Barry Jackson Gives a Critical Look at the Coaching Staff

This is a very disturbing article and unfortunately is exactly what I thought was happening. Can someone send this to Ross? And I'm serious do u think he actually reads an article like this?

Philbin reminds me of a battalion commander I had when I was stationed in Germany. This guy wanted all of the vehicles in the motor pool to have their windshield wipers angled at exactly 30 degrees (we would have to use a protractor to get the angle exactly correct, but I digress) and each vehicle had to be parked so that if you stood at the end of the line, each bumper aligned. Now he didn't care if the vehicles could run or if they had all their tires etc. Philbin is the same way, a master of the mundane. There is probably not one coach in the nfl who is scared that Philbin will unveil some wild offensive scheme or formation. Philbin sold Ross a pig in the poke by promising a potent offense.

Good analogy.

jeff was upset the rookies didn't play more...other than dion jordan who we could have used more creatively to get snaps out of and it's on coyle that we didn't none of em deserved to play more...

just jeff trying to save his hide after another crappy draft...on top of everything else...

i have no idea why that oline coach is still in the building...

thats crap and piling on jeffy. Everyone on earth is wondering why the rooks didnt play more and we know Philbin has this as his philosophy. its not hard to figure out the facts here.

And to focus on the positive, lazor was Joe's pick, whatever failures Joe may have, he may have saved himself here with this hire. At least that is the part of this article I got out of this.

Players ultimately didnt execute well down the stretch. They couldnt handle success very well. We won 3 in a row twice and then faultered. Everyone should take the blame. But none did, they all had to cover there asses and thats an environment created by those at the top IMO.

This is an absolutely damning article. And for anyone who claims that the "associates" are just disgruntled player agents, that's a simplistic view. There are plenty of details in the article that fans have expressed concerns about for the past two years - inexperienced position coaches, coaches unable to put players in a position to succeed, Philbin lacking play- calling experience, Philbin being unable to motivate players, Philbin wanting players who voiced an opinion off of his team.

Reading this made me sick to my stomach. I don't know why the Dolphins hired Philbin and don't understand why Ross is keeping Philbin. The team collapsed down the stretch. There were clear locker room issues that Philbin didn't control or fix. So, you have poor performance on the field, poor performance by Philbin's hand-picked coaches, and an unstable locker room. Why does Philbin still have a job?

I think Ross believed that Philbin is the one who made Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. Yeah right. Philbin didn't even call the plays in Green Bay for crying out loud.

Jackson's article talks about asst coaches not teaching players anything and this is what I have been saying for a long time. We have asst coaches who can't develop any talent. A recipe for consistant failure.

He probably can't even read. The guy is so clueless it isn't even funny. He has people like Carl Peterson and Dawn Aponte leading him around by his nose and stringing him along like a puppet. He'll NEVER get it

Report: Fins players don't respect coaches

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8351/joe-philbin

A source informed the Miami Herald that Dolphins players don't have "great respect for the coaching staff there."
"Criticism of the coaches is consistent with everyone I talk to on the team," said the source. "You have some assistants who weren’t experienced or comfortable in their jobs. Some players said they didn’t learn much. It’s pretty disconcerting. There’s not a lot of great teaching there." This mostly has to do with position coaches and coordinators, but even head coach Joe Philbin is taking some heat from inside the locker room. He's been described as "flat" and "unemotional," while another said Philbin's just a guy who's "on top of scheduling and planning." Philbin's seat will be one of the hotter ones in 2014, especially with a new GM coming to town. The only reason he survived this offseason is because owner Stephen Ross thinks so highly of him.

Everybody is always so much smarter later....ever notice that?

Media too. they act like they knew this all along. Well, I can go get opinions of people who knew them all day and they would defend Joe all day and hire him back in a nanosecond. Its just a point of view to shed some light.

This was the fear I've expressed a bunch of times here. It's painful to see it in print because I'd hoped that wasn't actually the case.

You'd think firing Turner for the crappy job he'd done would have occurred to Philbin.

Turner is related to Sherman and QB Coach Zac Taylor is Sherman's son-in-law so Philbin isn't going to fire either one of them. Sherman would still be here too if it weren't for people pressuring Philbin to get rid of him. Zac Taylor and Jim Turner have no business coaching in the NFL.

This kind of validates everything I already believed about the coaching staff. Philbin is truly uninspiring and the only thing he really brings to the table is organizational skills. That is why his only truly "innovative" ideas have been changing the day off to Thursday and running practices a bit differently.

It is sad that I have more faith in the newly hired OC to lead this team based on a few interviews I saw than the current HC.

Philbin will mire us in mediocrity for a few more years, costing us games with bad game day decisions and unprepared teams. But Ross will keep him on because he is "organized". A perfect for for a SUIT like Ross.

This team is being run like a corporation and it's killing us.

I would also give credit to Joe that I think he has done well guiding RT early in his career. However, he did him a disservice by not demanding more runs this year

Our running game sucked this year. Your the first to pile on about bad play calling when we run the ball on third and one and don't make it but in turn suggest we run the ball more. I could care less if we ran the ball zero times because I had no faith in it what-so-ever, be it the line not being able to run block or the RB's which are just backup quality I don't know. My biggest bitch was the lack of getting Tannehill out of the pocket, letting him pull the ball down and get those yards our RB's can't do. Additionally we should of used more screens and bubble passes, Miller proved average at those too so maybe giving Thigpin more time.

There was just something bad with the Dolphins this year on offense and as we sit now I'm hopping Lazor can be innovative enough to fix it. One play to me that said just how poorly our designs were was those swing passes to Wallace on the edge, seemed like every time he caught the ball someone was on him instantly and with his speed they should be giving him plenty of space. Watch the Bears or Broncos do those plays with much slower receivers, they have open fields in front of them constantly. And those aren't Tannehill problems, that play is called to done immediately.

And notice the players who are putting the blame on coaches.

I wonder which players he is talking about?

condition of anonymity. ah yes. but what we need to do here is get to who is at fault here right? right! Joe! Your next up Joe! And Dawn wont be around to save your ass this time Joe!

what comes round, goes round. Particularly if your the Miami Dolphins.

I'll be honest with you everyone here on Finheaven. Yes, we may not have the greatest coaching staff, owner or players. But, at some point you gotta have pride and say, "Screw you national and local media" I am NOT gonna allow you to talk crap about my team.

It's like having a family member that may not all be there! Of-course within the family everyone knows it, But are you really gonna sit-back and allow outsiders to sit there and make fun and take Jabs at them? HELL NO!

It's disgusting, IMO, that we have "fans" that are perfectly okay and go to lengths to help outsiders that absolutely don't care about our team, pile on. You DISGUST ME!!! YOU FREAK'IN HEAR ME??

MODS..NEED to take a proactive stance on this. NO MORE, Dolphins bashing post from the outside. NONE!! If internally we as a family we want to talk trash about our team? Then that's fine. But, no more allowing people to come into our house and crap on our floor!!!

Im tellin ya'll. The sooner we move out of South florida the better. That town is poison.

and its a runoff of jackson's reporting.

And this infighting will continue because these so-called players will be the new "leaks" in the organization when the media needs to sell newspapers.

It's from the herald. Judging by their stories posted in the last couple 2-3 weeks, it's a safe bet that this article is the opposite of the truth.
