33 per year is pretty good. Roughly one per team. So basically sounds like u have a better chance of someone from your UDFA class making your roster than a 6th or 7th round pick. You just don’t know which guy it will be.So 15 players (on average) on every team are UDFAs from that year? That is not remotely true. There may be 30% total in the NFL, but that is cumulative, and is not representative of an individual UDFA's chances of making a final roster. That number is less than 2%.
For example (from 2020) only 33 UDFAs from the previous draft year made opening day rosters (around 2%).
Only 16 teams out of the 32 in the NFL kept a player on their 53 man roster who went undrafted in 2020. What you said may be true, but wasn't really the context of the discussion. The odds of an UDFA sticking are pretty freaking low.
33 Undrafted Free Agents made the initial 53 man rosters
Reggie Gilliam made the Buffalo Bills 53 man roster after getting signed as an undrafted free agent. I love this signing!www.nfldraftdiamonds.com
In the past 3 years we’ve added Needham, Preston, and Robert Jones as UDFA’s.
Compare that to our 6th/7th rounders of the past 3 years… Isaiah Prince, Chandler Cox, Gaskin, Malcolm Perry, Blake Ferguson, Gerrid Doaks, Larnel Coleman
Three UDFA’s have contributed to our team in some way over that time. While the only 6th/7th rounders to do anything are Gaskin and a long snapper.
