Anyone else think Chris Leak will be a good NFL quarterback?

I really don't think he will make it in the NFL. I doubt he is even a first day pick. From the scouting reports I have read they don't think he translates well into the NFL. He is short, and immobile. He does throw a very nice touch pass, but I still think he will be another one of those great college QB's that doesnt make an impact in the NFL. Plus I can't trust a Gator QB. None of them have made it yet.

Right on! I loved Rhett and Taylor.

Grossman will if he can stay healthy

It's all your fault that the press is up USC's butt! We would have won it all by ourselves!!!

He may, but he hasn't yet, and may never. If he does, the stigma will be gone, but up until this point there hasn't been one.

Not making judgement, but could that flag in your avatar have a little something to do with your statement? ;)

...Seriously though, I don't understand the comment about the weird delivery.
I'll reiterate this. Leak throws the prettiest, most accurate, and best velocity ball I have EVER SEEN from a collegiate QB.

Look, if all Leak was is physical talent, then I would not have made this thread.

But I am a HUGE believer in that "it" variable in QBs. Leak has it.

Admittedly I don't like the Gators. Make that I despise the Gators, and have since properly taught by my dad at age 3. I did like Ron Zook, the guy who recruited Leak and got screwed out of a deserved lifetime contract.

I think Leak's delivery is a little bit mechanical. Coming out of high school I thought it was ideal, but he seems to have changed it. Maybe because of his height and some instruction from the coaching staff he holds the ball higher and stiffer than before. I don't necessarily like that, similar to the Tedford QBs. It doesn't look as natural as the form I remembered from the Army High School All Star Game after his senior year. I taped that game and the two stars were Leak and Reggie Bush.

Something bothers me about Leak. He had a chance to pull out the Miami game as a freshman in 2003, after Berlin made the miracle comeback, but threw a forced INT on first down with about 30 seconds remaining. He played poorly in both bowl games and Florida lost convincingly both times. Against Arkansas as a frosh he tried his damndest to blow a massive lead in the 4th quarter but was bailed out on a dumb roughing play by Tony Bua after throwing a stupid forced INT. Stuff like losing to Mississippi State doesn't inspire confidence either. I'm willing to give Leak two years to bloom under a good coach, but right now I can't see him being a high pick.

Didn't Oklahoma get blown out in there conference championship game, and still went to the National Championship? I think USC would've beaten LSU, but I still get disgusted by the NCAA, how can a team that wasn't conference champs, possibly be the national champs? I would've been surprised if LSU was within 20 of USC, if they played, but the NCAA is garbage, and the BCS is ridiculous, and unfortunately we'll never know.

Chris Leak will be a good NFL Qb, but nobody in college football is in the same category as Leinart, IMO.

That's cool.

Like you said though, just give him some time to gain valuable experience. It only took Carson Palmer one good year to earn the #1 overall pick in the draft.

Many people thought he'd go lower too until that GREAT senior year.

Yeah, Oklahoma got crushed. But you can't say USC would have definitely beaten LSU that year.

Do you know LSU had one of, if not the best defense in NCAA history that season?

LAST year was the year USC was indestructable. LSU would have given USC the toughest game they've ever played in 2003.

No. Leak won't be a good NFL QB. He doesn't have the maturity to make it. I played against him in high school. Everytime someone else on the team made a mistake, he would cry about it. He cried about getting sacked. He blamed all his incomplete passes on the receivers. I don't want him in Miami.
so even tho that had to be about 4 yrs ago if not more, you dont think he could have matured by then? i mean he was 16 or 17 then? i'm sure he grew up a little bit

I can tell you one thing, Leak looks like twice the damn QB Omar Jacobs does. From every standpoint from mobility, to intelligence, to throwing mechanics.

Noone can really know, but still I can't see how a team that doesn't win there conference championship can be in the National championship. LSU vs USC should've been the championship game that year.
