.5s, though there were some high 4.4s on watches. He also caught the ball incredibly well. He ran scissor-sharp routes and displayed soft/strong hands.

Defensive tackle Tyler Davison measured in at 316 pounds and timed 5.12 in the 40, faster than his Combine mark. The Miami Dolphins put Davison through the defensive line workout. On Monday of this week, Davison worked out for the Houston Texans, and last week, the Arizona Cardinals privately worked him out.

I'm told 30 teams were in attendance at the Fresno State pro day.

Kansas Pro Day
Representatives from 27 NFL teams were present for Kansas' pro day on Wednesday, when 15 players worked out outdoors.

Inside linebacker Ben Heeney (6-foot 1/8, 231 pounds) had a good pro day workout, capping what has been an impressive draft season. Heeney was a standout at the East-West Shrine Game practices.

Heeney followed that up by posting fantastic numbers at the NFL Scouting Combine. He was among the top performers in his position group in the 40-yard dash, and he posted the best time among linebackers in the 20-yard short shuttle, 60-yard shuttle and three-cone drill. His 6.68-second three-cone time is unheard of for a player at his position (in fact, it was the fifth-best posted by a linebacker at the combine since 2006). At his pro day, Heeney had 19 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, which matched the total he posted in Indianapolis.

Cornerback Dexter McDonald (6-0 3/4, 203) ran the 40 in 4.42 and 4.43 seconds. He had a 40 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot-2 broad jump. He had a three-cone time of 6.93 seconds and a 20-yard short shuttle time of 4.56 seconds. He performed 10 strength lifts. McDonald -- who wasn't at the combine -- is a very talented athlete who just needs to be more aggressive.

Cornerback Jacorey Shepherd (5-10 5/8, 194) ran the 40 in 4.65 and 4.68 seconds. However, he's dealing with a hamstring issue that he's not 100 percent recovered from. So, he did not do the shuttle runs or the jumps. He made a great effort in running the 40 and working out on the field for his positional drills.

Wide receiver Nigel King (6-2 1/8, 214) ran the 40 in 4.56 and 4.54 seconds. He had a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-8 broad jump. He also did the short shuttle in 4.36 seconds and performed 15 strength lifts.

The pro day at Kansas -- which just completed its first season under new coach Clint Bowen -- was an extremely well-organized event. The program made the scouts from 27 NFL teams very happy by serving breakfast in the morning and pizza after the workout.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...kout-wonder-completes-impressive-draft-season

Jimmay Mundine, the underrated move tight end/H-back, measured 6-1 5/8, 240 pounds, touched 38 inches in the vertical and 10-1 inthe broad jump. He also completed 20 reps on the bench. Still waiting on a 40 time.

Receiver Nigel King timed 4.55 seconds in the 40 while defensive back Dexter McDonald was a very swift4.39 seconds.

But the big story at the Kansas pro-day is the performance of a receiver from Pittsburg State.

Gavin Lutman was a bit of an unknown to scouts as he was unable to attend junior timing day a year ago while Pittsburg State figured out his eligibility. On the field in 2014, Lutman produced 70 receptions for 1,196 yards and 13 scores.

At today's workout, Lutman turned heads with his testing numbers. His measurements were 6-3, 214 pounds, and he then went on to touch 36 inches in the vertical jump, 10-5 in the broad jump and time 4.46 seconds in the 40. Lutman's 3-cone drill was a swift 6.65 seconds and, he was timed at 4.09 seconds in the short shuttle.

Scouts were evidently beside themselves as to not even ranking Lutman through the season. Compared to Jon Brown, the former Pittsburg State star coming off to a tremendous rookie campaign in the NFL, scouts say Lutman, though slower, has a size advantage and is more natural catching at the ball.

Gorilla safety Keeston Terry posted a 34-inch vertical jump and a 10-2 broad jump, and timed 4.65 seconds in the 40, 4.2 seconds in the short shuttle and 6.78 seconds in the 3-cone. His 60-yard shuttle was an amazing 11.07 seconds. Assuming the time holds up, only three players at the combine (one which ironically was Kansas linebacker Ben Heeney) turned in a better mark.

Rice Pro Day
Representatives from 26 NFL teams -- including defensive line coaches from the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, as well as a defensive backs coach from the Baltimore Ravens -- were present for Rice's pro day Wednesday, when 19 players worked out outdoors on FieldTurf.

Really giving his 2015 NFL Draft stock a boost in the workouts was defensive tackle Christian Covington (6-foot-2 1/4, 289 pounds). Covington ran the 40-yard dash in 4.91 and 4.89 seconds. He had a 30 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-3 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.43 seconds and the three-cone dirll in 7.43 seconds. Covington performed 24 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Covington was impressive in his positional workout, moving around well and showing good explosion.

Wide receiver Jordan Taylor (6-4 3/8, 209) ran the 40 in 4.53 and 4.5 seconds. He had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-2 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.46 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.69 seconds, which is a really good time. He also performed nine strength lifts. Taylor is a very flexible guy, and has a chance to be drafted as early as the sixth round of the draft.

Rice finished the 2014 season with an 8-5 record and capped the year off with a 30-6 win over Fresno State in the Hawai'i Bowl. Rice's pro day this year was reflective of the on-field success the emerging program is experiencing (three consecutive seasons of bowl-eligibility). This pro day had the best group of prospects scouts have seen at Rice in some time.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ton-of-rice-boosts-his-draft-stock-at-pro-day

Receiver Jordan Taylor timed an official 4.47 in the 40 while also posting a 37-inch vertical jump and 10-9 broad. We're waiting for his 3-cone time, which I'm told was very fast.

Cornerback Bryce Callahan turned a few heads, timing 4.32 in the 40, while touching 43.5 inches in the vertical jump and 11 feet in the broad jump.

East Carolina Pro Day
It was rainy and cold in Greenville, which caused problems for the East Carolina pro day. The 40 was run indoors on a fast track and the shuttles were run in less-than-ideal conditions.

Receiver Justin Hardy timed 4.4 in the 40, but due to the track, scouts decided to add .2 to the time - a bit much in my opinion. I'm told Hardy will end up with an average time in the 4.5s, slightly better than his combine performance. As of posting, he was outside catching passes in poor conditions.

Defensive tackle Terry Williams measured 5-11 7/8, 329 pounds, down 30 pounds from his playing weight of 360. He completed 22 reps on the bench, had a vertical jump of 24 inches and broad jump of 8-4. Williams ran one 40 (no time yet) then pulled up with a hamstring issue on the second attempt and was unable to participate in drills.

Utah Pro Day
Representatives from all 32 NFL teams -- including Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly and a large group of defensive backs coaches -- were present for Utah's pro day on Thursday, when 13 Utes worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Wide receiver Dres Anderson (6-foot-1 3/8, 188 pounds) is still recovering from a knee issue and has scheduled a workout for April 14. Anderson is the son of Willie "Flipper" Anderson, who played 10 seasons at wide receiver in the NFL.

Wide receiver Kaelin Clay (5-9 1/4, 195) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 and 4.47 seconds, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Clay was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a return specialist after returning one kickoff and three punts for touchdowns in 2014.

Defensive end Nate Orchard (6-3 3/8, 250) had a good pro day workout, but the consensus is that he will have a hard time in the NFL being a rush/drop outside linebacker. His best position at the next level appears to be as a defensive end with his hand in the ground rushing the passer.

Offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi (6-5 3/4, 340) had a 27-inch vertical jump, 8-foot-3 broad jump and 4.89-second 20-yard short shuttle time, and then stood on the rest of his combine numbers. He has 34 1/2-inch arms, and his best NFL position is probably at guard.

Cornerback Eric Rowe (6-0 1/8, 203) stood on his numbers from the combine, which were outstanding (he was among the top performers in his position group in every drill). Rowe had a very good pro day workout, justifying Kelly being there (given the Eagles' glaring need at the position). The 2014 season was Rowe's first at cornerback after having played safety prior. He had a slow start to the season due to an injury. However, he's come alive during the draft season, having a very good combine and pro day.

Defensive end Greg Reese (6-4 3/8, 275) ran the 40 in 5.0 and 4.96 seconds. He had a 29 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-9 broad jump. Reese ran the short shuttle in 4.62 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.77 seconds. He also performed 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Reese looks like a priority free-agent possibility for a team following the conclusion of the 2015 NFL Draft.

NFL scouts on hand for Utah's pro day were very happy with how well-organized the event was.

I'm waiting for more information on defensive back Eric Rowe, but I can confirm something that I've been told over the past few weeks; Rowe is flying up draft boards and most feel there's no way he gets out of the second round. I'm told the Philadelphia Eagles are very high on Rowe, who's drawing intrigue based on his size/speed and ability to line-up at either cornerback or safety.

Nate Orchard completed 23 reps on the bench and looked terrific in position drills. I'm told since last night, Orchard met with the Cleveland Browns, who project him to linebacker, the Indianapolis Colts, who project him to defensive end, as well as the Minnesota Vikings at length.

Offensive guard Junior Salt measured 6-2, 325 pounds, completed 32 reps and ran 5.29 in the 40. The New England Patriots sat with Salt after the workout.

Jordan Taylor with a 6.69 3 cone at his size is pretty ridiculous. He's a slender guy but those are some tools to work with. Exceptional height and length, solid vertical, and shows very good agility. 5th round type player with upside.

Don't be fooled by Eric Rowe flying up draft boards because of his workouts…he was probably already up there and the media is just behind the 8-ball. He's a really good player.

Those are really good numbers for a guy his size as far as Taylor is concerned. He missed the first 3 games of the season but he finished last year with 54 receptions, 842 yards, 15.6 ypc and 7 TDs. Considering their offense was a run first type offense those are productive numbers.

I can't remember if it was Fin Thirteen or J-off-her-doll that first brought up Eric Rowe but it was well before the media caught on.

Yeah very impressive with Taylor but I honestly haven't seen him play much so I can't comment on how it translates to his actual game. I will be taking a look when I get a chance though…those are some great tools.

Rowe should be in play for us in the 2nd IMO. Looked good at CB and S…honestly I prefer him at S that can come down and match up on slot receivers as well but thats just me. I think he would be just fine as a pure CB as well.

League source informs me since the Randy Gregory story broke almost a half dozen new teams scheduled visits, San Diego & Pittsburgh included

I guess the assumption here is that he will drop out of the top 10-15 and so now he's in play for more teams so more teams are doing their due diligence.

Claiborne is a potential free-agent pickup for a team following the 2015 NFL Draft.

this is a kid above that I am interested in.... not sure if he will be snagged late late late into draft, but if not, definitely get him and try him out as a rookie FA.

getting more interesting.... best at Safety or CB??? I say Safety, but others say CB is still good for him.
