bengals are gonna rest their starters last gave vs ravens

If they rest the starters I'm sending Margus Hunt a message to tear Flacco a new butthole.

Didn't the bengals do that to the jets 2 years ago. Lose late in the season (maybe the final reg season game) and then get knocked out by them in the 1st round, remember the colts resting Peyton against the jets and that turned out bad also. Resting a player because you have your playoff spot locked up isn't a proven strategy

I dont think they would want to play the ravens on back to back weeks, and allow there division rival back into the playoffs!

why would the bengals want to end up playing a team that knows them well?

If Pittsburgh beats Cincy this week don't we control our own destiny? If we were to win out one of those 2 teams would have to lose their week 17 matchup which would put the fins in. Big game Sunday!

Another good thing is that the Bengals have a 1:00 o'clock game. Which means they won't be able to "watch and see" the Patriots week 17 to make a decision if they were 1 game back OR tied with New England. Pretty much we will know by the end of week 16

Yes that would be a good scenario for us. If somehow baltimore and cincy end up tying, baltimore will have a better divisional record in that scenario. A lot of this is mind numbing right now but it's going to be fun watching all this play out sunday and monday.

They would hold the tiebreaker if they beat them (my bad they did beat them already). . . which is why this "theory" is way too premature.

Plus Cincy was in a similar situation a few years ago vs. the Jets and rested their starters . . . the Jets beat them and then beat them the next week. It would be the same situation with the Ravens.

The Jets didn't just beat them in the playoffs, they destroyed them. It'll be damn interesting to see what they do in the same situation seeing as they still have the same coach.

It's highly unlikely that the Bengals will be in a scenario where they can rest their starters. The problem for them is that they have the tiebreaker over New England, but Baltimore as the tiebreaker over them (the Ravens would get the sweep if they win in Week 17). In other words, the Pats need to be two games ahead of the Bengals and the Bengals need to be two games ahead of the Ravens for them to be locked into a division title with no bye.

Basically, the standings need to look like this: Pats 12-3, Bengals 10-5, Ravens 8-7. It's possible, but you're relying on a lot of separate things to fall into place.

they basically got the 3 seed locked up. hopefully they still got a shot at the 2 seed going into that game but i doubt it. we need to be 1 game up on baltimore going into that last game cuz theres a good chance the bengals tank that game.

You do know they have the no.2 seed still at stake right? so they might need to play all the way to the last game, especially or hopefully if fins beat pats this sunday or ravens beat pats the following sunday which can happen. They have the tiebreaker on pats so they just need to have the same record as pats and they'd get the no.2 seed as they beat pats earlier this year. So they will most likely have meaning even in their last game

Yup and Pats very rarely lose to games in a row, and they play Baltimore after us... need to beat the Pats...

Which is why I'm glad pats won against the Browns. Even though I never like to see pats win especially in a crazy comeback, partly helped by the refs as usual. And It definitely doesn't mean pats will lose to fins, but statistically it's more favorable for fins to play pats after a win than pats after a loss.

Not sure why everybody is overlooking Baltimore@Detroit. Baltimore is 1-5 on the road (with the lone win against us).
Detroit will be sharp at home on Monday Night and put a licking on Baltimore. We just have to take care of our own business.
