And we skip Center AGAIN

To be clear - I’m not saying that the draft is over. Yet. If we DO draft JPJ or Van Pran I will concede defeat.

But I don’t think Grier drafts a center. He just simply doesn’t do it. And that’s why I’m complaining.

And so we will get some mediocre players on the OL to build with in the years to come. More projects. Never actually plugging away a hole permanently.

Case in point - passing on Humphrey, a sure bet Pro Bowler at center - for a “serviceable” player in Eichenberg who could be moved around. Everyone - everyone knew Creed would be an elite center. But the other positions on the OL are “more valuable” right? 🤣

Looking like we are going to skip Center for the 5th year in a row. I count from 2020 because that is when we decided to draft "our QB of the future."

2020 - Cesar Ruiz, Michael Biadasz
2021 - Landon Dickerson, Creed Humphrey
2022 - Tyler Linderbaum, Luke Fortner
2023 - Joe Tippman

4 are likely to be ALL PRO's for years and ranked in Top-10
3 of them are on the best offenses in the league.
Some of these players we passed on.
Some of these players required a small trade.
The only one that was really never a possibility was Linderbaum. But if there is a will there is a way...

The point - is that we never prioritized this position. Arguably the most important position on the OL. The guy who touches the ball as much as the QB, who has to make reads, and who has to take on double teams more than anyone else.

I don't think its a coincidence that the best NFL offenses today have 3 of these players listed above.

We had the chance to grab the best center in this draft. When will we learn? I highly doubt Grier trades up for JPJ or takes Van Pran...

We got ourselves one of the worst rated centers in the NFL instead. AWESOME!!!
For what it is worth, as I understand it there are good centers available projected all the way into the seventh round, so we should be good without spending a number one. I won't be satisfied unless we draft at least two offensive lineman, hopefully a stud guard & a project for left tackle or swing tackle. On a side note do you think the front office will add a pic tonight?

Pressures matter. Sacks matter. It’s a roll of the dice. You all like to sound like you have a high football IQ. Scheme fit is a bonus. It should never be the primary factor when evaluating players.

There will be massive regression this year. We know that. We lost our 2 best OL. I say that because our LT can only see the field half a season. And our RT, Tua’s actual blindside will be Who?

We shouldn’t be trying to “patch up” this OL if we’re going to spend 50 million / year on our QB - we should be protecting him for YEARS to come. And to someone’s point - you don’t have to overspend on center. So you reap that much more reward from developing one in-house. They aren’t gonna go off and command a QB salary. They will be with you for their career.

When Tua can’t throw the ball because our speedy WRs don’t have time to separate and everything goes to absolute ****…remember this “trash thread.” You can add Barton to the list of players we would be much better off with if we had.
Completely edited out my question and did not answer it. But you want to tell others they like to sound like they have a high football IQ.

Tuas blind side will be Austin Jackson who played well this past season. I expect more growth out of him. Williams is being replaced by Brewer, whos not a bad center at all. RG is the question mark.

Tone it down a bit instead of attacking peoples IQ.

Don't forget we have cap space opening up. We are THE top destination for free agents.

We could very easily sign the best two FA linemen that become available. There is always a couple that become available in preseason and around camp cuts.

Edit* This is not the case for Edge rusher, which is why it was very smart to get the last good one on the board last night.

I don't think you truly understand the concept of value in the NFL and how it changes as the game changes. Example: running backs are nowhere near as valuable as they used to be. Adapt or become extinct

Being top 10, or even top 5 =/= ALL PRO.

Maybe you go off of Madden ratings, but I see Dickerson, Humphrey, and Linderbaum as above average in the direction of top 10. Ruiz and TYLER Biadasz are scrubs (50s-60s pff). Fortner had a 44 PFF score. Tippmann had a half season-ish due to injury but finished in the low 60s for pff.

Aaron Brewer pff is 71.

Granted, the scores mean only slightly more than Madden ratings.

I'd like to know why you think hes trash? He's an excellent scheme fit. And before you tell me about some sack numbers, remember who was behind him. Mr Statue (tannehill).

We have only gone through 1 round, some of the guys you named werent even drafted in round 1.

Cesar Ruiz, Michael Biadasz, and Luke Fortner arent the best examples when talking Pro Bowl caliber either.
The OP is so confused about the centers he is praising, he lists one who does not exist. There is Tyler Biadasz but no Michael.
Cesar Ruiz is not even the Saints starting center. He is the RG and only plays center when Erik McCoy is out.

Yes he is. "Brewer leads the league in pressures allowed by a center and is second in sacks allowed. That doesn’t even take into account the issue he has had with bad shotgun snaps at times."
A former UDFA from a small school that the Titans had no interest in resigning. But he fits our scheme so it will be fine LOL. Greir is a joke.
What I find as a pity is you have no confidence in our front office. To be honest I would trust someone from the Jets front office more than some Okie gm want to be from this newsgroup.

You know I thought there was something off with the name lol. I knew the last name for sure and have seen him play. The first name didnt mesh in my mind but used the ones he wrote because the last name is accurate.

Hear what you say about making difficult decisions … but we currently only have Holland, Poyer and Elijah Campbell to play Safety.

So if we’re trading him (and I would hate it) we arguably need to find 2 players in the draft and FA this year to play Safety
going on the assumption that our new DC likes running out three safeties from time to time, we will need more than just two more safeties. I see us drafting one, signing a veteran after June 1, and hoping a udfa can make the team as a usable practice squad player.

Jesus Christ, the draft is one round In ffs
déjà vu all over again (Cam Smith)!

RT is AJ who i do believe did just fine last year . And i don`t care who the QB is , to think they don`t need protection is something only a person who THOUGHT they had a high football IQ would think .
